the hungry cat bar specializes in seasonal, market driven cocktails, craft brews and an eclectic wine list .
the hungry cat is open daily serving lunch and dinner, with brunch on the weekends. The Veranda is an amazingly calm respite from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood. the hungry cat - it's a lifestyle!
The waiter Joseph was excellent. The foods was also great with a lot of choices. Great pick if you like various seafoods.
Excellent service, good recommendations, food fresh and high quality. Perfect pre-theatre dinner
Dinner after play at Pantages was disappointing. Cocktails were good, service was good, but food selection was poor and so was dessert choices.
Headed to Pantages and was looking for somewhere different to eat before the play. We used to go to Cleo at Redburry but its closed for remodeling...other option was Delphine at the W where we have enjoyed fresh oysters many times.
Hungry Cat was a very pleasant surprise! The menu is fairly small but packed with seafood. We had 2 different types of oysters that were both amazingly fresh, sweet and briny. For a crunchy kick, we had tempura fried shishito peppers...very tasty! We shared a fresh halibut entre that was too due for.
We sat on the open air, semi-private patio. The only downside was a happy dog from some apartment upstairs, and a brief marital dispute outside Walgreens involving shouting, cussing, and throwing soda bottles. A little tense for a moment or two, but won't deter us from returning.
We came here for dinner before going to the Pantages theater. It was an easy walk. Parking nearby for $10 if you enter after 6 p.m. We got delicious bread, clam chowder was not what we expected by very good with actual clams in the bowl. The Brussel sprouts were to die for. I got a lobster roll. I was expecting a hot lobster with butter in it but got more of a lobster salad which was tasty too. They substituted a side salad for my French fries and it was refreshingly good.
The lobster roll was flavorful and tender, and the Halibut dish was the best I’ve ever had eating out. The asparagus was excellently cooked. I will definitely be back.
While I loved the food and the vibe of Hungry Cat and have been many times I was shocked that the parking lot associated with the building charged me $14 for a bit over 2 hours of parking even with validation. I think the restaurants in the building need to provide longer parking validations or it needs to be clearer on the parking lot signage. Sadly one of the best reasons for going (the easy parking) will now make me not frequent or recommend Hungry Cat
Sorry, but we were underwhelmed with this place. Food was ordinary. Bench seating, really?
This was always one of my favorite restaurants, one that I'd proudly bring out of town
guests to with confidence in the food and service. Last week, however, was a deep disappointment on many levels. Our waiter seemed to preocccuppied and relatively uninformed
about both food and wine. He took forever to grasp our orders and get us drinks. Our starter of fried oysters was delicious so we thought that we were off to a good start but then the real trouble started. My entree of grilled shrimp on risotto arrived and the shrimp were cold while the risotto was undercooked - inedible in fact. I wound up having to share my dinner guest's plate while waiting. I finally got the waiter's attention who brought me toasted bread which I do not eat. Finally the new entree arrived - risotto was fine but.... the same cold shrimp were served again! Unbelievable! I was so hungry at this point that I ate the dish. The restaurant took the dish off but never offered complimentary drinks, an interim snack, dessert. NOTHING to compensate for this fiasco! I am definitely not planning on returning again which makes me sad but I guess that times change and so did the Hungry Cat.
Oysters followed by amazing fish tacos. An amazing meal as always!
The service was extraordinary, very friendly and knowledgeable. The food is beyond delicious, with an incredible presentation, unique taste combinations, and leaving you wanting to come back for more.
Outstanding food, fun and attentive service. Need to go there more often.
The food was good. This establishment attracts nice guests. A few members of the cast from criminal minds were there and complimented me and my wife on our attire. (But anyways. Back to the restaurant experience) Our waitress was nice but seemed busy. Very busy. Very nice though. It was just one of “those nights” I guess. Would I go back? Yes. My lobster roll was awesome.
The good was flavorful and delicious. The service was attentive. Heidi is vety helpful and friendly!
We arrived 8pm on a Saturday. There was a good crowd of people at that time. However service was very slow. The food was alright, but loved the shrimp & scallop dumplings the best.
Our server was amazing! The food was good.....not the best place for young kids as far as the menu is concerned.
Waiter was helpful and educated. Food was delicious and fast. Cocktail was also delicious.
Walked in to an empty restaurant, once we were seated, I was offered a choice between still or sparkling water, which later I realized costs $8!!! Drank my glass of water, paid the bill and walked out. I don't remember the last time I got conned with the whole water bottle thing, but it totally turned me off.
AMAZING seafood and great service. The Luna oysters were the best we’ve ever had an our server was very knowledgeable. She made some great recommendations.
I've been coming here for lunch and dinner over the years. Always a good time and good meal here.
Delicious food and attentive service.
Crave-worthy food served by outstanding people. Loved it.
Great place. Our server Heidi was friendly and nice to us. The other server was friendly, i just don’t remember her name.
Food was good but not enough busboys to clear the table. I ordered seafood platter with 2 tiers I.e. seafood with a lot of shells, oysters, mussels, lobsters, crab legs, sea urchin,.... food was good. When main dishes came, nobody came to clear the dirty table. After I requested for service, I still had to wait for another 10 minutes, leaving my main dishes cold. Waiter just gave lip service apologies and avoided eye contact while I waited.
Good spot, delicious food, I just think our server had an off night. The rest of wait staff was was very nice.
Food was pretty good. We ordered mainly raw dishes and soup as we only had an hour to dine before a theater show.
Service was a bit slow and rude, perhaps maybe because it was Saturday night.
Had to wait for shell cracker for our lobster claw and spoon for the soup.
Proper utensils were not brought with the meal which made us rush even more.
Again, perhaps it was because it was Saturday night that service was not up to par, but you'd think youd have your best people working that night???
Everything else was fine, food was great!
I will still come back because of the food.
My girlfriend and I dined for LA restaurant week. The food was great. Service was slow—hence the three stars.
We LOVE this restaurant! We have been eating here for at least the last 13 years and the quality of food has consistently been outstanding with a small, but innovative seafood m. The seasonal cocktails are always a treat as well. It truly is a neighborhood gem (in the middle of Hollywood).
Terrible service. Only 4 tables in use in the entire restaurant and we waited almost an hour for our food. When I made the reservation I told them we had Theatre tickets and needed leave by a certain time. Needless to say we almost missed entry to the show.
Not the best hush puppies I've ever had. The frittata had fried oysters that were overly seasoned and felt like a lump in my stomach after I ate them. Place was empty for Sunday lunch. Don't know if that means things aren't going well here.
My dinner go to before the Pantages. The fish is fresh and quality. Lobster roll is pricy, but the best on LA. Yummy.
Forgotten how great this place was. Was here for dine LA
Hungry cat was a little expensive for the limited menu that they offer. Food was very bland . Menu in line doesn’t match there in store restaurant menu
They have a very limited bar and we’re out of two of the tea that they serve in the restaurant.
Undirtunately, we will not go back.
Fantastic cocktails and $1 oysters on Mondays. Service was great and staff were friendly. Quite an enjoyable meal from start to finish
Best raw platter I’ve had in America,
And value for money, I had the 3 tier platter, everything was super fresh and outstanding .
Overall, it was ok. Half of our meal was great, the other half was mediocre. Our waiter never told us any specials, luckily, I knew there were dollar oysters before arriving because he never mentioned anything. The oysters and mussels were amazing. I was very pleased. My husband ordered the jumbo shrimp. He said the food was too salty. I ordered the clam chowder and I only had one clam. Additionally, the bacon flavor was so strong that it tasted like I was eating a bowl of bacon (great if you like bacon, but I wanted clam chowder). Overall, I would recommend for the raw food bar.
Went here for dinner before seeing Hamilton at the Pantages. Food was very good, husband loved the trout and the Brussel sprouts, daughter loved the "virgin cat" cocktail.
We had reservations at 615. The bar looked inviting so we chose to eat there. Gabriella was amazing with her on point service. The oysters were delish and when they were out of a dish we ordered they were quick with a substitute suggestion. Gabriella spaced our orders perfectly and the food was fabulous including but not limited to: braised mussels. Stuffed squid. Salad of little gem and crab puppies. The manager was fabulous and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. Money well spent.
We selected Hungry Cat for pre-theatre dinner with the whole family. Food and Service were excellent. Everyone was pleased.
Food over salted.
Premises badly in need maintenance. Who likes dining at badly chipped tables?
