the hungry cat bar specializes in seasonal, market driven cocktails, craft brews and an eclectic wine list .
the hungry cat is open daily serving lunch and dinner, with brunch on the weekends. The Veranda is an amazingly calm respite from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood. the hungry cat - it's a lifestyle!
Outstanding food, fun and attentive service. Need to go there more often.
The food was good. This establishment attracts nice guests. A few members of the cast from criminal minds were there and complimented me and my wife on our attire. (But anyways. Back to the restaurant experience) Our waitress was nice but seemed busy. Very busy. Very nice though. It was just one of “those nights” I guess. Would I go back? Yes. My lobster roll was awesome.
The good was flavorful and delicious. The service was attentive. Heidi is vety helpful and friendly!
We arrived 8pm on a Saturday. There was a good crowd of people at that time. However service was very slow. The food was alright, but loved the shrimp & scallop dumplings the best.
Our server was amazing! The food was good.....not the best place for young kids as far as the menu is concerned.
Waiter was helpful and educated. Food was delicious and fast. Cocktail was also delicious.
Walked in to an empty restaurant, once we were seated, I was offered a choice between still or sparkling water, which later I realized costs $8!!! Drank my glass of water, paid the bill and walked out. I don't remember the last time I got conned with the whole water bottle thing, but it totally turned me off.
AMAZING seafood and great service. The Luna oysters were the best we’ve ever had an our server was very knowledgeable. She made some great recommendations.
I've been coming here for lunch and dinner over the years. Always a good time and good meal here.
Delicious food and attentive service.
Crave-worthy food served by outstanding people. Loved it.
Great place. Our server Heidi was friendly and nice to us. The other server was friendly, i just don’t remember her name.
Food was good but not enough busboys to clear the table. I ordered seafood platter with 2 tiers I.e. seafood with a lot of shells, oysters, mussels, lobsters, crab legs, sea urchin,.... food was good. When main dishes came, nobody came to clear the dirty table. After I requested for service, I still had to wait for another 10 minutes, leaving my main dishes cold. Waiter just gave lip service apologies and avoided eye contact while I waited.
Good spot, delicious food, I just think our server had an off night. The rest of wait staff was was very nice.
Food was pretty good. We ordered mainly raw dishes and soup as we only had an hour to dine before a theater show.
Service was a bit slow and rude, perhaps maybe because it was Saturday night.
Had to wait for shell cracker for our lobster claw and spoon for the soup.
Proper utensils were not brought with the meal which made us rush even more.
Again, perhaps it was because it was Saturday night that service was not up to par, but you'd think youd have your best people working that night???
Everything else was fine, food was great!
I will still come back because of the food.
My girlfriend and I dined for LA restaurant week. The food was great. Service was slow—hence the three stars.
We LOVE this restaurant! We have been eating here for at least the last 13 years and the quality of food has consistently been outstanding with a small, but innovative seafood m. The seasonal cocktails are always a treat as well. It truly is a neighborhood gem (in the middle of Hollywood).
Terrible service. Only 4 tables in use in the entire restaurant and we waited almost an hour for our food. When I made the reservation I told them we had Theatre tickets and needed leave by a certain time. Needless to say we almost missed entry to the show.
Not the best hush puppies I've ever had. The frittata had fried oysters that were overly seasoned and felt like a lump in my stomach after I ate them. Place was empty for Sunday lunch. Don't know if that means things aren't going well here.
My dinner go to before the Pantages. The fish is fresh and quality. Lobster roll is pricy, but the best on LA. Yummy.
Forgotten how great this place was. Was here for dine LA
Hungry cat was a little expensive for the limited menu that they offer. Food was very bland . Menu in line doesn’t match there in store restaurant menu
They have a very limited bar and we’re out of two of the tea that they serve in the restaurant.
Undirtunately, we will not go back.
Fantastic cocktails and $1 oysters on Mondays. Service was great and staff were friendly. Quite an enjoyable meal from start to finish
Best raw platter I’ve had in America,
And value for money, I had the 3 tier platter, everything was super fresh and outstanding .
Overall, it was ok. Half of our meal was great, the other half was mediocre. Our waiter never told us any specials, luckily, I knew there were dollar oysters before arriving because he never mentioned anything. The oysters and mussels were amazing. I was very pleased. My husband ordered the jumbo shrimp. He said the food was too salty. I ordered the clam chowder and I only had one clam. Additionally, the bacon flavor was so strong that it tasted like I was eating a bowl of bacon (great if you like bacon, but I wanted clam chowder). Overall, I would recommend for the raw food bar.
Went here for dinner before seeing Hamilton at the Pantages. Food was very good, husband loved the trout and the Brussel sprouts, daughter loved the "virgin cat" cocktail.
We had reservations at 615. The bar looked inviting so we chose to eat there. Gabriella was amazing with her on point service. The oysters were delish and when they were out of a dish we ordered they were quick with a substitute suggestion. Gabriella spaced our orders perfectly and the food was fabulous including but not limited to: braised mussels. Stuffed squid. Salad of little gem and crab puppies. The manager was fabulous and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. Money well spent.
We selected Hungry Cat for pre-theatre dinner with the whole family. Food and Service were excellent. Everyone was pleased.
Food over salted.
Premises badly in need maintenance. Who likes dining at badly chipped tables?
The restaurant was practically empty & our service was subpar at best.
Has lost its luster and soul. This used to be a great go-to spot, but it seems like everyone involved has given up. I wouldn’t be surprised if it closes soon.
I love any thing grilled but the cooks seem to have no understanding between burnt and charred. Yes, it’s a fine line of a few seconds, but once you go go past that charred line, you shouldn’t serve it.
Burnt: cauliflower, hush puppies
Charred: bread, octopus
Our server was great. Food was meh and cocktails overpriced. I miss the Santa Monica location. They did everything right. With its demise, the owners seems to have given up and so have I. Last time I’ll dine here.
Seafood overly salty and a bit raw. Heaters outside were nice and warm. Restaurant and decorations were beautiful. Service was only ok, it felt like we were being rushed even though we were basically the only ones there, they didn't offer to explain or recommend drinks. Parking difficult, restaurant of from the street. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't go back.
I love The Hungry Cat! The food is always fresh and delicious, and the service is excellent. This is a hidden gem tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood. The food is on the pricey side but because of how wonderfully prepared all the food is, and because of the attentive and friendly service, it's worth it. Definitely eat here after a show at The Pantages, or if you are in the mood for seafood while gazing at the "stars" on Hollywood Boulevard.
Truly excellent seafood and well priced for the quality. We were seated immediately and served promptly. Made it to the theater with time to spare.
They should consider having a fruit or fruit based dessert on the menu
The food was amazing and the service was super. Every single dish we ordered was delicious
Went for dinner after theater matinee food was delicious and the service was wonderful. They let us dine slowly and enjoy the evening. We were not rushed by servers and the service was perfect.
We always come here before a play at the Pantages theater and the food is usually pretty good. However, this time around they did not impress. We asked for a Caesar salad with no bacon but they still put bacon in it. Also, king crab is so much easier to eat if a pair of kitchen shears is used to put a slit down the shell which was not done until we asked. The Kampachi ceviche was pretty good. Overall though I expected more and it's definitely not as good as it used to be. Next time we will try different restaurant.
I confess that we chose this restaurant only because it was within walking distance of our hotel. We couldn't have been more pleased. We sat on the patio because of the beautiful evening. It was quiet and relaxing. My husband ordered a dish with steamed clams which he never gets to order at home. He was in heaven. My favorite thing was the roasted Brussels sprouts. They melted in our mouths. Our server was delightful. He helped us order all the right things including the right craft beers to pair with our meal. It's tucked away in an alley so you have to be looking for it. Make the effort. It's worth it.
Excellent fried oysters and trout..and the always reliable chorizo & clams. Friendly service and tasty handcrafted cocktails. Great date place.
