Sorry to have to say goodbye to our favorite seafood restaurant but finally got into the last crab fest after missing all of the others over the years.

David Lentz's The Hungry Cat was a masterpiece: One of the finest restaurant experiences in Los Angeles for the better part of two decades. We've lost a real Hollywood institution.

So sad this wonderful restaurant has closed. Really great food. My best to the owner and when he is ready would delight at eating at his next restaurant. Be well.

So sad to see The Hungry Cat go. My Seafood Stew and Pimlico Cocktail were very, very tasty as was everything I have eaten here. The Clam Chowder is one of the best I have ever had. This restaurant will be missed.

Food was great - the chef knows how to cook some white fish. Service was very slow and almost uncaring. Ambience merited plates to be $10 cheaper. Will not go again.

We ate here with 7 people on a Friday evening and the food was very good. We were a little cramped at the table but otherwise, there was nothing to complain about. Service was fast and everyone loved their choices for dinner. We all had dessert also and the bread and butter pudding was out of this world. We would definitely visit again.

The first time we went to this restaurant (Nay 2019) it was fantastic. Loved loved the food! So we went again in June but this time it was seemingly a different chef I assume. Both my food (the steak w/crab) and my husband’s food were beyond salty. I sent my food back. The server tried to make up for it by having a side dish sent out for free... but it was just as salty. While I was able to order something new (plain steamed crab legs which were good) we ended up running almost late to the theater. Very unfortunate.

The Hungry Cat has become our favorite restaurant. For our second visit we went before the theatre. This time we had the little gems salad, seafood stew, and grilled artichokes and fingerlings. Again one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Just fabulous.

Worst experience ever. Waiter sucked. Over priced drinks. Mediocre food. Didn’t have the proper utensils to eat crab lol - only salad forks! They also put pieces of the menu that had the specials at the bottom of some of the food dishes. I don’t meant food safe paper - I mean straight from a printer so your food is sitting on computer ink. When we complained they said they were closing permanently in 2 weeks. Not surprised lol!

Extremely over priced for what you get. I got tempura fried snow crab claws that cost $26. I old got 7 that were barely a bite each. My husband got a lobster roll but they do not tell you what all comes on it. It had so much onion and celery mixed in with the lobster that he could barely eat it. In the end, we paid $70 for meals that were the size of appetizers and ended up ordering pizza at our hotel because we were hungry within an hour.

The Hungry Cat is a casual and affordable restaurant. Our fish entrees were excellent and the desert was unique. I was worried about sitting outside, but the cover and heaters created a pleasant dining environment.
