Steak was cool and less than tender. Dessert order was forgotten.
As always, the service was top notch, the food was delicious, the wine list is thorough - another perfect evening.
We have enjoyed William and Merry a number of times. We have always had a very good meal that presented in appropriate sized servings. The staff are very professional. I'd recommend it to all my friends and family.
Second time there and it was as good or better than the first. Love that the menu is always different
My brother had been wanting to try William and Merry’s so we took him here to celebrate his birthday. Overall, a nice experience. We shared a couple of excellent cheese plates. The men each enjoyed the salmon. Wives had pasta dishes which were good. Service was top notch.
We had Easter dinner here which was our first visit. It was the Sunday Supper which was delicious. We had the choice to pick from three appetizers, entrees and desserts. The food, staff, and restaurant all around was definitely a wonderful experience. We can't wait to bring our friends back for Sunday brunch and for another dinner out again soon.
Thank you again for an amazing time.
Out of the way foodie gem! The service was wonderful.
Every single time we dine here we have an amazing experience! From the top-notch service to the fabulous food, we always know to expect an experience that leaves us completely content and very satisfied. We dine here regularly and have never had a bad or even a slightly ok experience. Each and every time, we leave loving this restaurant more and more.
Inventive flavors and great service. Always a pleasure to dine at The House of William and Merry.
Atmosphere was stale (downstairs). The drinks were good - the Pink Panther had a nice balance and was not too sweet.
Scallop starter was passable although a little on the salty side. The duck entree was simply inedible - essentially a salt lick - staff was understanding and took the dish off our bill, can’t fault them for that. However, why pair cured duck (salty) with cheese grits and deep fried veggies? Looking back that should have been a big warning.
I had the sea bass which was a little on the bland side and overpriced for what it was. .
Don’t bother with this place - if you’re in Wilmington go to La Fia instead.
Chef does an excellent job of combining different foods for a unique taste. Food is beyond excellent. We visit this restaurant at least twice a year and it never disappoints. About the only negative is that the upstairs can be a bit loud although we prefer to sit upstairs as it is more open and brighter. Try some of the deserts as you will not be disappointed.
Great wine list. Cheese plate was wonderful. Cod and salmon were perfectly prepared. Service was top notch. One of my favorite restaurants and I can’t wait to visit again!
I think the main menu should change more often.
Like, add more specials for Sat. night dinners.
Add the drink "ROMarin to your cocktail list.
Excellent service and food, this was the perfect location for a surprise dinner date for someone’s birthday. A gem in Delaware!
Love this place! This visit was for the Sunday dinner ... wonderful way to spend a evening. Treated a friend for her first visit, she was so upset she hadn't known about the Sunday Dinners before. To me this is THE best restaurant of its type in Delaware.
As always; outstanding cuisine - and very beautifully plated!
Great food.. a little pricey. Service was good.
We had a wonderful dinner, fantastic service and left with smiles that only come from such an outstanding experience as we had that night.
We enjoyed our dinner at this well run restaurant. The valet parking was efficient. The server was excellent. I had the salmon and my husband had the duck. The portions were perfect. I especially enjoyed the vegetables with their unique combination. The butternut squash soup was creamy and flavorful. We ended with the apple fritters which were tasty and easily shared.
We can’t wait to go back
We love William and Mary. Bill is an exceptional Chef. W&M is one of our go to restaurants, you can never go wrong.
Always an amazing experience. While the menu would never reflect this - the talented kitchen primates the most vegan vegan meals. Our “go to” restaurant. Love.
Once again, another amazing meal! Bill and Merry make you feel comfortable and part of their family!
Glad my wife and I tried this restaurant out. The kitchen, bar and part of dinning room are on first floor of an old house. The rest of the dinning area is upstairs. Very quaint and decorated nicely. Happy with the drinks we ordered. "House" Manhattan and a Pear Martini . Appetizer was The Chef's Tasting Board - enjoyed it. For the main course, my wife ordered the salmon and I the cod. We were happy with the choices. Wait staff was very friendly.
Two downsides - neither major. The parking lot is tiny. As a result they have complementary valet parking. Of course I rarely carry cash on my person. I drove over to Wawa after leaving to get a tip. Had I read in a previous review that there was valet parking, I would have been prepared. The other downside was that there was way too much time between the appetizer and the main course.
Other considerations. The menus and seating arraingments so not make this children friendly restaurant. That is not a bad thing. Just something to consider. Lastly, while there is no dress code, I would suggest business/business casual attire.
Once again, the House of William and Merry did not disappoint. My husband asked to go here for his birthday and we were delighted with their pre fixe Sunday supper special. Appetizer, Main Course, and Dessert were amazing! My only challenge was keeping the husband from "sharing" most of my meal.
Wonderful dining experience all around
Overall, we really like this place, but last night was disappointing. For the first time, we were seated upstairs in a room with a somewhat sterile ambiance, at a tiny little table with a view of the parking lot and the busy street beyond...not what we had envisioned to celebrate our Anniversary. And the next table was only a few feet away with loud talkers. We are now intimate with all of the details of their summer vacation.
Most of the food was very good, especially the fois gras appetizer, excellent. But the Duroc pork chop, was over cooked and dry, even though I requested it to be medium. For $38, I expected better.
Great space and accommodating staff so our group could celebrate a friend from out of town and her baby-to-be. We had a group of 7 and were able to get the first reservation on Saturday. Loved the brunch I enjoyed there a few months back and will return for sure!
Always excellent food and friendly service. A real gem not just in the Hockessin area but all of Delaware valley.
It is a very good fine dining restaurant. Fresh local menu, well prepared food and a solid wine list. Server was excellent. Very good food. We will be back soon.
I’ve been to the House of William and Merry a number of times and appreciate the great service (Antonio) and great food. The restaurant is charming and the menu selection is always pleasantly varied. The portions are not huge but sufficient. I highly recommend making reservations.
I love eating at William and Merry’s. From the Sunday prefix menu to the cocktails, everything is always enjoyable, elegant and reasonably priced.
Sunday brunch and the food was amazing, great service
Great overall experience. My parents absolutely loved celebrating their wedding anniversary at William and Merry.
Food was wonderful! Waiter was young and not very knowledgeable about food and wine in general, but still efficient and kind. Restaurant is two floors, intimate and nicely decorated. We dined on a Sunday evening, so it was a "Sunday supper" prix fixe menu (3 courses for $35/pp), but the selections still provided variety and were beyond expectations for the price. Between 4 people, we sampled almost everything from the prix fixe menu and were amazed by it all. Great cocktail menu and very nice wine list selections (without too ridiculous a markup). I really look forward to re-visiting to select from the full menu!
Menu has few items, but all are interesting and prepared to perfection. One of those places where foodies read the menu carefully and exclaim "wow, I never thought of doing that!". Great atmosphere, super wait staff and fantastic food. Parking is tight, but they have someone managing valet during busy times. A great experience - brought friends from out of the area and made a great impression.
A late Valentine’s Day Dinner. It was crowded but the food and service were excellent. Thanks.
Fantastic food as always. It's expensive but you're paying for the experience of ingredients that no one in this area but this restaurant can live up to. It's cozy, intimate, relaxing and very indulgent. We always look for reasons to go back!
Excellent food and excellent service at a reasonable price
Consistently a great experience- LOVE the food
We had a great time celebrating my boyfriend's birthday. Our server, Leslie, was amazing!!!
