The House of William & Merry Ratings and Reviews
I had been treated to an amazing lunch here for my 40th birthday, so a year later I made reservations for our wedding anniversary dinner. The staff, the food, the drinks, the intimate atmosphere- everything was simply incredible! Yes you need to be prepared to spend some money, but it is well worth it for the attention to detail. From the friendly, not stuffy, and knowledgeable staff to the incredible seasonal menu being presented with creative and deep flavors - and don't forget the phenomenal drink creations - I can't say enough good things about this place! A special occasion win for certain!
Such a special restaurant for us. My husband and I had our first date there, so we continue to frequent for special evenings celebrating, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
Our food, wine, and service is simply outstanding every time. Very special and unique restaurant. Highly recommend to everyone!
The House of William and Merry is the best!! It is a quaint, relaxing and friendly place with outstanding food and service. It felt like being warmly invited into a hidden farmhouse gem. The staff is super pleasant and knowledgeable about all the dishes and beverages. Fresh and quality ingredients are used in the incredibly delicious dishes, and it was clear that everything was prepared with care and attention. We enjoyed brunch outside and swooned over the pork belly, chef's special burrito, peach 77 cocktail, locally roasted coffee, and chocolate truffles. We will definitely return to this exceptional restaurant!
This restaurant was recommended by friends who knew we were visiting sites in the area. We opted for Sunday brunch as it fit better into our sightseeing plans better than dinner. I wish we had tried dinner instead. Since we went pretty early (just after 10am) the restaurant was quite empty which was okay but it did cause any noises from the kitchen to be easily heard. Also, we were seated right by the stairway to the upper level and we heard the staff running up and down throughout our meal.
My husband enjoyed his Eggs Benedict but I was quite disappointed in mine. I ordered 'stuffed' French toast with marscarpone cheese, strawberries and topped with whipped cream. Really, what I received was two rather thin pieces of French toast with the cheese and strawberries in between them. There was absolutely nothing special about this dish and given that I had heard great things about the restaurant, I was let down.
I would still go back, however, just to give it another chance. But, I would go for dinner.
We were in the area for a visit to Longwood Gardens and wanted a nice dinner. Thanks to Open Table, we found William and Merry. It was a warm summer evening and we were given a table on the front porch. The server was very pleasant and helpful -- we have a couple dietary constraints (gluten, lactose). The kitchen accommodated our needs and delivered delightful dishes. To top off the evening, we chose the dessert special of the evening -- fresh figs with balsalmic, choped nuts, fresh mint, etc. It was innovative and delicious. Next time we are in the area, we will again visit William and Merry.
My gf and I both work in the hospitality industry so we notice the details the usual diner wouldn't appreciate. Went with another couple and had a fantastic time. Rav was our server and excelled. Had all the specials memorized and took our entire order by memory, reciting back everything correctly, before leaving to put in our order, giving a level of assurance to us that we would be getting exactly what we ordered. Kudos. Had bloody marys and bloody marias, both spicy yet flavorful. Food came and was delivered to our correct position numbers and not "auctioned off." Gf and I split the rabbit and goat cheese fritata and the smoked salmon benedict. Although the fritata was tasty the benedict stole the show. Friends had the burger and the french toast with sausage and scrapple. Both loved them with burger being described as, "extremely satisfying but not overly greasy." Sausage was pickled which I loved but my friend didn't. Scrapple was amazing, like a crispy pate'. Overall the food and service was outstanding. Easily our new favorite brunch spot. Just go. It's so worth it.
It was dinner and a show night for our family. Venue is close to Loogwood Gardens where we had tickets for Beauty and the Beast. We chose W&M for our pre show meal. Could not have made a better choice. A real gem of a restaurant. My wife and daughter had the Salmon and I had the Tuna. The menu and their specials made it extremely difficult to pick just one main. Everything was fresh and prepared perfectly. OH yes, leave room for their deserts. W&M is now our new best restaurant.
Not your every day restaurant. Menu changes depending on season and availability of fresh ingredients. Food is beautifully prepared and the presentation is masterful. Add in a quiet and intimate ambiance, and you have the makings of a memorable dining experience.
The new summer menu is excellent and has a very nice variety of fresh creative meals. The service was outstanding! Just the right mix of attentive without being annoying. The 4 of us enjoyed every course. There is also a really creative menu of summer cocktails worth trying. Overall it is an excellent restaurant and I would recommend it if you like fresh and interesting food with beautiful presentation.
We've been twice. The first time is where we decided to go for our post wedding dinner, and this last time for brunch. Both times were wonderful. Food is always great. Decor isn't very seductive but the food always is so when we want crafted food done well that's always a great choice.
Creative cuisine and was so surprised I had not tried this place before. It was for my parents 50th wedding anniversary so we wanted a memorable experience. We were thrilled it was perfect - we ordered four appetizers and four entrees and four desserts and it was less than $75 per person. We are still talking about the quality and the flavors of the food perfect for a special occasion would highly recommend
The service was great. The waiter was kind and helpful. Everyone was friendly.
I didn't enjoy the appetizer sampler. Horseradish in the egg and liver pate were just not to my liking at all. Had I known that's what was on the board, I would never have ordered that.
Pork tenderloin was very rare and tough, and ratatouille was over salted. Fried green tomato was good. I pulled the thick breaking off and ate the tomato. Did not enjoy my meal at all.
My husband liked the scallops entree, but was disappointed only to receive 4 scallops. They weren't super huge to only be given 4 on an entree.
Wishing it would have been better. Our meal put a damper on our 20th anniversary celebration.
We really enjoyed our evening out at W&M! Very clean, simple and tasteful setting. Our waitress was awesome, engaging and had a great disposition. The food - amazing. I had the NY strip and my date had the Tuna, we were both pleased. The deserts were creative and tasty, the decaf coffee was really full body and smooth.
We will definitely be back and you should make it a point to try this restaurant. You will truly miss out if you don't!!
This place has great food, device, and atmosphere but for our visit we thought it would have more of a quiet, romantic, fine dining feel. Not that they can control this, but a large party came in and was very loud and it started to feel more like a pub/bar feel which was disappointing. We ended up unable to really hear each other without really speaking up.
