The Hobbit Restaurant

Very noisy atmosphere, our first time visitors pre anniversary dinner. Food was
Ok not great. Had to send shrimp appetizer back fried very hard. Our busboy was great very attentive & noticed we weren't enjoying our meal. We had a great conversation with the busboy. The server didnt connect to us at all.
It was our anniversary and my wife was surprised with the recognition of that fact when we arrived at the restaurant and at our table. The service was outstanding (we remembered our waiter from previous visits) and the food and ambience were perfect. It was the last night before closing for the off season and the place was full of diners and a birthday party, but our service did not suffer and we were able to relax and enjoy the food and the view. We hope to return in the Spring if the restaurant is open at that time.
We dined Friday night, one day before The Hobbit closed for the season. The food and service was up to its usual excellent standards. Our sever, Evan, was professional and attentive, he knew the menu and made several suggestions. The Cream of Crab was delicious with a large amount of crab meat and seasoned perfectly. My Braised Short Ribs practically melted in my mouth, the sauce was light, not overbearing. My wife's Crab Cakes were served just as she requested, she is not a fan of Old Bay, some local restaurants get carried away with it.
We will be back in the Spring, another great dining experience.
The Hobbit provides a consistently excellent dining experience. The staff does a great job proving attentive service without being overwhelming - they are there just when needed. The food will never disappoint - our favorite dish remains the daily catch preparation. No matter what fish is available the plate that includes crab and corn is an excellent combination. Try their cocktails - the drinks are excellent and superbly crafted. Always a top notch dining experience.
The Hobbit never disappoints! The food, the service, even the view is always spectacular. Thank you Matt for making my friend’s birthday special. Good luck to all in the off season. See you in the spring!!
We tend not to treat ourselves to a nice meal, but am so glad we did at The Hobbit. It was the end of Restaurant Week, and we went there with our neighbors. The four of us each had different appetizers and entrees, and they were all wonderful! The staff members were delightful, from the greeters to the servers. We'll definitely head back there to see another magnificent sunset.
The meal was excellent however I did not see a "deal" for restaurant week. I was in Charleston for their Restaurant week and 5 of us spent what my husband and I spent for the two of us. The Restaurant in Charleston was very comparable to The Hobbit.
We always have a fantastic meal at the Hobbit. We happened to be in OC for restaurant week and took advantage of the menu. It had really good options and everything was wonderfully prepared. The ambiance is great here.
It’s a special place
Nice experience on a stormy night.
Exceptional as always, from first day to closing day.
Nice atmosphere. Place was packed at 9pm. . Very loud near the bar but luckily they found a table away from the bar that was much quieter. Service was very good. The corn chowder was amazing and the beef carpaccio was delicious. I loved the maple arugula salad. Filet tail was tasty but it’s not the greatest cut of meat. Portions were very generous. They had good options for gluten free. The only think missing was there was no gluten free bread.
We come to Ocean City from NY every Ocrober to play golf and this is our "must go to" restaurant. Food is great, the place is very pretty and they have great sunsets over the marsh. Highly recommend!
Having been to both of the Hobbit previous locations , I found this location as hang lost the Hobbit theme. However it is an upscale restaurant. The service was initially poor with our waiter operating with blinders on. We were assigned a new waiter named Tim who saved the evening. It was restaurant week, they had an excellent menu, both of use order their tuna which was cooked perfect and was large serving.
It was restaurant week so they were busy but you certainly couldn’t tell by the level of service or how quickly we received our food. The food was delicious and the creme brûlée was the best I have ever had. I’m definitely going to be back.
Our party of Ten had a Wonderful dinner. Service was excellent, and the food was outstanding.
We marked off anniversary for our reservation and they put a card on our table! All the staff that walked by told us happy anniversary, the food was INCREDIBLE. There was a glass panel between our table and the one next to us so we couldn’t hear each other’s conversations. Beautiful place and I can’t wait to go back!
Awesome. Start to finish.
Had dinner this past Wednesday night. It is Ocean City Restaurant Week and there were several options for on the special menu. The Caesar salad, swordfish and crème brulee were very good. My partner ordered off the regular menu and had baby lamb chops and filet mignon. Very enjoyable evening.
Good fortunate seated by window for sunset.
Food was well prepared and attractively served. Both meals were excellent. Their dessert called Mary’s Delight was so good.
Atmosphere great for an special evening dinner.
My favorite place because it is always exceptional.
We loved everything but the noise. All four of us were more than pleased with our entrees, and we all agreed that the maple arugula salad was the best salad any of us could recall eating anywhere. The overall price was eminently fair for the service, food, and ambience--it just wasn't applause-worthy on its own. We don't visit Ocean City more than once a decade or so, but The Hobbit Restaurant still stands head and shoulders above anyplace else we've eaten in or near OC.
2nd time eating at this establishment. Everything was awesome. Brought our friends for the 1st time. They said definitely would go back.
One of the nicest restaurants in Ocean City! Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food!
Missed you last year due to seasonal closure but worth the wait. We had a fabulous time and enjoyed the vibe as well as the view. The food was so unique and very good.
The Hobbit was everything people said it was and more. The service staff was fabulous and the food so delicious! I had the short ribs and they were done to perfection. My husband and friends had the chicken with hunter sauce. My husband is still talking about how great it was. The view of the sunset was icing on the cake so to speak. Oh... the desserts were great as well.
Great dinner at The Hobbit. We had calamari for an appetizer and it was so good. Crab cakes were delicious and full of lump crab. Hubby had filet topped with crab and he said it was amazing. Mary’s dessert is the bomb, so full of chocolate and whipped cream. Love the ambience at The Hobbit. They make you feel that you’re the only one in the restaurant and you can’t beat the view.
Great birthday dinner though food was over salted!
Great view of the bay. Service Team is top shelf. Prices are a little on the high side. Worth it just the same.
Our server did not give me the option of the choice of starch as described in the menu. The starch was presented as three whole potatoes tossed on the plate with no seasoning or presentation. The entire plate presentation was horrible. Just a slab of salmon on beet juice with three whole potato balls rolling around. Also the wine on your menu that we ordered was not available. According to our server you had ‘run out’ of it. For a meal of this expense the food, presentation and service should be exemplary. This was an anniversary dinner and was very disappointing.
Excellent top-notch food and service from Eric. The cream of crab soup in particular was the best ever tasted
Made reservations for 6 people and was seated on time to see the lovely sunset view. Appetizers and entrees were awesome and large portion size was a nice surprise. Everyone raved about the creativity and taste of their meals and the service was outstanding. This was our first visit and we will be back!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The food was delicious. The only complaint was a loud group of girls near us. They were being very loud and yelling over each other. I had anticipated a quiet meal away from my loud 4 year old son and was very disappointed I had to listen to them. At one point they sang two screaming renditions of Happy Birthday. I wish their waiter had asked them to be a little quieter. I don't think it was fair to everyone else in the restaurant.
My wife and I make this one of our dining spots when we visit OC. We have never been disappointed that is why I give it an excellent rating in all categories.
My husbands birthday celebration was perfect!!! From the beautiful sunset to the personalized card on the table!
We were greated & seated immediately with reservations. The view of the sunset was awesome! Our food came out quickly, was cooked perfectly' & served hot. Our server was very attentive. We were checked on appropriately. The crowd was a great mix of people. Excellent food & service without being pretentious. I would recommend smart casual dress and to be there @ sunset. Many people were taking pics of themselves with the back drop of the beautiful sunset.
First off I am a major foodie! Had never been to OCMD before so had no idea of what places were good. I did my research and came up with The Hobbit. It absolutely exceeded my expectations! The place is beautiful the views spectacular and best of all the food and service were exceptional. I am still dreaming about the lamb lollipops!! I absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for excellent food and atmosphere.
Best place in ocean city
We had four people in our party. All agreed that it was the best meal we’ve had in Ocean City in years.
Enjoyable from cocktails to dessert and everything in between. Excellent service. Looking forward to returning!!
