We went here for our anniversary and could not have asked for a better experience. From the kind and attentive staff to the lovely view of the bay, our evening was romantic and relaxing. And it was easily one of the best meals we have shared. The Guinness short ribs and fresh crab cakes were TO DIE FOR, not to mention top notch mixed drinks and delightful desserts. We wish we lived in OC to make this a go-to date night spot. Excellent!!
Food and service were outstanding and the views were spectacular!!!
LLofates on the ground floor of an upscale Condo building, have to know where you are headed to find it. That said, excellent location with panaramic views of the bay behind Ocean City, more formal than most restaurants in the era but not stuffy. Service was friendly, efficient and professional both times we have dined there, and the food is very well prepared. Menu while not huge does have a variety, including Vegetarian. Dishes come well prepared with some flair, but not overly trendy. Wine list is reasonable and don’t have to take a second mortgage to buy a bottle.
The Hobbit is never less than fantastic! Food, service, atmosphere -- heads and tails above anything else in Ocean City and far beyond Ocean City.
Mother's Day celebration and we weren't disappointed. They had a mother's day menu. I was quite surprised how inexpensive the menu was. My total bill was half of what I expected. My wife and I eat here every other week and have never been disappointed. I would recommend the Hobbit for any special occasion or just a spectacular meal.
We've been to The Hobbit several times and they never disappoint. Great food, great service, always an enjoyable experience.
The Hobbit is consistently a top notch restaurant. Service, atmosphere and food are phenomenal . My husband believes the steak at the Hobbit is far better than Ruth Chris. Great place for a wonderful atmosphere and meal.
We were there for Mother’s Day. Caught the beginning of a beautiful sunset, then the clouds moved in, but not the restaurant’s fault. We had a Hobbit salad that we thought would have some nice veggies in it, but turned out to be mostly croutons. Otherwise everything was delicious!
I ordered the lamb chops and requested medium rare. I’m not sure how long they were cooked but they were quite chewy and cool to a large extent. When they came back I was surprised that there were only 4 modest sized ribs given the price tag ($36). Very disappointed. We’ve have come here several times and always enjoyed our experience before Saturday. In my mind too much money for a so-so experience at best.
The meal was great and the service was outstanding. We had a great time..
Weekend at the ocean
Very nice service and classy place. Happy to find a place with gluten free options. I had some stomach issues the next day which is very uncommon for me. Not sure if that was the result of something I ate at dinner. I thought there might be a little birthday treat at dinner for my son, but nothing was offered.
My husband and I were celebrating my 65th birthday, we found this restaurant to be a bit pricy, $40 for two crab cakes? Yes, they were delicious but really that’s a bit too much especially for retired couples but it was a special day. Our waiter was very nice but we were kinda crunched in a table for two behind a big column, a bit claustrophobic and were going to ask to be moved but we enjoyed looking out the window so it was ok. Because of the prices we would only come back if it was another special occasion.
The service was incredible and the table and view were beautiful. My boyfriend ordered the duck and said it was excellent. I ordered the fillet mignon and it was over cooked a bit and not very flavorable. But still good. The cocktail drink menu and wine list were great. As well as the beer list. I enjoyed my dinner very much. Will definitely be returning!!!!
Our meal was just not that good. Two at our table ordered the rack of lamb. When we’d had one bite we both exclaimed .. wow this is really cold. The waiter tried to tell us that’s th way it’s supposed to be... the manager took the plates back. When they came back I had four lamb chops rather than five. Served with an odd wad of ricotta and full cloves of roasted garlic- inedible. The other dinners were just ok - according to our companions. Nice ambiance , but the food was disappointing
Great service and food. The outstanding view was a bonus
Have eaten in 4 and 5 star restaurants all over the country . Many do not live up to that rating. I have to say that the Hobbit ranks in my top 5 all time favorites spanning 4 decades of dining. The food, service and atmosphere were superb. The chefs attention to detail and presentation will leave even the most discerning diner pleased with this choice. Well worth experiencing this establishment. Highly recommend.
My wife and I had dinner here while on a vacation trip. Great food, friendly prompt service. Nice views and relaxing atmosphere. Food is quality and well prepared. I recommend for most any occasion.
One of our all-time OC favorites! Everything about The Hobbit is excellent!
Food and service were fantastic. Beautiful bay view. The only complaint was the noise. I couldn’t have a conversation at my table.
My mother’s 51st birthday
Food as always was excellent and the views of the bay at sunset are breath taking.
Food and food server were 5 star all night long the beginning the bartender was a young woman not very friendly we had to come up to bar and get our own drinks and bring back to the lounge area. I believe she thought we were there for Restaurant week little did she know we have our own restaurant in upstate NY and just got done with that. I will defiantly go back for food and service there but if she was behind bar probably I will just go right to my table.
I've been here many times. It is never anything short of fantastic. Garvey and his crew are top notch.
Everything was excellent, from the food to wait staff!
Trip Advisor got it right. Top notch, across the board. Seating was roomy, spectacular views , and every entre at our table was fabulous.
We ordered from the Restaurant Week menu and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We chose the appetizer, salad and entree courses, and skipped dessert. The scallop and buffalo oyster appetizers were particularly good. The scallops were grilled and had a delicious sauce for dipping on the end of the plate. The fried oysters were served on a slightly spicy buffalo sauce with curled cucumbers on top. The house salad was very large, and the Caesar salad, with shaved Parmesan cheese, had a nice dressing. The short rib entree was very tender and tasty, and included two generous-size pieces, with two fried onion rings on top. The duck leg cassoulet, served with white beans, was quite tasty.
The view is stunning and the food is excellent. The calamari was off the hook and duck was cooked perfectly and The alpine cheese potatoes were delicious. Mary M was the best server ever.. super friendly and knowledgeable and super engaged with her customers. Thank you for a great meal and memory... we will be back for sure!
Loved the view & the food. Our server was very attentive. Special night out with my husband.
Great dinner. Had crab cakes and the mahi daily special. Both were well prepared. Excellent cocktails as well from the bar.
Food and service were both great.....prices competitive
The food was delicious and the atmosphere is always fantastic
Great meal. On the high, price side, in my opinion.
We went on Easter Sunday and I must say that the servers were phenomenal. The place was crowded, it had just opened barely a week before, it was very crowded and I think (for the servers) very difficult to maneouver among so many tables. They are to be congratulated!
Energetic Crowd! We were in Ocean City, MD for our 30th anniversary weekend & since our other evening was casual, we wanted a more upscale restaurant for the 2nd evening. We had a 7:30 reservation & the place was packed. We were seated & it was a nice touch there was a printed Happy Anniversary card on the table. We ate the price fixed menu where you chose 3 out of 4 offerings (appetizer, salad, entree or dessert). I chose the beef tenderloin empanadas w/ blue cheese. (Good, but kept thinking this is made with someone's leftover steak, oey). Hubby had caesar salad, very good. We both had the 10 oz glass of wine. Big glass of wine! Good house pinot noir. I had the crab cake & my husband had swordfish. Both very good. Ended with creme brulee, which again, was delightful. Place was VERY noisy, in fact people behind us were screaming laughing & pounding on the table. Not quite the place for a quiet anniversary dinner, but it was Sat night. We also had to ask the staff, because out of the 5 tables surrounding us, we were 1st to order, but last one served dinner. Again, not a big deal.We realize it is the end of the season. A very nice place, beautiful inside, cathedral ceilings, nice view (if it wasn't dark out). Nice menu & staff were friendly, even walking us outside to wish us Happy Anniversary.
Phenomenal dining experience!! From beginning to end this is a fantastic restaurant that we will visit again and again! Stunning views of the bay and sunset! Superb food and service!! We look forward to next season!
A much improved visit from our visit last year. Beautiful sunset. Tim was a great server - cordial and good pacing. Delicious salads and appetizers with veal and crab cake entrees. Loved the $40 wine opportunities to celebrate 40 years. Looking forward to next season!
Bike ride event
Great food and service. Loved the Pieogi Entree
