The Hind's Head - Bray
On the ground floor, the Restaurant has been remodelled whilst conserving the historic feature and integrity of the building.
Upstairs, our guests are invited to explore the Royal Lounge bar. An opulent space, perfect to indulge in our cocktail list, refined spirits, small batch gins and our fantastic champagne and wine list combined with our new snacks menu. We would advise arriving 30 minutes before your reservation time to enjoy the full experience.

Fantastic place, comfortable surroundings, wonderful staff made everybody feel welcome & incredible food. A great place for a special occasion.
Lovely evening, great service, wonderful food. Nice evening with my eldest daughter.
Took my parents for their anniversary, service was amazing & they made the feel very special. Traditional British food cooked incredibly, love the old building & decor. Lovely evening all in all
Fabulous meal at the Hinds Head!! No less than we were expecting. We started with drinks in the upstairs bar and were delighted to find they served an English Sparkling wine, Camel Valley Rosé, which is one of our favourites. We had the tasting menu which started with the best pea and ham soup I’ve ever eaten. The other courses were also delicious, especially the main course of lamb. Due to dairy issues I had a specially made dessert, which in my opinion was better than the one on the menu, although my partner thought his was amazing too. We found some of the decor a bit unusual, but the atmosphere was great. It is a bit pricey, but well worth it if you want something a bit special.
The food was lovely, and the service exemplary, but I couldn’t honestly say that it was great value for money, with four glasses of wine and a soft drink our bill for two was nearing double what we have paid for comparable quality and quantity in other wonderful restaurants and gastro type pubs. I have eaten in Michelin started places for considerably less.
Having said that, both the chicken liver parfait and the oxtail and kidney pudding my husband had were fanstastic and the cheese board had some fine examples of British cheeses. The fish and vegetarian options were comparatively lack lustre, well executed but less inventive, as is sadly often the case, tasty though.
Amazing food, great service, we will 100% be back. Cocktails are incredible!
Booked for a special occasion birthday lunch. Cocktails were excellent and the service divine. The food - well. Excellent in every way and the wait staff were most accommodating and flexible in helping us to choose the foods we wanted.
The ham and leek pie was the perfect size. The sauce was delicate and complimented the pie perfectly.
The outstanding plate for me was the Eton Mess dessert. Sublime. Perfect.
Thanks to the best wait person - a lovely girl from Caines Australia- she was very helpful and perfect personality.
Husband’s soup was delicious; my “wild mushrooms on toast” were very disappointing - flavour completely overwhelmed by vinegar from capers & whole thing very dry; main courses good although all food very highly seasoned; expensive for what it was; venue is cosy & staff friendly. Better restaurants in the area.
The waiting staff were very attentive and knowledgeable. The gravy for the oxtail and kidney pudding was, for me, a touch over seasoned. Everything else was delicious.
Extremely over priced for what was mediocre food. The Chocolate Wine desert was particularly disappointing. Even though we only live 10 minutes away, we won’t be going back
Nice bar area upstairs to enjoy a pre-dinner drink.
Had the tasting menu, and a pescatarian alternative.
Enjoyed all the courses except the mains. Nothing wrong with them, just ‘Ok.’ Highlight was the chocolate and raspberry dessert.
A bigger cheese selection would be most welcome.
Would return, but not until the menu has changed.
Gorgeous food in a chilled pub setting. The plaice dish was unusual and sophisticated.
Strange food and presentation. Some dishes need explaining .
Certain bar prices way overpriced
Have been local customer for many years, doubtful if returning
£375 for 7 without wine not greatest value,in this area
Lost the personal touch. Difficult to contact restaurant directly
Pub upstairs a wonderful place for drinks before the meal, some unusual decorations such as chandaliers made of shot guns gave the place a quirky vibe, cocktails great.
Food was good but not great value I would go again mid week and go for the better value set lunch.
We hadn’t planned to visit the Hind’s Head but are so glad we did, and will certainly be back! The service was excellent and the food delicious. The upstairs bar area is worth getting there early for - fantastic cocktails and interesting surroundings. Really loved it.
I booked for my daughter's birthday. The staff were friendly and helpful. Tables are not too close to one a another. The whole atmosphere was very good. The food was excellent and we were able to sample the wine before ordering. Overall a lovely restaurant and we would definitely go again.
Fabulous meal prior to our feast at The Fat Duck the following day
Absolutely delicious, great service, expensive but highest quality ingredients.
Fabulous restaurant, lovely ambiance, delicious food and staff were fantastic. They made us feel very comfortable and were great with our little girl who is 18 months old.
Superb. The term Gastropub doesn’t do justice here. Fabulous food and great staff. Thoroughly recommended.
It was good! Nice and casual, great service, we were happy!
The Hinds Head is back to its best with amazing quality British food. The service and ambience is relaxed and welcoming and the whole experience is always enjoyable.
Made to feel welcome for a birthday meal
Staff organised card for birthday person and were attentive throughout
We arrived to celebrate a friends 40th Birthday and immediately made to feel welcome and sat in the bar for wonderful cocktails, a great chat with the waiter and a peruse of the menu. It felt comfortable and unhurried. We were shown to the table and although very busy, didn't feel that we were not getting a high level of attention and some great advice on which wine to choose. Nothing was too much trouble and one of the dishes was changed to accommodate a dislike of beetroot. Service was excellent the food was delicious, we all had different 'favourites' from the taster menu and there wasn't anything we didn't enjoy. Great place to eat and we will certainly be sharing our experience with friends.
The service is impeccable Attentive enough so not in the way. Very knowledgable on the menu and drinks
The food was delicious. Never have had a bad meal there. In addition they allowed us to take a little left over home for my dog unlike other establishments
I felt valued, comfortably full. And have already booked the next trip!!
Superb food, excellent service, and congenial atmosphere
One of the best Sunday lunches we’ve had for years. Recommend the Sunday set lunch.
Food mediocre campered to the Fat Duck and Dinings. Expensive for a pub. 179£ for three mains, no starters and no alcohol. Cute place for alcohol and snacks
It was my husband’s treat, for our anniversary. The restaurant made a little chocolate surprise for us both, which he enjoyed.
There was a large group, in the restaurant on the table next to us, who were fairly rowdy - Which, I appreciate, wasn’t the fault of the restaurant.
A suggested “crumb down”, after each course would improve the experience. However, we always enjoy the wonderful food, and visit whenever we can, usually for special occasions.
We booked a table at the Hinds Head to celebrate my birthday which was duly acknowledged with a card from the HH team.
We had a cocktail first in the upstairs cocktail lounge, which was excellent and we were able to peruse the dinner menu and wine list. We were then taken to our table and we both went for the tasting menu which didn't disappoint, each course was delicious and I couldn't pick a favourite. There wasn't a wine pairing but that was OK as all dishes went perfectly well with the bottle we chose.
It was unfortunate that we had a very loud lady dining at the table next to us, it ended up with us moving tables, the staff were discreet and the enjoyment of the evening improved dramatically once we were somewhere where we only had to listen to each other! You can't choose who sits next to you, I just wish we'd asked to move earlier.
All in all a great evening for my birthday celebration, lovely food and lovely staff.
We went for my wife’s birthday. Told them prior to going that it was my wife’s birthday and after our desert a wooden board with happy birthday written in icing on it came out with some chocolates on which was a great touch.
Overall food was great. I had the steak which was cooked perfectly. If I was going to be fussy I’d say that the sauce that came with the steak was a bit too salty for my liking but apart from that we had a great evening.
This was my 5th or so visit to the Hinds head , true to form the experience was excellent again . Lovely setting , good ambiance , great service and above all the food is divine.
A visit to the Hinds head is always special .
Wonderful.service, fabulous food! Set lunch menu was a great price and so delicious. Would definitely visit again!
Still my favourite place to eat
An excellent dining experience with a good menu and attentive staff. I live in the South of France and it would be difficult to find such good food and service here
I miss the pub feeling that it used to have. You can't get a pint at the downstairs bar anymore. Also the old menu was far better and more ample - this one lacks in options. However, the new dining room is very nice, the food remains very good and the service was excellent. Still a great place to go, but not sure it's better than it was. Only negative is the wine list - needs more price variety (especially claret)
excellent lunch and service with a great ambience.
Loved it! First time and we'd definitely return. Excellent service and delicious creative food.
I've been visiting the Hinds Head for almost a decade and it's always been good but this visit was terrible. It baffles me that, in a relatively quiet restaurant, anyone would sit a couple next large groups with young, noisy families when quiet areas are clearly available. On top of this, not clearly stating Open Table that lunch menus are not available on Bank Holidays is frankly unforgivable.
Fantastic lunch there Sunday for my girlfriend's birthday...can't fault anything!!
