The Hind's Head - Bray
On the ground floor, the Restaurant has been remodelled whilst conserving the historic feature and integrity of the building.
Upstairs, our guests are invited to explore the Royal Lounge bar. An opulent space, perfect to indulge in our cocktail list, refined spirits, small batch gins and our fantastic champagne and wine list combined with our new snacks menu. We would advise arriving 30 minutes before your reservation time to enjoy the full experience.

Magnificent gastropub steeped in history and showcasing the finest of British cuisine.
I took my aunt here for her birthday and we both opted for the 5 course Christmas tasting menu which was delicious and well paced. Each dish was presented beautifully and managed to strike a perfect balance between elegance and indulgence.
Service was professional and attentive with a personal touch. I would particularly like to commend sommelier Lowri on her enthusiasm and knowledge of wine and the affable manner in which she engaged with us at the table whilst serving.
The atmosphere is very cosy with gentle lighting, wood panelled walls etc. It wasn’t a cheap meal, however you certainly get what you pay for.
Absolutely fantastic. The waiter Jack was amazing. Very funny man who had absolutely the right level of interaction. I cant thank him enough, he made us feel special. Amaxing cocktails. A very pretty location. We were made to feel very welcome. I cant wait to go back again.
Incredible food and amazing staff! 10/10 would go back!
Best pub experience in the UK!
Fabulous taster menu, very attentive service and great bar area.
Best roast in the UK.
super nice and tasty food, lovely ambience and very nice service, we will definetely be back👍🏻😊
Great place, superb service, really good food and The Royal lounge bar is one of a kind with an amazing atmosphere
Fantastic food fantastic company and the front of house staff are amazing!
Now just need to get a table at the fat duck, to make my life complete
Fabulous as ever
Took my wife as a late 30th birthday outing. The service was amazing and the food even more so. Glad we were able to find our new 'special' restaurant that we can go to for those extra special occasions.
Without a doubt the best gastropub one could visit - impeccable cuisine, service and ambience. Not somewhere I would take a toddler but for any other occasion, perfect.
Booked last minute and had a fantastic meal with great service.
Set menu was excellent value and very tasty dishes but it would have been ever better with a vegetable Provided with the pie.
Great place. Superb food and lovely ambience. The renovation has been really tastefully done and it’s a great complement to the Fat Duck.
First of all the Hinds Head food is great, we loved every course of the tasting menu. The venue is relaxed and comfortable, and the staff pleasant, but there were a couple of issues that may put us off returning.
We were celebrating a birthday, and as I'd mentioned when booking online, I was a little surprised that there was no reference to this when we arrived, however because the Hinds Head is a high end restaurant, I took it for granted that everything would be under control - so when there was no mention of it even after the coffees, I decided to say that we were celebrating a birthday, and that I'd notified them when booking. The waitress just looked blank, and said she'd get the card machine! On paying, I asked what they normally do when it's a Birthday? The waitress apologised, for our occasion being missed, and said that normally the petit four would be put on a bigger plate, (presumably with a birthday message).
Then, as there were no staff nearby , we went to the bar to ask for our coats. They were duly retrieved and handed to us, rather bizarrely rolled together, as if they'd just been picked up from a pile. As we had been perfectly pleasant and easy going, it didn't feel like it could be a deliberate slight, but it was definitely odd.
Ps I've just read another review for the Hinds Head this month, also remarking on the the fact that their Birthday had been missed, so it's a recurring theme - which could easily be avoided via the greeting/waiting staff making subtle enquiries as the guests arrive.
Fantastic meal with great service today! Great lunch!
The steak, dessert and cab sat from from washington were excellent
Could have had a more varied Wine List - there were a large selection of wines in excess of £100 but only two red clarets for less and one of these was £95
The food was delicious. The service was immaculate. The staff were all smiling and very polite. I would recommend this restaurant to any of my friends or family and would love to return again.
The Hind’s head is one of these places with a superbly creative take on every day good pub food ( amazing scotch eggs ! Oxtail and kidney pie etc )
We adored the starter, but our mains were over salted, I am adamant that it would have tasted superbly but I just struggled to taste past the salt content
Strong wine list , wonderful athmosphere and fantastic front of house staff
... we will be back, but please easy on the salt in the kitchen ! :)
Food excellent - tried the tasting menu. interesting combinations and twists eg scotch egg with mustard and pea and ham soup.
Atmosphere very noisy and frenetic activity. Not good for a quiet birthday meal for 2.
Service speedy and enthusiastic and well intended but not well coordinated asked at least 6 times about drinks.
Where we were seated was very very poor. A corridor for people coming in and going upstairs for drinks and then standing behind us when coming down again to get to their seats in the main restaurant. About 100 people went back and forth. When we realised that there was actually a restaurant area we asked to be moved but were advised that it was not possible as they were too full. No effort was made to move us as tables emptied to the other side of the door or as couples left the restaurant. We asked to go somewhere else for coffee.
It would be good if "the manager" or Heston sat and tried to enjoy a meal just inside the door.
Will not go again even though food very good as would not wish to risk the same seats. Would go again if part of a large group.
Always a great dining experience not matter what the occasion
Guaranteed quality and good service
However a little conservative on serving the bread - just half of a single slice
Absolutely spectacular. Sommelier was lovely!! Must get the scotch eggs.
This was my first time to the Hind’s head, I had been to the fat duck the night before which was amazing and the hinds head was a great finish to a magical short trip, the food was excellent, presentation was perfect and service was beyond my expectations. The team were very friendly and welcoming, they even gave me a birthday card on arrival which was a nice small touch. I would highly recommend the Hind’s head for any occasion or even just a nice change of scenery, the pub is beautifully decorated, warm and inviting, I can imagine in the evenings it would be like something out of a movie.
Too expensive for what it is. Went for the 5 course taster menu, the soup (1st course), lamb (4th course) and cheesecake (5th course) was a good standard, I wouldn’t say it is was excellent though. The goats curd (2nd course) was dreadful and the earl grey smoked salmon (3rd course) was a bland.
Overall Hinds Head didn't disappoint - food was outstanding and the staff were very nice. We asked to move tables as we were in a draft which took a little while but did eventually. We had to give our drinks order three times to three separate waiters/waitresses so communication probably could improve amongst staff members. We had the 5 course tasting menu which was incredible and the wine choice was fantastic.
Hinds Head is a real treat. Food is exceptional and there's a good cocktail menu as well. Staff are pleasant and attentive and make the occasion enjoyable.
Food couldn’t have been better and amazing service from all the team! Faultless
Underwhelming given the expectation level. Tasting menu starter, lamb quality and dessert very good otherwise not outstanding. Great ambience, setting and ID.
Amazing food, great service!
I have driven past this venue many times and this was the first visit.
Can’t wait to go back again... the chicken main course was especially delicious!!
Great food and service, nice table and attention from serving team and sommelier, mains were a little slow but worth the wait, even when first choice wasn’t available they advised on special from off menu. Upstairs bar was relaxed but a little dark and you need to keep checking on table as otherwise would leave you there, we waited 30mins past our 9pm reservation but was good cocktails. Overall a lovely evening, next time would go a bit earlier, suggest 8pm.
Our first visit and very impressed with the cooking, service and setting.
We were a little nervous before hand as we’d heard anecdotally that it had taken a turn for the worse. However, our experience suggests otherwise.
All the plates we had were excellent, demonstrating a wide range for flavours, textures and cooking competence.
Without exception all the staff understood and could articulate every dish; it’s ingredients, cooking and why each ingredient was on the plate.
The sommelier was also approachable and gave sound advice and guidance for our choices without being condescending.
A very enjoyable evening in pleasant surroundings, but top marks for the cooking and service.
Excellent and attentive staff with outstanding food. Pricey, but you get what you pay for.
Last minute decision and had a great evening
Service was excellent, food great and done to perfection
it all seemed so seamless, short intervals between courses, all staff friendly and helpful
would certainly go again and take friends as well
Great food. Great service
Had a fantastic evening. The wine and food was amazing. Even gave my partner an extra treat for his birthday! Would highly recommend and would definitely visit again.
Excellent impromptu evening out. Decided to have the tasting course which was excellent with just the right size portions . Would thoroughly recommend a visit . Not cheap though.
The service was perfect, not too intrusive, very considerate, polite and professional but whilst being friendly and talkative. The menu offered a variety of different tastes for all food lovers, fine dining and creative twists on traditional pub classics. The venue is a beautiful old pub full of charm and with very tasteful decor. Initially it was quiet and lacked atmosphere as there was no music playing but once more people arrived it was busy without being packed and the positioning of the tables meant that you still had privacy. We would definately go here again and it is definately a must visit if you are in the area and want to eat out at a quality and moderately priced restaurant.
