Went to downtown location. 3 couples. Food was excellent. Fun to interact with the students. Noise level very, very loud. Difficult to hear any conversation at our table.
It was our first time and we will definitely be returning and referring. The service was perfectly paced.

Very good food, superbe présentation and service, we loved it and will certainly return. Thanks to all Sait Students and Professors. We really recommend it. And the price for a superior quality and presentation of a 4 courses meal is very very good (around 50.$/per)
The four-course fixed price menu has interesting variety, beautifully presented and perfectly prepared. It’s fun to support the students in the various programs. They try so hard, and are so attentive and careful.
Food was delicious and high quality as always. Presentation perfect. However the servers were particularly hard to hear as they spoke too quietly and a language barrier made it hard to understand at times, although they always had a smile. They n Ed to speak up when taking plates away or it’s impossible to hear them from behind.The special of the day was not clearly articulated. It was noisy and hot in the Taste Market for dinner. However, the price cannot be beat!
Great variety of choice on starters ,main course and deserts. Everything was displayed beautifully. Servers were willing to answer questions regarding the preparation of selections offered, The service at the table was very efficient and friendly.There were ten of us at our open tables do we were all very happy with our experience.
My only concern is the difficulty in finding parking space.We came in two cars.
The evening was great. We had a wonderful evening. Our server Josh did an awesome job. The food has varieties of flavour, very tasty. It’s a five course meal and the timing for each meal is perfect. Each food served is done and prepared very well. Great price and very satisfied.
My dinner was very good. I had the Brie fritters, the butternut squash soup, the Nicoise salad and lamb chops. All very good! The dessert was the tropical something, which was also very good.
My wife, on the other had, was quite disappointed. She had a Margarita which was too sweet and lacking in tequila. Although she loved the Brie fritters and butternut soup, she was very disappointed the charred carrot salad. She also had the lamb chops which were a bit underdone for her liking even though she asked that the chops be cooked to medium. Her dessert was very substandard. She ordered the “student” choice, which was a hazelnut cake. It was dry, hard and had little taste.
Was it worth the price? Not really. It will be awhile before we return.
The only critique would be that our cocktails arrived at the very same time as our appetizers! We would of preferred them before our meal arrived. Other than that the Highwood was worth every moment. The whole experience was excellent! Great Job!
Enjoyed the enthusiasm of the staff, the creativity of the dishes served but would like servers to be more relaxed and interact with us a bit more. We really wish the servers the best in their future careers.
Excellent food and service
The food and services are bad compare to previous years.
First time experience and it was great. Fantastic presentation, fast and friendly servers, food was excellent and prices were great. I will do it again and recommend the Highwood to friends!
great service and accommodation of gluten-sensitive requirements
We had some trouble finding the restaurant as our attention was drawn to the obvious restaurant on the main floor, so we didn't see the signs to the side directing us around the building.
Our cocktail server was very green and made a very bad error by dumping a drink on my back. He needs to have intensive practise carrying a tray with tall slim glasses of water before putting him in service. Management looked after the problem nicely though and the service staff quickly helped me get comfortable.
The food was very nicely done, the plating superb and the taste excellent.
We thought it was odd that our three meals weren't brought out on one tray which would be placed on the tray stand. Instead two were brought out on a separate tray which was placed on the large round table adjacent. I couldn't help wondering how they would have managed had that table been occupied.
All in all we enjoyed our evening.
Excellent food, only thing that I could say I would prefer would be a salad that had more salad. I like a salad that isn't just nice to look at but also has some substance. With all the other dishes you will leave full but I do love a good salad and not just a deconstructed one.

It is always such a treat to go to this wonderful working classroom, where the eager young students are pursuing their culinary dreams. I just love it! The young people are so sincere, polite, caring not to mention wonderful at their chosen craft. I always enjoy time at the Highwood ☺️, and have been happy to introduce new fans over the years !
We met friends who were visiting from out of town for lunch at the Highwood. Everything was wonderful - the food the service and the opportunity to enjoy a nice meal with friends!
The student lunch buffet is well worth the price. The food is excellent and the selection is outstanding. As the dining room is run by students, the service can be a bit awkward but everyone is polite and helpful. It's a unique and worthwhile dining experience.
I was not really impressed with the food. My grits came out cold and the duck was really dry.

The food was delicious but they ran out of the lamb which we hoped to order. Our server was confused and did not know details of the meals. Fortunately we remembered to ask to about soup and specials or we would not have been told. Server tried her best to check things with chef and did get our order correct but we had to wait quite a while to order and then to get our food. There is construction around the restaurant at present which makes the entrance way unpleasant. Sometimes t is very obvious that the servers are chefs not servers...this was one of those times. Not the end of the world but just a new experience. Love this restaurant but one can never expect everything to be perfect. ..especially service.
Had dinner at The Highwood before a show at the Jubliee and what a perfect way to start the evening. Ross and Patricia were friendly, personable, and were every bit as amazing as the food that evening. We had the theatre menu that night as we only had a hour before the show but we can't wait to come back for the full experience.
Everyone was pleased with their food selections. Great assortment of breads to try. However, the menus and bread were a bit slow at arriving as we sat around waiting for that and our drinks to arrive. It wasn't that busy so not sure if it was these students' first night.
Also, they need a sign at the top of the stairs to indicate where to get your free parking pass so you don't wander all the way in.
Overall the night was fabulous, great food, wonderful service. Cannot wait until construction is done then the ambiance will make it perfect!
Went for a a birthday Lunch with 2 friends.
We tried two of the soups but both were way too salty.
Two of us had the Poke bowl which could have been more flavourful.

I love the ambiance and have never had a bad meal. Really enjoy trying the different dishes especially the buffet. Most of the time the service is awesome but on occasion you can tell the server is a bit nervous but we try to give them positive feedback. Great job.
Exceptional food and service. Price is creeping up and not often do I want to spend $30/person for lunch, but great for a special occasion.
Went to school here in the professional cooking program and it's nice to finally be a customer there! Food is high quality, friendly staff, and atmosphere was amazing. Can't wait to come back.
The Highwood is a training ground for our future culinary stars. I have always enjoyed my experience there as I appreciate that the restaurant business is demanding and the students have chosen to learn the proper way. Our server Tom was very helpful and met my expectations. We were a table of 5 at a table of 8, and the SAIT team was able to find a alternate arrangement fort a more intimate setting. The 5 course was great, with lots of good flavours and excellent presentation. Well done!
We celebrated our daughters birthday dinner at SAIT and were all very happy with the service and food. Our daughter in law is severely dairy allergic and our waitress Tingting was fabulous in making sure that everything she ordered was ok! We’ve always had great experiences and plan on coming back!
The meal and presentation were awesome. The culinary students in SAIT's programs did a wonderful job all around. A five course meal with upscale ingredients and presentation - was a wonderful experience.
Will definitely be going back.
A little trouble finding the building once we were on campus especially with the construction outside.
The food was excellent, especially crème brulle. I wanted to take one on the road. everything tasted delicious. Definitely coming back.
The quality of the food, the flavours and selection was outstanding!
We were impressed and got great value for our entertainment dollar. Food presentation was very impressive and I only wish that some of the chefs in training would consider Red Deer as a place to be.
The food was delicious, presentation perfect. The service is a little slow because the students are learning so you have to be patient. It took us 2.5 hours to eat our 5 course meal which was fine. Don't go there if you are in a hurry!
The appetizers where delicious, lamb was amazing and the butternut squash soup was very tasty.
I will definitely go back.
