The beer menu is as diverse and exciting as the food menu, plus a great collection of craft cocktails. The meals were largely excellent, with a couple of minor criticisms (duck confit salad was great, but the confit was quite salty, affecting the "balance" of the salad; duck pasta was great, but the cream sauce was a bit too "ducky" (presumably from the duck stock), which overpowered the cipollini mushrooms, peas, and pasta. Overall, one of the best 2 restaurants (of the ones I tried) for dinner in Cambridge, MD.
Friendly reception and very good waitress. Simple clean decor. Good food - the baked Brie was very tasty but the duck confit was way too salty.
It was just okay. Extraordinarily bright. Service was slow and unapologetic... took 20 minutes to get drinks. The food was half hearted... rice had a film on top like Mac & cheese that was left out. It was a bummer.
went for our 10th anniversary and loved the place. Very nice staff, great food, and a charming place!
We went last minute on Easter Sunday, Service was great and food was very good. They were out of several things, but otherwise a nice menu. Save room for a milkshake for dessert!!!
Delicious crab cake and fish and chips; excellent service, and wonderful ambiance
A favorite when we're traveling through Cambridge - the food is inventive and dependably wonderful. The bar is cozy and the entire place has a wonderful neighborhood feel. The General Tso's cauliflower is always decadent surprise we hope they never take off the menu. Many folks come for the great selection of craft beers - many local- but the cocktails are always delightful. A cucumber gimlet on our last visit had surprising "pucker power" that paired well with the sweetness of the chili sauce on the cauliflower. Great way to start a meal. The High Spot has such a friendly, comfortable vibe to it - makes us wish we lived in Cambridge.
Had the Black and Blue burger. Gourmet burger, taste was great but smaller than expected considering the price point ($18).
This was a special occasion for my sister's 50th birthday and we were treated very well with great food and service.
It was St. Patrick's Day. We had to wait for a table to clear ~ Totally understand. The waitstaff was handling the crowd very well. The Ribeye Special was fantastic. My Wife would prefer a few less onions in the Chicken Pot Pie, but it was enjoyable. We will return when we come back to Cambridge.
screwed up dessert & hostess copped an attitude when we complained, but waiter was nice and adjusted bill. So ok overall.
We always go for the truffle fries and duck fat burger. So good! Our cute, very pregnant server was awesome. The kids meals include dessert (a brownie) and are very tasty - kids ate every bit. The best dessert was the hot fudge brownie sundae. Delish! It was loud in there, but the restaurant was full because of St Paddy’s Day. We will be back, for sure!
We used to come fairly regularly and this was the first time in a while. Was very surprised to see $17 burgers. They were good, butnot the price point I would expect to see.
Cozy neighborhood bar and restaurant. Clientele seemed to be made up of locals - they seemed to know each other. Everyone, including staff, was really friendly. Food was really delicious and the menu is inventive. Not the usual bar food. We will go back again when in the area. Highly recommended.
We came in for dinner on a Saturday night. We sat near the front and it was a little chilly inside the food was great but there was a very loud drunk woman at the bar that almost made us leave
The food, service, and value were great. There were quite a few families with small children so not the perfect spot for a romantic dinner but otherwise my experience was outstanding.
The deconstructed chicken pot pie was a bit odd but good.
The Fish and Chips were way too oily.
The 2 steak dishes were very well cooked and tasted great
After reading reviews on this place I was expecting a lot better. They need to update menu that's online. I ordered filet and asked for well done. Lets just say it could still walk around. Sent back and still wasn't done. Husband ordered crab cake and was told it came on a bed of lettuce. Well I guess lettuce looks like corn cause that's what he got. For the prices of food it should of been way better. Will never go back there. Don't waste your money.
Although this is a cute neighborhood restaurant, it’s only average in all respects. I ordered a burger with blue cheese. The cheese was an unmelted block that made the burger hard to hold together and there were raw onions, lettuce and tomato as well as the grilled onion, cheese and bacon. My friend had the special Po’r Boy that was mostly bread. They were out of half the deserts on the menu, and half the deserts were layers of cake, ice cream and sauce, or deep fried toast, ice cream and sauce. This place clearly thinks the more stuff you pile on the better the plate rather than editing and understanding the combined taste of each dish. Though quite popular, this place is only average.
The olnly downside was the waiting. Despite reservation there was a wait to be seated at a table, a wait at the entrance for someone to acknowlege us and a wait for the foo. the waiting was quite a bit longer than normally encountered. That said, the food was exc3ellent. they had amberjack, a fish that is hard to find in its native territory and it was cooked perfectly. the salads were very good also and my husband had a great shrimp dish. worth the drive to go. Just facotor in a bit of waiting to you calculations
Four of us got together for dinner and we all had a FABULOUS MEAL! All 4 of us cleaned our plates which truly is amazing given that the 4 of us each had something different to eat. I honestly think all 4 of us would have licked our plates clean if there hadn't been other people around!
Wonderful, delicious food at a reasonable price AND lovely cocktails as well!
Love this place! A definite gem in Cambridge!
Great service and good food! Very nice ambience.
Reservations a must! Drinks are on the expensive side, and an exactly measured pour. Appetizer and dinner was great. The steak we ordered was overcooked, the waitress removed it and brought a correctly cooked replacement in a timely manner. The chef ask us to accept a dessert on the house for the inconvenience. We accepted and tried the bread pudding - yummy! Full tummy, Nice!
Six met for lunch and everyone was pleased with the service, food, and pleasant atmosphere.
Always have a great time at The High Spot! Love the ambiance, beer/wine choices.
My main suggestion is they need to offer at least one vegetarian option.
The manager was kind enough to help me create a yummy dinner, but every item on the menu had some sort of meat included....
I didn't want just a side salad for my dinner.
Despite this, my food was great and we will definitely go back!
The food was excellent, service prompt and professional.
Food is great, but acoustics are terrible. It is difficult to carry on conversations because off the lack of sound buffering.
Great small place right down town. Jordan took great care of us and food was excellent
Consistently good food and service. Reminds us of a neighborhood restaurant in the city. We will be back again for sure.
Three of us ate here on a Saturday afternoon. It was delicious food. My only small complaint would be that it was a little chilly when we arrived. Food was all very delicious and creative.
The High Spot was a perfect place to meet friends for lunch. We all had crab cakes. They were so delicious. Will be going back soon.
A great neighborhood spot in Cambridge. We often stop here on the way home from the beach. It's not far off of Route 50. Awesome drinks and good wine list. Menu changes often.
Never disappoints, cheery staff. Always something new to try.
This is one of the downtown restaurant. It has the bar and dining table. It has the happy hour price, which is very reasonable for the burger. We had burger, not bad for $7, but not as good as McCormick, Ruth Chris, or Morton's happy hour burger. But much better than the fast food burgers. I had cream crab soup, very rich. Just try to not pay attention to the calories. As the bar is in the dining hall, so it was not very quiet place. Overall, happy hour price is good. Food is not bad.
First time here, chosen based on great reviews. Did not disappoint! Hillary our server was great, personality and efficiency. Started with pickles, which were perfectly fried, not greasy at all (spears vs chips if you have preference) however, one of the sauces served with was so salty inedible, thankfully they didn't need sauce. Potatas bravas also good, not greasy, but lacked seasoning of any kind. Entrees: chicken & waffles GREAT, smoked mac & cheese GREAT AND HUGE, Filet & poutine GREAT, Puruvian chicken was just OK, again too salty with not much other flavor going on. Dessert: bread pudding, different, more like french toast, but GREAT flavor, chocolate mousse GREAT, cookie "bomb" was just that, a bomb, not GOOD. Cookie was hard & crumbly, served room temp not warm. Overall we loved it, decent wine/beers, interesting cocktails. Cute atmosphere. Would definitely go again.
restaurant was out of several major menu items.... convinced to have the crab cake.... figuring it is Maryland, it would be great. It was awful.
Wonderful! Delicious poutine and fish and chips. I highly recommend this restaurant located a 10 minute walk from Chesapeake marina.
I really like the High Spot, it's reliably good quality with decent service
While the food was very good, the service was a bit uneven with delays getting some drinks, and the bill brought before one of the desserts arrived. The noise level inside was horrible. It became impossible to hear each other without screaming. It's too bad because I really wanted to like High Spot. Love the food, hated the noise level.
