The Heritage is always a great choice. Supporting student learning while having great food? Yes, please!
Enjoyed the restaurant. Both the food and service were exceptional.
It was the best experience we ever had. The food was the BEST!!!
I love the fancy food and presentation in a relaxed, educational setting. Our server knew exactly which dishes accommodated allergies and special diets. Lunch tasted simply divine, of course, and dessert nearly stole the show, as usual. (Always save room for dessert!)
Delicious food, great service and a unique experience. Great value for the price!
The food was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. It is hard to believe students did this. The servers were very friendly and happy to answer any and all questions about their experiences. Ambiance average as it is a school setting but they make the most of it. Service could be 5 Star with a little work on timing and where to serve from for the helper servers. Main servers Sondra and Hollis were wonderful. The food was better than what we had at the CIA in Hyde Park. We will go back!
Every time we want something out of the ordinary, we choose The Heritage. The service is beyond great and with a pleasant ambiance. Most importantly, the food choices are always a wonderful surprise. The only thing that could be better is if they were open in the summer.
I was at the Heritage for lunch with 5 friends. It was their first visit and they absolutely loved every minute. The food was excellent (tenderloin was perfect). Every part of the meal was delicious (from the bread to the desserts). The service was also handled very good by the students. My friends were very impressed with everything. They are still talking about their dining experience. It is definitely worth the trip. I personally enjoyed the table side tea offering.
The Heritage is a fantastic experience for those looking to experience fine dining at a lower expense than normal. The students that make up the staff are all enthusiastic and willing to help in any way. While it is formal dining, I found the experience to be extremely relaxing and felt comfortable while there. The food is to die for, and there is plenty of it over the course of the night - so come hungry!
Amazing food!!! The whole experience is so wonderful. Heritage is run by the culinary school and provides its students with real world experience. Make reservations because it only operates while student are in session.
Enjoyed the food and tea a lot! Tasted delicious! Wonderful looking plates!
Wanted valentines evening but already booked. Two nights later was just as good.
Kids do an outstanding job in food preparation and service.
Also the brewery is outstanding for beer and horderves (sp?) glad to see the brewery is also popular. The curriculum must be pretty vigorous because these kids are doing an amazing job!!!
Beautiful presentation making everything visually appealing. I tried foods that I had never
eaten before and was pleasantly surprised with the flavors and blends of seasonings. I wish I could repeat the meats and sauces at home.
the food was great, but the hostess sat us in a terrible spot so we asked to be moved. The server forgot to serve us one of the courses of our meal and never even acknowledge that they she fogot an entire course of our meal.
This is part of the Culinary Arts program at Grand Rapids Community College. Servers and cooks are students. It is the best value in town. Great service, excellent food, affordable prices.
Great experience, food and service were excellent. Wish they would serve wine during lunch though .
Amazing night! Staff was awesome and the food was to die for.
The only thing I would mention is the noise coming from the bar.
Great service and food, we ended up really full but everything was delicious
The food was delicious and they always do such a nice presentation. The service was very good. The students always do such a nice job.
Take it from two people who have eaten at five star restaurants around the globe and even here numerous times. Our meal today was one one of the best ever. The black bean soup, chicken tortilla soup and the coconut shrimp bisque were all exceptional. The fish and beef main courses were perfectly cooked and balanced in both flavor and color. The chocolate gateau heavenly. Service excellent with a smile. Thank you.
I excepted much from The Heritage after reading review after review about how wonderful it is. The food was mediocre and definitely not worth the price. The noodles for dinner tasted weird and the flavors did not go well. My girlfriend did not enjoy the experience and would have rather had gotten something cheaper and tastier than seemingly good food and environment. The soufflé was way too cheesy and the flavors were not balanced out correctly. My girlfriend did not finish any of her dishes. What a disappointment! Also, the waiter gave us our tab before serving our dessert. I would not recommend. There are so many more options than what we got.
This was our first time here. We’ve been wanting to try this place out for over a year. We were there celebrating our anniversary and my mother’s birthday. The food was really good. A couple of mishaps (steak being over cooked and running out of some desserts) but they were able to resolve those things. We can’t say enough about the outstanding service and we had a wonderful time as well. We will certainly be coming back.
Everyone we interacted with was so real....down to earth and informative on their careers and ambitions. The mid length blonde manager was SIMPLY OUTSTANDING!!! Her customer focus was rich, her communication and followup were clear, genuine and thorough. She made us feel like family. Loved loved the learning atmosphere and the (minor)mistakes and slightly nervous moments. I believe it, made us feel comfortable and human. While upscale, it was not stuffy or too starchy formal....it was a delight to be with my wife in your establishment. Thank you thank you. Anthony and Jill
Price Fixe Dinner Venue ( Amuse-Bouche, first course, main course and dessert)
Excellent and uniquely varied selections for all courses; staff was attentive and enjoyable; all food preparation was of highest quality and presentation.
A limited by very adequate wine selection.
The venue was very comfortable with an enjoyable view of the city in a very quiet atmosphere.
Although this is a learning site, the students do a great job. Chef’s Schultz and Gendler always make sure we have a positive experience. The food is amazing and the portions are just right.
I definitely recommend The Heritage. The food and service were excellent. Be prepared to spend 2-2.5 hours, definitely a special occasion place.
Second day of being open food was great and service was amazing too. My friend never been there so we went for lunch and she can't stop talking about.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience at the Heritage and would recommend it to anyone looking for phenomenal food at an amazing value.
Great place to celebrate a special occasion—creative food artfully presented. I like that the mandatory tip goes to a culinary student.
Fancy dinning at a more affordable price since it's a teaching restaurant. Always good food and pleasant experience.
What a refreshing change to gourmet dining. Students are learning but well trained and attentive. Food is artfully presented and delicious. Pour over coffee a special treat and desserts are a must have!!! Don’t miss this rare gem of a dining experience for lunch or dinner
It is my pleasure to introduce The Heritage to those who have heard about it, but never had the opportunity to experience such a wonderful culinary experience. I am looking forward to two more group visits in January and February. Thank you Dan for the lovely table and thank your team for a delicious journey.
This is a teaching school so this is understanable. Our waiter was extremely nervous and made several errors with the drinks. Our table was right where the staff all stand while waiting to go back out on the floor. It was a little annoying and took away from our table conversation.
Overall it was a nice lunch and we will be back. I have been coming here for several years and always look forward to it.
All of our food looked like works of art and they were outstandingly delicious! One of the best meals of our life!
This GRCC Run and student-cooked & served restaurant is a nice dining experience. The dinner menu is now a 3 course fixed price option. Lots of nice starters: a deconstructed roasted beet salad, a carbonara prepared table side, the long-standing mock eel which is fried shiitake mushrooms in a sticky sauce; entrees included a wonderful tasty pork dish, duck with apples in the accompanying side that everyone loved, chicken in a broth with noodles, 3 scallops with crispy crackers on a little bit of sauce. For dessert, we enjoyed the very sweet apples Normandy prepared table side and served with ice cream, the chocolate cake served with little bits of candies citrus which were the perfect accompaniment, and the poached pear.
Service was attentive and sincere.
The best value in town! Food is delicious, beautifully presented, and the students serving the food are so attentive.
Enjoyed a pleasant evening with special friends in a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. The food was very good and presented well. The service complimented the meal by being attentive and friendly. A very good night.
Excellent choice; can be challenging to get a reservation due to lower enrollment.
Excellent, creatively prepared entree. Squeaked in with the last available of a popular lunch special. Attentive wait staff. Beautiful view overlooking the city. Prices are slightly higher than an average lunch, but these are no average lunches! Would highly recommend.
The experience was exceptional. The wait time for your meal to arrive is lengthy but the food is good.
