The Heritage is one of the many classroom/laboratory facilities operated by the Secchia Institute for Culinary Education at Grand Rapids Community College. The restaurant is staffed by students in the culinary programs and is under the direct supervision of Chef and Dining Room Professors.

During lunch, your meal will be prepared and served by first year students. The meals represent International Cuisine with modern and classical touches. In the evening, The Heritage reopens to feature a relaxed atmosphere, more Continental Cuisine, and our second year students will serve and prepare your meal.

The Secchia Institute for Culinary Education restaurants and kitchens are classroom settings. We take pride in them. Our students prepare our meals daily with the finest seasonally available ingredients including freshly baked artisan bread.

The Heritage Restaurant is one of our very favorite places to eat at. It's an elegant place, has high quality food, and the workers are very professional even though they are students who are learning the business.

Great experience overall! The food was perfect, still dreaming of my dessert. Best bang for your buck to get a 3 course meal and support local students! Definitely recommend for a fun experience.

The food was impeccable. Beautifully presented. So many flavors. Just loved what they did with their food. The service could have been better. We know they are students and are learning. Our server just seemed almost scared of us. When asked about food descriptions she was hesitant and gave minimal information. She will get better….. The room is temporary because the restaurant is under renovation. So we we just in a classroom with no windows. So not bad…. But nothing special either. The food alone was the star of the evening!

with the Heritage moved to a conference room instead of it's usual spot (due to construction) the ambiente lost a lot. Also the food selection was smaller than before and that was a bummer too.

The Heritage Restaurant never disappoints! The food is amazing, and the students and staff are knowledgeable and attentive. With the restaurant being under renovation, the physical space was not as inviting as it usually is. However, this should definitely not discourage anyone from going. Such a hidden gem! Thank you to the culinary staff and students for an outstanding lunch. We will be back soon.

We enjoyed everything. We thought the appetizer and dessert were tops. Since you serve international entrees there needs to be a little more explanation on the menu as so many of the words were not familiar. Here is my recommendation. I had a Filipino meal and it was good but I thought there was too much soy sauce for my taste. I like soy sauce but would have enjoyed it more if there was less of it. Overall though it was great.

As travelers we've learned to frequent culinary restaurants whenever there's one close by. The Heritage is fine dining staffed by culinary students under direct supervision of Chef Professors and Table Service Professors. The students cook and serve fabulous meals, and what an awesome experience for BOTH the students and us foodies! It was a pleasure dining at The Heritage on April 1st, food was amazing, photos are beautiful, staff was great.

This is my favorite place to go out to eat. There is always something new to try. I would advise you to try to souffle. If the Mock Eel returns that is also a favorite. The service is always great and it is a private atmosphere. They follow all safety procedures during COVID so I felt very comfortable. Dinner is my favorite experience but lunch was good when I went for the first time this week. Finding reservations can be difficult. I hope this changes once COVID is over because I would love to go out to eat here more.

It is always a 5 star experience. Hats off to Dan and Chef Schultz for a great job of guidance for their students . Always so grateful of service and accommodation .Looking forward to a return visit next session .

Outstanding. The experience is fun and the food delicious. Parking slightly confusing, but the meal and service well worth it. Duck Rangoon appetizer was our family's favorite.

The food and presentation is great. Depending on the time of year you go, the staff may be at the beginning of their training or the end. This time it was the beginning and we were interrupted numerous times for the instructor to educate the server.

We were impressed by the health measures taken by the restaurant and staff. We had our temperatures taken, everyone wore masks, the staff wore gloves and tables were widely spread out. The food was delicious. Our server made a change to our dessert order to accommodate a birthday girl. The Heritage always give us A+ service. We would certainly go back.

Always interesting foods well prepared and served by culinary students. A great place to go for a more reasonably priced fancy meal. Nice for a non-rushed leisurely meal, but not a place to go if you want in and out fast. Enjoy the experience!

Our server Gabe did an excellent job answering questions about the menu, and responding to the needs of my colleague with food allergies - above and beyond what I would have expected. The food was great - and there was plenty of it without being a food trough. The quality of the food and the serving was SPECTACULAR. We expected a few hiccups because students are learning, but there were fewer than expected. Friendliness and responsive!!!!

Finally, I have to give kudos for the cherry dessert. I felt like I'd transported to Leelanau County and was able to eat every single kind of cherry delight invented. Yumm!
