Adam was a great server. Food outstanding. Recommend the Bourbon French toast and lemon chia seed pancakes. Yes, was skeptical about chia but it was delicious. Only complaint: we sat outside and the cushions were dirty and the table should be rinsed off with a hose, otherwise relaxing and pleasant ambiance.
Unfortunately there was no mention about the change in location. Food was very good and reasonably priced. There were options for everyone in our party (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free). Overall a very nice meal.
Such a cute little restaurant with great service and amazing vegetarian options. I had friends prefer the veggie options and loved all the variety!
just a lovely quiet spot with amazing food and excellent service.
The prior location was much, much better along the landscaped canal.
Nice setting, great service. Food was good.
Excellent! Everyone’s meal was excellent! Nothing left on the plates!
The vegan choices at this restaurant are SUPER tasty. The outdoor dining in the courtyard was enjoyable & the service was attentive.
Our server was good and very nice. He was knowledgeable about the menu but being new to the area he didn’t know the area well but that was ok. My sweet potato taco was good and my husband liked his farm bowl. We sat outside in shade and it was pleasant! We enjoyed our lunch.
Delish! Beautiful fragrant outdoor patio seating. Salmon was perfect
Service was a little slow. Food was delicious! Dessert was fabulous!!!!!!!! Server was great!!!!!!!! I think there was just not enough help.
Stopped in for brunch on a Sunday, food was great but service a little slow. Would definitely try again.
We ate here for dinner - but the atmosphere and menu seems better suited for a fun lunch get-together or celebration than for a more formal dinner. The food was very good and the surroundings are pretty.
Excellent service- great food!
The Herb Box always has great food, using many local and natural ingredients.
Food was great
Outdoor patio is very enjoyable. The great food i have come to expect from the Herb Box.
Inside is almost unbearably loud
The menu was a pleasant surprise for a vegetarian -- plenty of offerings to choose from. Seating was okay and our server was excellent - if I have any 'complaint' it was the noise level - rather on the high side for my taste.
Hi Judith! Thank you for coming in to visit us and I'm so glad that you enjoyed the food! We love to hear when guests enjoy what we offer, so thank you. We hope to see you again.
A nice dining option in old town. Sat in courtyard. Server was excellent. Food very good. Try the butternut squash enchiladas. Not something I would ever think of eating but they were recommended and I now know why. Will go back soon.
Hello there Biz Foodie! Thanks for coming in to eat with us! The butternut squash enchiladas are a house favorite, so I'm so glad you enjoyed them! Thanks for visiting and we hope to see you soon.
The new (to me) location has a very nice shady patio and an interesting menu.
We specifically went to this restaurant because they have so many Gluten Free items on their menu. HOWEVER, their food is not Gluten Free!!! They do not have separate fryers for the fried food items they mark as GF! The waitress who was very knowledgeable said the GF items are made with no gluten, however, they do not separate anything, she said there will absolutely be cross contamination. She sent the manager (?) over, who said "we try not to fry gluten items in our fryer, but we can't promise". I asked why the salmon was not marked GF and her response "it should be, not sure why it's not". Clearly, we left. We were very disappointed because the menu was right up our ally.
Sheryl, First I want to thank you for thinking of our restaurant & giving us a try. I’m sorry that everything didn’t work out with your visit. When you highlighted the fact that you had Celiacs Disease, the manager, Katia, wanted to ensure that you were aware of the potential for cross-contamination for your safety. We take allergies & intolerances seriously, but cross-contamination is a possibility in all restaurants that are not exclusively gluten-free. We will private message the rest.
Love new location! Great outdoor seating & service. Nice lunch options!
Food was great, except ribs should have cooked longer ( meat a little tough )
The service was very slow and my chicken was extremely over-cooked. I have eaten at this restaurant a couple of times before and had great experiences. However, this time was not great. The table next to us was so obnoxiously loud, which is not the restaurant’s fault, but no one did anything to perhaps ask them to keep it down. The appetizers were delicious, though. The vegan coconut cake was terrible.
After bringing us soggy plantain chips to be dipped in crab dip that tasted like melted plastic and an overdone flatbread, they soon followed with our very bland mains. There was very little time between our starters and mains so our tiny little table was packed. When they asked if everything was ok, and I commented on how the mains came too fast, the server got the manager, who came over and who’s only response was “I’ll be sure to put on the comment board that we need larger tables”. Just horrible service. The food is also ridiculously overpriced. I can most closely compare it to the days when I scrounge a meal together using the remnants of bits of leftovers in my fridge...just throw it all in a bowl and heat it up.
Hi there, I want to apologize for the experience that you had. This is not the experience we want our guests to have when visiting our locations and I truly apologize. I will take note of the suggestions on the food and pass them on to the kitchen, so that we can address those concerns. I would also like to address the concerns of lack of service with the staff; do you remember the name of description of the servers who waited on your table?
In general I like Herb Box's food, but yesterday the sweet potato chips where chewy.
The service was very good
The place is a bit too noisy inside, I guess it is because of the wall and floor STC ratings.
Love that Herb Box has taken over the great space where 5th & Wine used to be. So much easier to access, better parking, etc. Will try more of their food before I give a definitive answer on "Food." Salad was good......not outstanding. And the iced tea was mediocre. But we'll definitely return!
We ate outside and had a delightful meal. Get the Brussels sprouts.
The concept and ambience were nice but the service was lacking. The food was okay but lacked that wow factor.
Removed edamame from appetizers menu which was our favorite. Then out of the salmon cakes. Server indicated may be bringing back edamame in updated menu. Trout with waffles sounded better than it was - waffles were dry, preferred trout dinner they used to have. We usually have a good experience here, but this was an off night.
Great soup of the day, although it was supposed to be red pepper bisque, it ended up being tomato and artichoke. It’s a really good thing I’m not allergic to tomatoes. Other than that, the rest was pretty good.
Out of town guest
We only eat here if we can get a table on the patio because the noise level inside is deafening.
2 visits to The Herb Box and I can honestly say it's one of the best dining options in metro Phoenix. Interesting food that's perfectly executed. A simple BLT was elevated to pure decadence. Don't miss this place.
Due to what was said to be a change in the kitchen staff, we waited a long time for food (they did comp one dish), but had very irregular services overall. This has been my go to place, but I don't think I will risk taking people there again. Overall, a disappointment.
Our server was amazing. Food was great & fabulous mimosas!
I like this new spot better than the old spot in the waterfront! The food is better than ever!!!!
great patio when the weather is nice, good wait staff
