The Haven burger was amazing!
Good beer selections and tasty food. Uncomfortable furniture and loud.
Every time we visit Boston we make a dinner reservation at The Haven. The food and ambiance have always been great.
I’ve been almost a regular for six months. Love the salmon, Scotch egg, haggis, Shepherd’s pie... this time I tried the gazpacho because it was too hot for haggis and even that was delicious, and I’m a Spanish teacher! Also their burgers and homemade ketchup are to die for, and don’t even get me started on the sticky toffee pudding! I usually get single malts or the Bobby Burns, but my mom got a gin and tonic (infused with lavender and pineapple?) and that was amazing, too! Great place, friendly people. ❤️🏴
Great menu with authentic Scottish fare, nice selection of whisky and lovely atmosphere.
Food service and beer were excellent, wish the a/c was a little better but not a deal breaker. Will definitely go back
Food was amazing. Always wanted to try haggis and it didn't disappoint. My wife had the burger, which tasted great and cooked perfectly. Definitely try the Scottish eggs and the cheese platter. Great beer and ciders. Finished the night with the fried Mars bar. All around a great experience
One of my favorite restaurants. Friendly atmosphere, great service, awesome food. One of the best burgers in Boston!
Amazing burgers! Welcoming staff!
The Haven is an independent restaurant specializing in Scottish cuisine and it’s excellent. Highly recommend eating here. Great food, great beer, great service. What more could you want?
What a great find. It's like an established Aberdeen local dropped out of the sky, complete with owner, kitchen and ambiance. Great food, drink and conversation. Go today!
Cozy and charming ambiance. Deviled Scottish egg app was amazing. Starter salad and burgers were delicious and flavorful. Solid cocktail and beer list. I enjoyed the Paloma cocktail and finished the meal with a pour of a nice peaty scotch. Overall a solid place for a bite and a beverage!
Amazing gem! Love the food, quality of drinks is amazing and staff is attentive and warm. Feels like I was eating at a home! If I lived in Boston I would be there every week! And they play soccer. Will be back for sure!
A comfortable place with friendly staff and good food. What's not to like?
Overall amazing amazing experience!
Would recommend but not for brunch. Lox Ness Monster has lox pickle in beer juice (huh). Bubble and Squeak was utterly tasteless. Finnan Haddie had very little Haddie. Overall very disappointing.
Met my sons and daughter-in law for brunch on Sunday. We had a fantastic meal! The savory porridge, the scotch eggs, and poached pear were outstanding. Our waiter was perfect. I live in New York and whenever I visit the kids in Boston, we will share a meal at The Haven.
We love the Haven. The atmosphere is great, the staff are friendly, and the good is consistently good. It is a great place for brunch on Saturday and Sunday.
Met an old friend there for dinner...decor was very cute, very "Jamaica Plain" and it seemed to be popular with locals. My friend and I split the salad which was yummy, but her lamb lollipops were overdone and not especially good. My salmon entree was delicious. Prices were a little high for what we ordered, so not sure I could afford to frequent it too often.
Enjoyable experience with a great waiter. He steered me in the right direction Food was fresh and delicious
Yes. Food, ambience, and service were great. Crowded, though, and noisy at time.
Yes to recommendation, but not based on this visit. We felt rushed and as if we were annoying our server with our simple requests: water for the table, dessert menu. Food was very good, as usual.
This place is great and one of a kind
Loved it. The entire experience was well worth it! I had the Fish Dinner and my dad and brother both had the Burger - we each tried each other’s food and everything was fantastic. If I’d had the burger I could easily say it was my favorite. We also had the Scotch egg and bridies, both of which were delicious. It was a great for my brother to be able to have Irn Bru and Scoth in the same sitting. The staff was wonderful, very attentive. Next time I’m in Boston, I’ll be back for sure!
Another lovely evening and meal at The Haven -- the fish dinner is the best fish & chips around (great piece of fish, gently cooked, complemented by nice fries and great mushy peas). Wonderful choices both of beers and mixed drinks. Each time we come, we wonder why it has been so long since our previous visit.
We recently visited on a Friday evening with our toddler, and The Haven couldn't have been more accommodating. We made a note in our reservation that we would need a high chair, and they had one set up before we arrived! The staff was also very friendly, and they had lots of great food for both adults and children. Would highly recommend.
Best burger in Boston, hands down. The ambience is also super cozy and inviting! I absolutely love The Haven.
Food was good and reasonably priced, but I had made a reservation for three people and we were seated at a large communal table that was shared with other parties, which was disappointing.
The Haven was a great brunch location. We can't wait to go in the evening for food & drinks.
The Haven is a cool neighborhood bar with decent food. It’s Scottish restaurant. Service was slow and felt like we were inconveniencing our server.
It’s got a good vibe and definitely worth checking it out!
We love The Haven. Great food, even better beer on tap, and reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere (sheep on the walls) and friendly service. One of our favorite local places to eat out in this part of Boston.
Good food and service. The only downside was that we were seated at 7:20 for a 7:00 reservation.
We always enjoy it, even more so since they have added malt whiskeys. The last visit coincided with an event (cheese and Scotch); we hadn't checked and that was a loud mistake on our part.
This was our first time at The Haven; we went because we enjoy trying new scotches as we were not disappointed. The selection was impressive and our waiter (or the bartender if he didn't know) were knowledgeable. The mixed scotch drinks were amazing (the Bobbie Burns is my new favorite!) The food was delicious!! Tasty and hearty without being heavy. The salmon was incredible, the chicken sausage flavorful and juicy. The toffee pudding was highly worth feeling stuffed afterward. Mikey never made us feel rushed and made our experience special. We will most certainly be back!!
First of all, I am Scottish, so biased in favour
of such an establishment. I'm very glad they have PG tips, a smooth black tea. So far only here at brunch.
The porridge was lovely but could have had a few more blueberries for the $8 price.
In the past I've had the quiche which suffered from a somewhat soggy crust, so we skipped that option. The poached pear & sorbet was super, albeit a oversweeted fruit sauce. The Scotch egg a wee bit over cooked but with great sausage flavor. I've been here before & shall return
We went for brunch. Great food and fun, casual ambiance. The decor is eclectic. I've eaten here for dinner before, too, and it was also delicious.
Really good cooking but it was expensive. Vegetables perfect! Noise level was fine but was probably negatively impacted by our giddy table. Service was what you expect at a pub, but not what I expected for those prices. But to be fair, a good portion of the tab was pricey scotch, which, after all is said and done, was the whole object of visiting The Haven! Would gladly dine there again.
My kind of scene. Great food, great people. Our waitress was very nice and on top of things. She had great recommendations for drinks. We will be back to try brunch!
We tried this on interest of trying something different. I would recommend to a friend to try but prepare them for the wait and cost.... Food was interesting. Savory - Full Scotch Breakfast was filling, tattie scones worth a trip, delicious marmalade and bread, Scotch Egg wrapped in grilled sausage. Glad we went. But service was slow in a 50% full dinning area at 11:45am seated; we didn't get food until 50 minutes later. Hot coffee refill for my husband on 1/2 a cup was an added $3. $6 for standard coffee seemed excessive. Staff was nice and friendly. Table was really sticky..... the napkins stuck to the tabletop... Would I go back again ? Mehhh.... Maybe this comment will help improve.
As soon as we walked in we felt like we were back in Edinburgh. The ambiance is EXACTLY like any small tavern in Scotland. I was happy to have Edinburgh Gin and tonic as well as Thistly Cross. The guys all had a few harder to find scotch varieties (Tobermory, I love you but oh the peet!!) Haggis was more traditional and liver-heavy but good. Cullin Skink was SPOT ON. The Salmon was delicious as were the veggies. I had to have a deep fried Mars Bar, it's a thicker batter than I've had but ohhh ig was yummy. The only downside, and it was no issue to us AT ALL, is that it is small and quarters seemed to be too close for some other people's tastes but truly it's part of the experience. We (party of 3) were at a large table with a wrap around bench that could seat 8-10? A couple came in very unhappy to have to share a table, even with multiple empty seats in between. Seemed a bit silly to me. Its cozy, food is so warm and comforting, staff was grand. We will be back!!!
