Cozy and felt authentic. Brought to mind the Ploughing in Cambridge. Bartender a bit curt but wait person lovely. Food and drink excellent. Nice place overall—I’d go back. Good value too.
lovely staff, great food, pretty quiet and chill environment as well so great for a small gatherings or dates
I know it's a Scottish restaurant but could you add a pasta special? Our last meal there was very good. The service is Amazing, as well as, the ambience.
We arrived at 10:15 PM for a late dinner on a Friday night. The place was lively but not loud. The late night menu is reduced from the overall menu. The food we had was very good. They have a selection of imported beers and good cocktails. They have an excellent selection of Scotch.
Took a client there, which saya a lot. Food and drink have been consistently outstanding and we can even hear our own conversations.
Very good. Scottish cuisine is interesting. Different flavor combinations than I am accustomed to. Drinks were very good. The toffee pudding was good.
Great burgers. Friendly service. Comfortable.
One of my all time favorite places in Jamaica Plain, MA. It is a hidden gem with excellent service, food, and atmosphere. I've been there for a pint during the World Cup, dinners with family, brunch dates, and celebrations. Every time I go, I leave delighted!
Brunch at this JP neighborhood gem. We took a friend to celebrate her birthday. We were all satisfied with our choices. The poached pear, the smoked fishcakes, the breakfast sandwich and my toffee French toast. I had to force myself not to order the same thing I've had on the last two or three Haven brunches (the delicious fishcakes with poached eggs) so I ordered the French toast. It was a true delight.
We've been many times and we always love it for the combination of the vibe and the food!
Loved this place and my fish dinner with fish and chips with mushy peas was so delicious, I will be eating here again
Nice Scottish breakfast surrounded by bunny paintings!
Just got back from Scotland and was jonesing for authentic food. Loved this place!
The Haven has a nice atmosphere - it's like your typical pub but a bit more intimate and a bit more like you're on a pirate-ship. The food is a like pub food but stepped up a couple notches. The fish and chips were delicious - a nice meaty piece of fish with batter fried to golden and crispy perfection.
Great food, love the smoked fish platter, I get it every time. If you prefer wines with dinner, the selection is not great, but it is fine. The Haven has a list of fun ciders, stouts and beers.
The food was delicious and the ambiance was very congenial.
Our second Sunday brunch at the have in the last two weeks. We enjoyed to so much last Sunday we wanted to share it with friend. We all had Bloody Marys which really are among the best I've ver had. I repeated my meal from las week having the smoked fish cakes and eggs but this time I ordered a side of the house made back which was out of this world. My wife switch from the toffee french toast (last week) to the poached pear and she was very pleased with it. Out friends had the french toast and the fish cakes as well. All very delicious in a really pleasant setting and being that we visited Scotland recently we felt right at home. Same server as last time and same excellent service. The Haven is a contender for the best brunch in Jamaica Plain if not all of Boston. Loved it. In fact we're planning on going back for dinner soon.
The food was very good, and seemed very authentic Scottish breakfast and menu! Really liked it and would go back again if I am ever in the area for breakfast or brunch.
The Haven burger was amazing!
Good beer selections and tasty food. Uncomfortable furniture and loud.
Every time we visit Boston we make a dinner reservation at The Haven. The food and ambiance have always been great.
I’ve been almost a regular for six months. Love the salmon, Scotch egg, haggis, Shepherd’s pie... this time I tried the gazpacho because it was too hot for haggis and even that was delicious, and I’m a Spanish teacher! Also their burgers and homemade ketchup are to die for, and don’t even get me started on the sticky toffee pudding! I usually get single malts or the Bobby Burns, but my mom got a gin and tonic (infused with lavender and pineapple?) and that was amazing, too! Great place, friendly people. ❤️🏴
Great menu with authentic Scottish fare, nice selection of whisky and lovely atmosphere.
Food service and beer were excellent, wish the a/c was a little better but not a deal breaker. Will definitely go back
Food was amazing. Always wanted to try haggis and it didn't disappoint. My wife had the burger, which tasted great and cooked perfectly. Definitely try the Scottish eggs and the cheese platter. Great beer and ciders. Finished the night with the fried Mars bar. All around a great experience
One of my favorite restaurants. Friendly atmosphere, great service, awesome food. One of the best burgers in Boston!
Amazing burgers! Welcoming staff!
The Haven is an independent restaurant specializing in Scottish cuisine and it’s excellent. Highly recommend eating here. Great food, great beer, great service. What more could you want?
What a great find. It's like an established Aberdeen local dropped out of the sky, complete with owner, kitchen and ambiance. Great food, drink and conversation. Go today!
Cozy and charming ambiance. Deviled Scottish egg app was amazing. Starter salad and burgers were delicious and flavorful. Solid cocktail and beer list. I enjoyed the Paloma cocktail and finished the meal with a pour of a nice peaty scotch. Overall a solid place for a bite and a beverage!
Amazing gem! Love the food, quality of drinks is amazing and staff is attentive and warm. Feels like I was eating at a home! If I lived in Boston I would be there every week! And they play soccer. Will be back for sure!
A comfortable place with friendly staff and good food. What's not to like?
Overall amazing amazing experience!
Would recommend but not for brunch. Lox Ness Monster has lox pickle in beer juice (huh). Bubble and Squeak was utterly tasteless. Finnan Haddie had very little Haddie. Overall very disappointing.
Met my sons and daughter-in law for brunch on Sunday. We had a fantastic meal! The savory porridge, the scotch eggs, and poached pear were outstanding. Our waiter was perfect. I live in New York and whenever I visit the kids in Boston, we will share a meal at The Haven.
We love the Haven. The atmosphere is great, the staff are friendly, and the good is consistently good. It is a great place for brunch on Saturday and Sunday.
Met an old friend there for dinner...decor was very cute, very "Jamaica Plain" and it seemed to be popular with locals. My friend and I split the salad which was yummy, but her lamb lollipops were overdone and not especially good. My salmon entree was delicious. Prices were a little high for what we ordered, so not sure I could afford to frequent it too often.
Enjoyable experience with a great waiter. He steered me in the right direction Food was fresh and delicious
Yes. Food, ambience, and service were great. Crowded, though, and noisy at time.
Yes to recommendation, but not based on this visit. We felt rushed and as if we were annoying our server with our simple requests: water for the table, dessert menu. Food was very good, as usual.
