The food and service were fantastic, as usual. We always feel welcome there.
This place is a treat for those craving a good Scottish meal, which is hard to find around these parts. They have a great selection of drinks. My wife loves Thistley Cross Cider and this is the only place we found it. The Cullen Skink was 👌 5/5 delicious! I can't wait to come back for whisky tasting .
Food was outstanding. Table service was great and enthusiastic. What was weird was the host kept staring at us, made me feel like I want really welcomed.
The Haven offers a unique and authentic experience. They’ve got the Scotches and dark beers and a kitchen to match. *
Our party of 4 had a wonderful evening out at the Haven! The food was excellent, the service top, and the specialty beers and drinks were delicious and fun. We picked the Haven for dinner after seeing it on Chronicle. Definitely 5 stars!
The Haven is always a nice experience with delicious food and drink. One of my all time favorite places to go.
A favorite spot in J P for lunch and dinner. This dinner visit was made perfect by the reservation system. We arrived on time and our table (the last one vacant) was waiting for us. The noise level was a bit high, but manageable even for this octogenarian.
A group of us meet on the same day, every year, at the Haven since 2011 and the great food , service and atmosphere has never wavered. I wish I lived closer so I could go there more often.
Love the place. Unique food. Great cocktails.
We had the tasting menu. The food and service were outstanding.
Excellent food, great service, amazing selection of beer and scotch.
Family get together on New Years Day, great food, attentive staff and overall a good time.
Although not local for us I am sure we will return and enjoy the food and drinks all over again.
Whoever made the restaurant playlist is awesome; chill vibes for a nice New Year’s brunch with friends. I was sad the porridge wasn’t available (it’s SO DELICIOUS), but to be fair it’s typically a Sat/Sun only option, New Year’s Day happened to fall on a Tuesday this year and a good portion of the brunch options were still available for us to enjoy. I’m a huge fan of the Bonnie Paloma - had 3, almost got another.
Great food at a pretty reasonable price. Excellent selection of cocktails, nice cozy atmosphere
Please have waitstaff write down orders or do it digitally (via wireless) when taking the order. Our waitperson missed one dish which then was late to the table of 6. However, food was very good. Will come back!
We had a marvelous experience at the Haven. The staff was very accommodating, the food was outstanding and the ambiance was lovely. We chose the Haven to celebrate our 30th anniversary and we will definitely be back.
Great food, great beers. Favorite neighborhood spot.
Great waitress, wonderful drinks selection, and shepherds pie to die for
There isn't anywhere else you should eat fish & chips -- this is an amazingly good piece of fish (and very large) woderful cooked and paired with fries that must have been an intact potato at the time you placed your order. Pair that with a broad list of beers you won't find anywhere else and a scotch whiskey list that is remarkable for things you haven't yet discovered and you can't go wrong. Other items on the menu are great (especially the lamb shanks, when available) so everyone can be happy.
Service was excellent. Food as very good. An enjoyable evening
Go to The Haven on a cold winter night! The hot food and the neighborhood pub atmosphere will warm you right up. My husband is 75 and rather hard of hearing, and although the restaurant was full and a bit loud, my husband had no trouble. We noted the clientele included young and old, gay and straight, buttoned up and go-with-the-flow. I loved the cauliflower soup with deep fried chickpeas, as well as the Shepherd's Pie. Cozy, comfortable atmosphere that almost makes you feel like haggis is a normal dining option. The owner was helpful when there was a slight problem with our reservation and the waitstaff was friendly. We will be back.
Always a great time at the Haven - and their brunch is particularly delicious! Excellent, friendly service, great food, great drinks, cosy atmosphere - what more could one want?
Catching up with an old friend, business lunch. Tried a few very interesting and delicious beers, cocktail and explored their lunch menu.
The beet cured smoked salmon was amazing.
Smoked whitefish, leak and potato soup was an amazing take on something that resembled chowder. It was Hearty, thoughtful and filled my soul and stomach.
Burger.. awesomesauce! Cook to perfection, balanced, dripping juices.
Great recommendations and understanding of the menu by the bartender and server.
I’m a pretty tough critic when it comes to restaurants, I will visit here again and it’s worth the drive!
Authentic in it’s presentation of a Scottish pub.
Don't know why I hadn't been there sooner! Everything was great. Will return in near future to try something more daring to eat.
I had been coming to The Haven frequently when I lived in the area but hadn't been back in some time. I'm happy to report that it is even better than I remember it!
Good food, great atmosphere!
The Haven has been my local for almost a decade now. They have the best fish supper, cheeseburger, and breakfast sandwich around. They recently added a whiskey menu and tasting events that are great. I head there on the weekends for brunch and Premier League soccer. Always my go to when recommending restaurants in J.P.
Fantastic food and beer
This place was awful. After chasing down someone to wait on us to merely get coffee it was served cold. They sell very few non alcoholic beverages ie iced tea, coke , lemonade. They do make their own ginger ale. The staff was haughty and never available. The table next to us got up and knocked on the kitchen door to get help. Food was average but very limited menu. They have 4 stars on open table which they do not deserve
I was honestly incredibly disappointed by The Haven. I'd heard incredible things and the menu looked really interesting. I went for my birthday and thought we'd splurge and get the tasting menu. HUGE MISTAKE!!!! There were 4 courses, the first was nice. I was given a cheese stuffed pastry and scotch egg, delicious. My parents got a beet salad, also very tasty. The next course was haggis. The waitress was evasive when asked what it was, and just said "it uses every part of the sheep". The plating was unappetizing and the taste was disgusting. The waitress later said even she didn't like it and it was an aquired taste. If it's an aquired taste, why would you serve it on a tasting menu?????? The next dish was incredibly plain, just stewed potatoes and vegetables with plain, buttered rice. For desert there was a scoop of ice cream over fruit. With all of the great looking items on the menu, it feels like the tasting menu was just cheating, giving the worst of a menu that looked good. It sucked to look around the restaurant when each course came out and wish I had what everyone else was eating. REALLY disappointed in this whole ordeal...
We've been to The Haven 3 times in as many weeks, have taken friends to dinner there, and will be back shortly. It is a very snug little place with exceptional food and drink and good service. We're in town for a few weeks and I wish we could take The Haven back to LA with us. Highly recommended.
Wonderfully prepared food highlighting the culinary delights of Scotland. Delicious and beautifully presented, along with a great selection of Scottish beers and spirits.
The food was good and so was the service. The noise was intense. You felt very welcome welcomed at the Haven.
Loved it! Pretty neat to have a full Scottish menu so you could have some bites. Went there for brunch and thought it was outstanding; their niche menu is so creative yet tempting to try everything! Highly recommended.
Started with seating problem - table too small for 3 normal sized people -but staff fixed in reasonable amt of time and we had enjoyable dinner
Great bar selection
We have been going to the Haven for over 10 years and we are never disappointed . The food is always good, the service excellent and the atmosphere is great.
The Haven remains one of my favorite spots for eating, relaxing, tasting new types of whiskey, gazing around and always seeing something new! It's authentically Scottish, it supports its neighborhood and local artists, it's a place where you feel at home because the Jason, Andrew and the servers are all friendly and personable. I've introduced many a friend to the Haven and they always become fans. Can't say enough good things about this place. My only reservation is that by bragging on it, it'll get so crowded I'll never get a seat. :)
Friends and I had a pleasant lunch on a recent weekend. There was no host when we entered, but I think that was because on this holiday weekend she was doing triple duty--hosting, bartending, and serving. Nevertheless, she was attentive as our server. The salads were a little anemic looking and we would have enjoyed having bread or crackers with them.
I've enjoyed the restaurant more for dinner, but we were able to have a quiet friends' lunch here.
My two guests from out of state enjoyed my usual magnificent evening at The Haven. One of of friends from the South (Alabama) had eaten there previously and demanded that we dine at The Haven prior to his departure. Neither he nor my other friend was not disappointed. The service and food were, as always, spectacular, and we all look forward to our next visit!
