The Hat Resto Pub
Was a great night out for my birthday and the service and food were excellent!
It was business lunch with a colleague and friend. We were able to socialize and discuss industry developments without being subject to intrusive noise. The food was hearty and tasty and came promptly after being ordered. The staff provided my preferred drink without being asked - which was fun.
Food was just ok. Should have had the burger instead of chicken.
I reserved a table and it said it was confirmed and the restaurant was closed. Awesome....
Food was out in good time. Service was excellent. Sadly, I was ill after having the Shawarma wrap.
The staff and the owner were welcoming and good company. After a discussion with the server, I tried a vegetarian burger I'd not had before and did enjoy it. I'd order it again. In short, it was a sustaining and revivifying meal after a tough work day and kept me free from after-work junk food.
Excellent food and great service. I would highly recommend!
45 minutes for a burger and rude comments from staff. Will not be back.
Fun atmosphere with lots of fun cocktails. Great food.
Food wasn’t very good at all.
It's a place where the owner works hard to take good care of his staff, as well as his patrons; so, there's a level of comfort and efficiency that isn't seen in places with a culture of bullying. And the food is prepared and presented well and is reasonably priced for the quality. And I enjoy the food, as well as the owner's knowledge of whiskies, for he's introduced me to 2 or 3 that have become mainstays for me.
Fantastic restaurant! Highly recommend both the food & the drinks.
Great food, reasonable price, very friendly waitress.
Signature burger was fantastic!
Generally the food is quite good, I have eaten here many times, but today not so much and portion size of one of the dishes has gotten smaller and smaller and less toppings and same price or higher. Another dish the chicken tenders were quite hard.
I will try again because I don’t usually experience this here.
Till next time
We found that the food was a little hit and miss. 2 people from our group had to send food back due to it not being very well cooked and others in the group noted that the food was somewhat bland.
We booked a table for a party of 10 and were not seated at one table but rather at the bar tables in 3 tables of 4. Not ideal. The venue was also hosting a paint nite party so they good the good seats.
There is also no vestibule so every time the front door opened we got a big cold gust.
The location is great- we walked to the citadel afterwards.
The music selection was strange. At a point in the evening heavy metal like music started playing which I felt didn't really go with the vibe of the venue.
Venue could do with some accoustics and some updating.
Great food. Understaffed , took forever to get drinks / atmosphere , very quiet atmosphere had hoped for it to be a bit more lively. Very neat looking inside , has the potential to be fantastic just needs better management.
We had booked a reservation ahead of time. We sat down at our scheduled time and placed a drink order shortly after we sat down. We received them and one of my friends asked for a glass of water. We were still looking at the menu at this point. We didn’t get any acknowledgment whatsoever for the next 40 mins nor did my friend get her glass of water. It seemed like they were incredibly understaffed - there was an oilers game on in the city and there was a paint nite on in there too. We waved our server down and just asked for our bill so we could go somewhere else. Our server didn’t even acknowledge how terrible the service was as we settled our bill. I will never ever go back there again.
We had a lovely chat with the owner, we could tell how proud he was of his restaurant and how his goal for his customers was that they had a great experience
Server was friendly and accommodating. Fries were amazing. Came out piping hot and seasoned perfectly.
Always great food and service at The Hat!
Good food, our server was good, but the individual who greeted and seated us got grumpy when we indicated that one of our party had cancelled at the last minute. Apparently we were costing him money. Probably won't be a repeat customer.
Food is always good, prices are always decent, service can be hit or miss but its ok. Definitely recommend for lunch... and the crab cakes. They are soo good. Burgers & mushroom soup as well.
Large booking for a business lunch. Service was intermittent with food coming out in batches. Food was ok, but not worth the price.
This is a good spot for dinner before any event at Rogers Place. Close proximity to the arena, the Resto Pub is a cool spot, with great burgers. I had the Cajun Chicken Burger and felt it was awesome. Was a little noisy and only one server on so not the fastest place, but would definitely go back. Good food and location.
The servers were fine but it took a bit of time to get the food out.
Sub par food, great Caesars. Short staff, lots of dishes left on tables. Great waitress though and friendly owner.
Brought a friend here for his first visit. He really enjoyed the overall dining experience.
An oasis after work, it is convivial with satisfying, well-perpared fare that sustaining, unpretentious and tasty.
we go to the hat often - its close to work, they get you in and out roughly within the hour for lunch. We have never had any issues. Good food, good service, what more could you want.
Food and drinks were delicious and the service was great!
I've been to The Hat multiple times and have always been fairly impressed with the food and service. Unfortunately on this visit, neither me nor my friend were overly impressed with our food; the mushroom soup was below the regular standard they provide. The meal sized salad I received was almost wilted, and the chicken that I got with it was over cooked and very 'firm'. It was hard to cut with the butter knife provided. I was disappointed, as I'd had the same salad before with chicken, and it was delicious. For over $20 for a salad and a drink, I expect that salad to be delicious. In addition, they seemed short staffed; there was only one server/bartender for the entire restaurant. The poor girl was trying her hardest, but by the time we left, almost half the bar was filled with stacked up dishes she'd cleared from tables. Hoping this was a one-off, as this is one of my preferred destinations for lunch during the week.
Soup tasted like cream, no flavour. The hot dog was dry and over cooked.
Great place downtown Edmonton for lunch, supper or drinks. The soup is always good and the burgers and fries are always a hit. My favourite appy is the perogie nacho's. You could make it a meal for one person. Thank you management and staff.
Good and quick service at a moderate price. Very much appreciated the ambiance and look of the restaurant, and would most definitely dine here again.
Have been here for many times with large and small groups. always great time, tasty food and great service. peak time better to reserve.
Popped into this pub for a bite to eat and a few drinks before a band show at Starlite room. The location was great, and we really liked the food and the atmosphere. The prices were pretty decent and good value for your dollar. Cheers!
What an absolutely disgusting lunch.
Our food took exactly one hour to arrive. The table next to us had their food packed to go right out of the kitchen because we all spent noon to 1 pm waiting for our lunch to arrive.
The manager/owner’s behaviour was inexcusable. He was rude, pushy, and arrogant. We watched in horror as he treated the table next to us with blatant disrespect and anger.
My friend and I ordered nachos, crab cakes, and chicken strips to share. Regular pub food that’s hard to screw up. Well. They managed to make it gross. It was NOT edible. Stale food that tasted like plastic. We were starving and still left 90% of the food on the table.
We both had to stop at the store for something to eat on our way back to work.
Our server was decent enough but it’s hard to see a silver lining here.
Will not return. Do not recommend.
I’ve never been disappointed with this restaurant. Mike the manager/owner is warm to welcome his guests and friendly. He only hires staff that are equal to him in every aspect. This is one of Edmonton’s hidden jets, I would recommend this to anyone, anywhere, anytime.
The Hat was one of my favourite restaurants in the city, known for the burgers. The one I had recently did not remind me of those times unfortunately. Still great ambiance though.
