About

This restaurant is permanently closed. Permanently Closed - The Harbord Room is a restaurant and bar where we focus on using local and seasonal ingredients as much as possible as well as putting forth cocktails keeping true to origins and respective histories.

We are a small restaurant and limited to 20 seats in the winter months and 40 in the summer, but attention to detail and personalized service remain the heart of our concept.

We offer the same dinner menu at the bar, which is conducted on a 'walk-in' basis.

Calling just before joining us at the Bar or the Patio is recommended as we will be able to let you know the availability at that point.
We hope that you will join us for dinner soon.

Never made it to The Harbord Room. They closed. Yet they didn't let the people who had reservations know that they had closed. I found out the day before the reservation. Lucky for me. I would have been less than impressed had I actually gone and found it closed. Beyond disgusted.
And I could not even make a new reservation on OpenTable as it showed I already had one (and was unable to cancel).

Always a solid choice and has been a top 10 choice considering the time it's been around. So laid back, and great food and great relaxed service. Always a great place to catch up with friends in a "not trying too hard" atmosphere. Love it.

Excellent experience as usual.

Ronald Clayton and a Burger is my favourite here however, the real secret behind The Harbord Room has to be the fish and seafood dishes.

When we were there they were filming something which was a bit odd- cameras and lights in a tiny little space- my friend ended up signing a something for permission to have her face in some shots. Apart from that, the staff were very friendly and accommodating and comped us on coffees when the dessert cane late.

Food and drinks were outstanding. The fresh burrata and the burger stole the show. Prices very reasonable. Very lovely decor, nice ambience. Have a patio in the summer and open the front windows for a nice breeze. Would definitely go back!

Would not call it good for special occasions - more like a very loud and very hot (no air conditioning in 30 degree heat) neighbourhood pub.

The food was excellent as well as the attention to sauces, etc. We loved the linguine, the cornbread and especially, the artic char. My friend said it was the best meal she ever had. Service was also very good. We'll definitely be back.

Certainly not the best or most interesting food of my life, but solid simple menu, similar cocktail and wine list and good service.

Air Conditioning was horrible on the hottest day of the year. many flies in the dining hall from the door opening/closing. steak was overdone/overpriced.

Excellent service (Erica) - friendly, courteous, prompt, accommodating.

Suggestion: you might consider having pull-down blinds for your north window. My wife and I were with you from 7:00 p.m. to ~8:30 p.m., and during part of that time the sun reflected off the mirrors on your north-east wall into the eyes of people seated in that area facing east.

Beautiful backyard patio! Terrific service. The pork belly and liver pate appies were great, as were the pork chops and arctic char entrees. Only criticism was a dry halibut and too heavy on the mint. I would return for another meal without question!

Had the famous burger and the chicken liver mousse. The burger was very delicious, the liver just okay. The service was excellent, but it was very tight, even on the patio. Overall it was a good meal and a nice place, but maybe not deserving of all the hype.

Happy that one of my favourite restaurants is still just as consistently good in the more than competent hands of Robbie Hojilla as it was before. The beautifully smoked arctic char was excellent and had me with the spoon scraping every last drop of the sauce!

We've been coming here since they opened. One of our favourites in city. The food, drinks and service are amazing and it's a testament as to why they're still around and it's still a tricky reservation to get on most nights.

Came here last weekend for a romantic celebration. Had a 9 PM reservation, everything was bliss until the table reserved next to us showed up at 930 with an angry 3 year old. She screamed and cried herself to sleep by about 1030. Who brings a 3 year old out to dinner at 930 to a place where there's nothing on the menu for her to eat? (We heard screaming about that one as well.) You're too cheap for a babysitter but have no problem dragging your child to an expensive restaurant and destroying everyone else's evening. This isn't the Spaghetti Factory, it's a romantic bistro in a small space. There's no kids menu, no high chairs, unless your kids have respect for those around them, they don't belong here.

Thanks for ruining an otherwise great evening.

We were celebrating a friend's birthday and we brought our 2 year old toddler along. The staff called earlier that evening to ask which seats we'd prefer with the little one. When we arrived, they seated us in the corner booth by the windows, which was perfect. However, my little girl got too excited and we had to request a high chair. The staff was very accommodating and understanding and made room for the chair at our table. My girl settled down immediately, so that was good. The great service and the positive attitude from the staff made the night very enjoyable.

The food... presentation was beautiful. Everything tasted delicious. We started with the shishito peppers with miso sauce. It was wonderfully flavoured. A few were spicy, but not too hot. Next, we had the rabbit and pork terrine. This was a well prepared dish. We ordered extra bread. The pickles complimented the dish. We also ordered the roasted heirloom carrot and beet salad with couscous. We liked it, especially the halloumi, and my daughter loved the beets and cheese as well.
I saw the table next to us order the hummus, which looked really good. If we come back, I'd love to try that.

For mains, we ordered the skate wing, the pork chop, and the flat iron steak. I had the steak but sampled a bit of everything. The skate was surprisingly delicious. My husband had the pork chop and said it's one of the best pork chop he's had. He also really enjoyed the sweet potato purée. And my steak was beautifully seasoned, with roasted eggplant and yogurt. We also ordered a side of asparagus, which was good. Overall, I feel like the dishes were thoughtfully prepared and everything worked really well together.

For dessert, we shared the chocolate and tahini semi freddo - it was perfect. Loved all the components.

Overall, the service, atmosphere, and food was excellent. It was a very enjoyable evening out.

We have eaten at The Harbord Room multiple times and have been impressed each time. The burger is the best we have ever tried and this time I tried the chicken and waffles. Amazing. Drinks are always great and atmosphere is positive and energetic. Staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. Amazing as always. One of our favourite spots for sure. Always confident bringing guests to Harbord Room. We know we won't leave disappointed.
