The Happy Gnome
Extensive beer list, service and ambiance were great. Our food was delicious!
Awesome food and drinks without pretension. I have come to count on the Happy Gnome to get it done with style and class. Recommend to anyone who enjoys gourmet food while wearing jeans.
This was our first visit, so didn't know what to expect. There is a very casual feel in the front bar area, but the menu has some pretty pricey, upscale entrée items, so it was a strange dichotomy. But the food lived up to its price - very good!
Great food and service. Nice character and easy to carry on with a conversation.
Great food. Great service. Fun atmosphere. Had a great Ladies Night in St. Paul.
They didn't have our Open Table reservation when we arrived and the hostess was rather rude in how she handled it. Rather than smiling and simply seating us in the almost empty restaurant, she just stated "you don't have a reservation" even though I was showing it to her from the app. She eventually gave us a table and we were served efficiently. We had the meatloaf which was over-spiced and too dense for our liking. Not likely to go again.
Great Service ...........................................................................................
We always enjoy our experience at the Happy Gnome!!!
Good food. I enjoyed the tacos and cheddar broccoli tots.
We had a wonderful time!
Food and service outstanding!
Waited more than 5 minutes to be greeted at the host stand.
Requested a table with a little elbow room as we had someone with 2month old, didn’t happen.
Our server was not polished at all and downright rude and clueless at times. She was not good at all.
The food was mediocre.
I have been here many times and had great service and good food. Very disappointed
First time at The Happy Gnome...will be back Thank you:)
Love The Happy Gnome! Can't beat the food, bloody bar, or the tap selection.
Never a disappointment. Would recommend making a reservation. The Happy Gnome is a popular place.
I cannot thank The Happy Gnome enough for continuing to serve the BEST steak tartare that ever was. It's hard to find it at all, let alone a version that tastes as good as yours. Also, thanks to a great waitress, who ran to the lost & found and fished out a pair of cheaters for this blind, middle-aged woman who didn't remember to bring hers!!
The Happy Gnome is a gem of a place with an amazing numbers of beer on tap and food to suit any mood you're in.
I would def recommend The Happy Gnome, although our server seemed bored. Also, I am disappointed that THG is not eligible for Open Table points.
At the Happy Gnome for a birthday brunch. Everyone in the group had a great experience. Food, drinks, and service were fantastic.
Great food and very fun atmosphere. Loved the beer selection and healthy food options.
We were able to get a reservation which was great and we really enjoyed the food. It was quite loud but fun and energetic. Unfortunately, our waitress seemed unhappy and didn’t smile until she dropped off the check. No smiles at the Happy Gnome?! Oh well...we had fun anyway.
The Happy Gnome has good beers and food. They raised their prices a bit which is why they just got a three for value.
Googled restaurants near the Minnesota History Center and the Happy Gnome came up. Huge parking lot a plus. Everyone was friendly, menu super and so was the food. Great place!
We were seated right away. Great food and great beer. Good service.
Four of us had a wonderful dinner. Generous pour on the drinks. Mussels appetizer was a hit. If you like seafood, try the Cioppino - chock full of seafood in a delicious sauce. Docked a star on ambiance because it was very loud.
We started our dinner at 4:30 and it just got louder as the night progressed. We had the blackened Sandwich and the size was cumbersome to eat. It could have been served as a dinner. We liked the baked Brussels Sprouts!
Not what I expected, but pleasantly surprised. Quite spendy, but tasty. Been there, done that.
Our server was short and inattentive in the dining area but service was good in the bar. The dining room was dirty and we were sitting right next to the bathrooms and high chairs. Next time we will just eat in the bar.
Surly short ribs were good.
Our waitress was very kind and accommodating. The food is delicious, I would recommend the salmon sandwich! Only downside is it can get a bit loud during happy hour. During the summer, their patio is great!
Great place to bring group, kids loved the food. The poutine was so-so. The lobster Mac and cheese was way TOO salty. The burgers and the beet salad were amazing! The drink options were great!
Our reservation was for 6:00 but we arrived quite early; they seated us without a wait which was very nice. The menu had a wide variety of items. My daughter said the homemade Ramen noodles were the best she ever had!
Fun place and great food! Good gluten free!fun atmosphere as well and good Bloody Mary bar and mimosas!
Great menu! Something for everyone. Wonderful services.
I loved the beet salad and the beer and wine list are excellent.
Second visit. Food is excellent. Burgers, Chx and dumplings, pizza all quality. Noise level is loud but not obnoxiously so. will be back and have recommended many times.
Always a great and varied tap list at the Gnome. I have never been disappointed in the food either. It's imaginative, well presented and delicious.
Everything was great except that it was terribly cold in the dining area. Love the food and service.
food was good, nice neighborhood place, not a big fan of Surley beers, chicken wild rice soup had a weird spice - so really didn't care for it. Everyone else in out group liked the food and the cocktails.
Once again the best happy hour experience in the twin cities
Loved the chicken and wild rice soup. Lovely bar, but you can tuck away in the restaurant half and feel the energy, but still have a conversation.
