The Happ Inn Ratings and Reviews
The Crispy Chicken sandwich was not. It was over cooked and the slaw had no flavor.
Chicken Tortilla soup was good.
An Arnold Palmer was 75 cent$ more than the Iced tea… the simple addition of Lemonade does not cause a price increase where I come from, unless you add booze.
We were visiting the area and found the restaurant on opentable and decided to give it a try....it was fabulous! Great food and service, and the Banana Cream pie was the best ever, and we thought one of our favorite restaurants in N Y C had the best...not anymore, the Happ Inn is a great place to go in Northfield!!
This was my second visit with more to come to this establishment. Nice cozy place to have a quite relaxing lunch and not have a high noise level. I had a veggie burger with cheese and avocado that was to die for and my guest had a turkey sandwich with real turkey( not out of a cellophane prepack). Ample selection of Tequila and the house Jimador was excellent. Service was excellent and with a smile from Spomenka
One of the best things about Happ Inn , is that there's plenty of choices for everyone to pick from
From their barbecue pork sandwich, to their grass fed burgers, and fish choices
We had very good service and felt that the meal was not overpriced
We will continue to support the Happ Inn.
This local gem is a reliable go-to when you want a step up from your average family fare. The dining room was recently refreshed with a soothing palette and sound-dampening improvements. Menu is broad enough to satisfy my picky teenager, my meat-&-potatoes husband and my semi-foodie self.
Our waitress, Pam, was fabulous!! She added to our evening of fun and was very knowledgeable about the menu. Everything was tasty, however, I felt my ahi tuna sandwich was on the salty side. Goat cheese app and tortilla soup was yummy. Pork chop was delicious.
They did not honor our reservation request. When spoke to the manager his answer was - "we are busy, too bad! " additionally
Our server was very rude.
Very upsetting evening have eaten there before, was excited to introduce it to our friends.
However we will never be back.
The Winnetka Library was having a luncheon same day and parking was nearly impossible. My
friend had to park eventually in a restricted area - may have gotten a ticket. We were celebrating an upcoming birthday and the patient waiter surprised us with a candle and cupcake. He was extremely patient with us as we stayed a long time...Happ Inn is a good meeting place because I live in Lake Forest and she lives in the city...it is roughly half way in between. He never hurried us despite a two hour simple lunch. The decibel level at a booth
is quite a bit better than most places we have met.
The Happ in wasn't happening this week. . .
we've been there many many times before so know this was not their "norm"
our server was very slow to approach us after we were seated, and her service did not improve
we wanted to substitute a different fish for the tilapia in the fish tacos (how many articles can one read and ignore about tilapia?)
and we were told the chef would do so for a ridiculous uncharge which we ridiculously agreed to- we asked for nothing else to be changed- the tacos arrived unblackened- then came back a second time without flavoring. What in the world!
The side veggies of brussell sprouts and cauliflower were fair
We'll visit again, but certainly hope this was not a sign of things to come for the Happ Inn
I was there on a Thursday night with girlfriends! Everyone had a delicious meal and some of us took advantage of the $5 cosmopolitan! Wait staff was friendly and efficient. We were able to stay at our table and chat without being rushed away. Definitely will return!
Meat loaf and fish and chips are very good. Service was prompt and polite, but not over the top. We were seated in the front bar/casual dining area with many children and others watching sports. I didn't care for the ambiance, as I was hoping for a true dining experience, not a sports bar experience. This was disappointing, as the back seating area looked more like a nicer dining room. I will definitely give Happ Inn another try, but ask to be seated in the back dining area.
