The Handle Bar – Four Seasons Jackson Hole Ratings and Reviews
Obviously this is a Four Seasons restaurant and despite the "casual" environment, our meal still came with a pretty hefty price tag. A kids meal, soup, a hamburger, and a chicken sandwich with two beers and two cocktails was $160. The food was good, but not amazing. I would probably not go there again except for maybe a drink while watching the kids play at Adventure Park.
Kids menu is fantastic along with meatball appetizer. Pretzel appetizer was disappointing- it was like a brick. Tator tots were a bit salty. Jackson mule delicious. Wine list over priced and disappointing for four seasons. Service marginal. Restaurant wasn't very busy and we felt we had to track down waiter. Limited dinner menu - if you don't want a burger you might be disappointed though you can order off kids menu for $2 surcharge so nice option.
After reading lots of reviews about Jackson Hole restaurants we made a reservation at The Handle Bar - known for its great food and atmosphere. What a disappointment. We arrived and all of the lights were out in the restaurant. These things happen. The hostess asked us if we brought our phones because we would need them to read the menu and see our food. Really? You couldn't figure out some other way to get light? How about sitting us by one of the large big screen tvs?
Unfortunately she was right and we struggled to see the menu with no help from our server or other wait staff. The food was average when it arrived. The lights were clearly on in the kitchen but the tater tots were small and dry, the beet salad was an uninspiring mound of beets and the burger was a pile of carbs - big bun, onion rings and fries. Typical bar food done with no flair or interest.
The table next to us got free food, a visit from the manager, chef and guy who finally fixed the lights. It would have been nice for the restaurant to treat all of their patrons struggling with the same dim light equally. Fortunately for the rest of the patrons, the lights turned on just as we were leaving. I expect better customer service from the Four Seasons. Not worth the price or effort.
This place is always amazing! Reservations recommended as its right off of the slopes and it can get pretty busy during lunch and at about 5pm when everyone is coming in. Service is great...food is just as good. I look forward to visiting every time we're in Teton. Totally recommend the nachos, the pretzel bread, the chicken wings and the bison burger!!
We had a fantastic experience there, the food was awesome, and the service was exceptional! As busy as it was (New Years evening) our waiter paid us personnel attention, we felt like we were his only table. The ambiance was super! The view was just second to none, I can't wait to return.
An above average selection of whisky, with lesser known single malt scotches and even Japanese single malts. The menu had classic bar fare but with a welcomed twist. For example the chicken wings had Korean and Japanese sauce options as well as BBQ. All the food was delicious, in a casual atmosphere.
Fun evening with family and kids for a holiday season dinner. Good service and welcoming staff. Overpriced for what you get but to be understood given its Jackson and the Four Seasons at Christmas. Best part was the drink where you roll 3 dice and the combination yields the drink you get (alcohol, mixer, chaser). Hope you can avoid the hotdog water! We heard it's the place for apres ski but as of this writing we had not experienced that yet.
We chose the handlebar based on the menu posted on the open table website. However, the menu was not the menu and we were disappointed with the dinner menu upon arrival. Since it was 7 pm we really did not have a choice of a different restaurant. The manager did come over and offer to grab steaks from another restaurant and cook them for us ( which was awesome) but the entire meal took a long time. The manager was amazing and went above and beyond!!!
We really love Handle Bar and ended up eating there at least once each day on our vacation. It has a very nice atmosphere, central location where all lifts start, great outdoor and indoor atmosphere. You can.t hope for anything better on a skiing vacation. Michael Mina never disappoints - we love chicken wings, pretzel bread, burgers, apple crumble,... will keep coming back.
We went to dinner on a Thursday night and the restaurant was empty. It was packed for happy hour but dead by 7pm. The food was ok but expensive for mediocre food. The service was the worst part of the experience. She was snobby and pushed extra food and drinks on us all night. We ordered tbe pretzel appetizer for 3 of us to share when we sat down and she said we should order 2 because it is small. We said one was fine and when we got it, it was huge and plenty for a snack. This continued all night. Too bad for a four seasons to have such poor service.
When we arrived on time for our reservation our table was not ready, so we had beer at the bar. An extremely polite maitre d' accommodated us at another table in a neighboring private room within ten minutes, picked up the tab for our beers while waiting, and offered us two amazingly tasty appetizers on the house. The rest of the food was very good, our server was very efficient and friendly and, all in all, this was a much better dining experience than we expected from the "causal" restaurant of the Four Seasons.
Wow, Four Seasons and Michael Mina come together to provide a restaurant with the grand views of the Tetons? I thought this would be the perfect location for a up-scale summer batchy foodie-meal for my sister. Unfortunately, the service was juvenile, in the sense that when the ordered drinks were delivered to our table, the server looked to us to decide which drink belonged to which guest. We ordered multiple appetizers, and the best of four was the tempura mushrooms, the others lacked taste or had muddled flavors. Our main courses were under-seasoned (e.g., no salt) and the heirloom tomato salad had all unripe tomatoes. I'm happy to pay for fine dinning, in fact, I prefer to as a foodie, however, this meal was not comparable to other Michael Mina restaurants, nor was the service on par for the reputation garnered by the Four Seasons. The exceptional views were the only saving grace as well as the ambiance of sitting outdoors with a fire pit nearby. Otherwise, I would not recommend this restaurant or if you do plan on going, down play your expectations of the Four Seasons and Michael Mina pairing.
We were at your restaurant on 6/17/15. Place was not busy. The service was good. The manager came over and was very welcoming. He was from Germany. Three of us got the $44.00 steaks and all of us were disappointed with the quality of the meat. The waitress had compared the quality with Kobi beef but locally sourced. That had been the deciding factor on all three of our choices. The meals came out cooked to perfection and I was excited to take my first bite. Meat was tough and flavorless. On all three meals. What a disappointment. Prices were high even for the drinks. Must not be a new thing because earlier that day our guide had given us similar feedback. Wish we had listened.
The decor is decidedly not upscale or attractive and it looks like a Cracker Barrel. The dinner menu does not match the casual surroundings. I made the mistake of looking at the lunch menu on the website instead of the dinner and we were disappointed. Expensive food for what it is and not that tasty or interesting. We love the après ski bar scene here outside but not a good spot for dinner. Needs to be a more casual burgers and that type of fare for the surroundings. We ended up wishing we had gone to Spur. I had the heritage chicken which was pretty blah. My husband had a salad and the kids had turkey burgers. They said their school lunch turkey burgers were better tasting.
My husband had the crisy red snapper, I had the short ribs over polenta. We started with the shrimp/grits, which was delicious, they were true Southern style but with a bit of a spicy twist. They rivaled the best we've had in the heart of the south. My short ribs were so good that I truly cannot wait to go back! Beyond tender, flavorful, again delicious. The polenta was perfect with then. The staff was extremely amenable in changing the polenta a bit for me as I don't care for squash. I appreciated that aa it was a busy time. My husband loved his fish, and he is particular about fish, especially when we are not close to the ocean.... And, dessert, a home run! Highly reccomend the chocolate bread pudding, which is made with their pretzel, topped with slated caramel ice cream! Everything was truly delicious. A great "date night", but would be perfect for families, a group of friends, etc. Our server was very amiable and knowledgeable as was the manager.
We happened to be at the restaurant on a non-busy night. We were hovered over by the waitress, she was aggressive and interrupted conversations to give us recommendations that were unsolicited. There was no one else there, yet it took almost 20 minutes to get our drink order. The food was overpriced and no that good. Would not return.
