Great spot for lunch downtown with the boss. Reasonable price, something on menu will suit you. Go a little early as it gets crowded.

Late eve dinner after the Nutcracker Ballet - special evening. Large restaurant, many rooms, service was attentive and accommodating. Suggested a great French Pinot Noir. We had a delish fresh house salad (when do you ever say that about a house salad!?). A variety of entrees; all were very good. Would definitely go again on my next trip to DC!

We were a bit disappointed. First, we waited until nearly 7 PM when our reservations were for 6:30. Second and most important the food was unremarkable -- OK, but not great. We will not bother to eat there again.

Food was excellent. Ambience was exceptional. Service was poor, plagued by several unforced errors. Most egregious was that one diner's entree (straight off the menu, no special requests) had been completely forgotten and did not arrive with the others. It took not one but TWO tries for restaurant staff to rectify the mishap, which was most unfortunate as our party was time pressed (pre-theater).
Other oversights were no spoon for pasta and no bowl for empty clam shells. From an elegant restaurant like the Hamilton, I expect better attention to detail.

The food was really good, but the service is lacking. We waited a long time for drinks, appetizers, and meals. This could be that the kitchen was backed up, but even clearing dishes and glasses from our table took a long time.

The dining room was beautiful but some of our food did not taste very good. Of the 5 meals, 2 were bad, one was OK and 2 were outstanding. All 3 of our appetizers were delicious.

We had a time constraint and ordered wine and dinner at the same time. In spite of two promptings and a complaint, my friend’s wine arrived as I was taking the last bite of my dinner. I spoke with a hostess who said she “would try to find a manager.” No one ever came and there was no attempt to compensate. Horrible customer service. Also, two of our entrees, while flavorful, were the size of appetizers. This will be my first and last visit.

I've been to The Hamilton many times. Always great service and great food! My most recent visit was for brunch with 2 out of town friends. They were here for a conference and this was pre-departure. The Bloody Marys had every garnish available and apparently were tasty enough for them to have 2 - each! I had the pear sangria which was WAY good with little chunks of pear. I only had one as I had to drive. Food - quiche, Chesapeake eggs benedict, fried chicken, duck confit, and the DONUTS with apple butter!! Three women, hovering at around 100 pounds ate every last bit!! The waiter could not have been more helpful, funny, professional - just a great guy. I gave it 4 stars because the eggs were a tad over-poached so not enough yoke to soak up the biscuits.

The Hamilton has fantastic food!! The dining venue is split u0p into two massive rooms and is huge, so space isn't an issue. I will say though my friend and I felt pretty much on top of the table next to us but we didn't let it bother us too much. Good value for food and coffee is delicious.

Enormous restaurant with multiple dining large rooms and bars. Elaborately decorated - solid dark wall and ceiling panels, framed Audubon paintings, stuffed birds on branches, stately chandeliers. Very well spaced seating. Good for brunch, menu has traditional items. Reasonable prices if you don't order the most expensive dishes. Service is lackluster - they never brought bread or the lemon for water we asked for - also slow, so not ideal unless you don't mind waiting for a long time for your drinks and food.

I had an amazing experience here. My sever was very attentive and polite. The food was great and this is my favorite restaurant to go to. The manager Carlos stopped by our table to make sure we are having a good time and was very polite and professional. Overall I will go back and I will recommend it to my friends as well. It is one of the best restaurants in DC.

The Hamilton was extremely accommodating. Through "Open Table" I stated that it was my boyfriends birthday, and right when we walked in and I stated my reservation they wished him a happy birthday. They were very discreet when it came to bringing out the birthday cake. Overall incredibly nice and helpful. Food was great. We never waited long for food. After we finished each dish, we maybe waited a few minutes and then the next dish came out.
I would definitely recommend. Also, this was on a Friday night, so I'd assume they'd be just as good on less busy days.

The perfect place for a pre-theater dinner downtown. Lots of tables, plenty of space between them, well-trainer staff moves your order along without rushing you. And the food is terrific. I had short ribs and polenta on a very cold night — the perfect antidote.
Jazz is often live in one of several dining rooms, or piped in; either way, it too is terrific.

Unusual menu--something for everyone. Great find for half-off sushi until 6pm. Good wine list. HUGE restaurant, with different separate rooms big enough to be their own separate restaurant. Understandable, since this used to be a chain bookstore (Borders?) back in the day. They validate parking 2 blocks away, always a good thing downtown.

Staff seemed inexperienced. I went alone on a Sunday night. The room where I was taken was 3/4 empty, but I was seated at a table (for four). I asked if I could instead sit at a more comfortable banquette, and was told nothing was available. I asked to speak to the greeter again and pointed out that the place was mostly empty, and in any case they had sent me an a table for four, so it wouldn’t make a difference. They eventually sat me had a banquette. (The person who I originally asked didn’t know what a banquette was.) The poutine appetizer was tasty. Ordered Hanger Steak for main course: Small piece of beef sitting alone, ungarnished, in a plate. Odd presentation. Had a beer. It was flat. Overall, the food was OK, but with tax and tip I spent about $70 for one cocktail, one beer, one appetizer, and main course, and would have expected higher-quality, at that price.

Restaurant with great ambiance. However it feels like there's a disconnect between the menu and the scene. I went for my girlfriend's birthday, and it was nice, but the food was not anything too special. It gives off the vibe of a classy American restaurant, yet there's sushi and other random food. Good restaurant that is worth trying at least once.

We were seated shortly after our reservation time. They did not have the one item on the menu I wanted - the halibut, but the filet mignon was great. The Brussie side dish is fantastic. The server split my side salad for some reason - I hadn't asked her to, and it was confusing why my salad showed up on two plates and one presented to my husband who hadn't asked for and didn't want a salad. They did replace the broccolini my husband ordered - turned out it was too spicy for him - without question. We were just a little rushed - next time we need to make sure we make a 6:00 reservation for the 8:00 show, though there were none available by the Tuesday before. Now I know to make the reservation at least a week in advanced! In general, the food was great, and the service was excellent. Caveat - it is a rather noisy environment. Sitting at a table instead of a booth seemed to help.

experienced hiccups not normal for a Clyde's establishment.....was seated and waited more than 5 minutes before any one appeared to acknowledge. After inquiry an unapologetic server said there was a mix up on table assignments......?....later I was served my sushi without and soy sauce which took a while to ask and receive. First time I have ever had a problem at this or any Clyde's. i hope you can share this with Clyde's management.
