Great food, reasonable pricing and friendly service
Thank you Robert for your outstanding customer service during a challenging and busy evening!
Birthday that I made note of on reservations but no mention of it at dinner
My girlfriends and I enjoyed this restaurant overall. The food was good, nothing fantastic and not hot enough. That said, the service was good and the environment/location was fantastic!
Wonderful service and great food at a reasonable price.
Our food was not very good and was way overrated riced for the level of quality. We will not be returning.
This is another Clyde restaurant with the same menu. There was no way to know that without knowing all the Clyde restaurants.
Good friendly and prompt service. Food of good quality and manageable quantity (we are Brits and not used to such large US portions!). Beer we thought was excellent. Nice to see craft beer on tap.
I have been to the Hamilton many times and usually experience good service and good food. This time we were there on a Saturday, still early and the service was very slow. Took forever to receive appertizer plates and when they came the appetizer was luke warm. Then the main course arrived luke warm. I was disappointed in this experience. I hope this was a fluke.
Excellent food and atmosphere
The Hamilton never disappoints. The food and the drinks are delicious. I went with my boyfriend for our anniversary and it is perfect for a special occasion like that or a date night. The service is great and the staff is polite. As an appetizer, I highly recommend the cornbread grilled cheese, the deviled eggs or the octopus. The portions are not too big so you'll leave pleasantly satisfied. The restaurant is very large and the interior is gorgeous, so the dining experience is great all around. It is very popular, and a must especially for tourists who have not been to DC before and want to go to a classic and popular DC eatery.
Went 2x during our D.C. Vacation, my husband & I and 2 daughters (18 & 12), we LOVED it! The girls went crazy over the milkshakes! Food is over the top amazing.
The food at the Hamilton is excellent. I loved the service and I will return in the future.
Excellent food, good waitstaff although busy and it was slow service at times . Great ambiance .
Hamilton is a great spot to grab lunch or dinner near the White House. Given the crazy prices for food these days in DC, this is a value. It is a large, somewhat noisy place, but my friend and I were able to have a nice conversation. I had the Atlantic Salmon which was delicious, but I wish I would have asked for it medium rare rather than the chef's medium-well. The beer list seemed decent, but I can't vouch to it's depth and breadth because I honed in on the Bell's Two-Hearted Ale as soon as it was offered. Overall, it's similar to Old Ebbitt Grill , but a step-up food-wise.
Great service and food.
Wonderful find! Erica was a terrific server and very attentive. Discovered the restaurant when looking for pre-theatre dinner at the Warner. Great ambiance.
A friend and I were going to the theater and she suggested we eat nearby and she chose The Hamilton. We asked for a booth once we were seated as there were several empty. No one ever got back to us regarding our request so we stayed were we were originally seated as we were limited on time. We ordered wine, which took forever to get as we were told the carafes were being washed. Our waitress finally came back and took our glasses to the bar to have them filled. We ordered shrimp as an appetizer and were brought calamari and I ordered a second glass of wine and was brought the wrong drink. My crab cake was dry and sparse for the price. Giving you two stars is being really generous!
First time ti dine there and it was very good! Our waiter knew her stuff and made sure we had everything we needed!
The Hamilton is good food for a good price. We ate here twice during our week in DC. The first time it was excellent. This time both the food and service were not as good. But still worth a visit.
Enjoy the Hamilton. Convenient from work.
The waiter was bad but the food was good it took to long to come though. We waited two hours and a half! I like the restaurant.
Great place. Went here on a last minute decision and it was well worth it.
The food was amazing - they have a huge selection of foods plus a sushi bar. The booth we sat in had old torn leather and 'crumbs' from the previous patrons. We had to ask for it to be cleaned.
Our waitress started out enthusiastic and then something must've happened because she lost her smile- she never came back to the table after we ordered. We had to flag down the manager for another drink and again for some condiments and again for the check. Overall the food was good and the location was close to our hotel. But the service was sooo slow and unfriendly. The setting is deceiving from the outside and very outdated on the inside.
Service was INCREDIBLY slow.
Just perfect! Great food! Great service! Celebrity siting to boot!
Nice atmosphere. Vibrant. Still very crowded @ 10 pm Saturday night. Seemed to affect service which was slowish. Waiter took our order for appetizers, salad/soup and entrees all at once. Appetizers were served then both salad/soup came together with the entrees. Not good as entrees sat while salad/soup eaten and not enough space on table for everything.
Food was good, in particular the sushi. However this is the second time I've been there recently and both times the service has been lacking. Both times waiters didn't put orders in correctly, left off various drinks and appetizers and generally we're inattentive. Tried to chalk up the first time as a one time thing but twice in a row has me less than enthusiastic and I won't be returning because of the poor service.
I had the toughest steak ever and had to send it back. The service was horrible as well. Awful dining experience
On a busy Saturday night it took our food 45 minutes to come, unapologetically I should say. Drink refills were far and few between and the food is average at best. I wo t return for dinner in a busy night again. I won’t return for dinner actually. The bar scene looks vibrant and I e had Sunday brunch with was just above average for the price. Our server was nice but clearly in the weeds.
This is a great place to go - except for the host/hostess stand; the service is very good. Zack was excellent and while busy, still gave personal attention.
The old world ambiance was beautiful from the wood detail to the large windows streaming in the afternoon sun. It was both stately and welcoming.
It was very busy, but after just a few minutes we were quickly seated by a very pleasant hostess to a booth by the window.
First we had a special cherry blossom drink that was not too sweet and finished with a maraschino cherry at the bottom.
We had the chicken with biscuits and gravy and eggs over easy on top. The chicken was very moist and tender and the gravy had chunks of a wonderful sausage. The eggs were done to perfection and the biscuit was large and fluffy. The portion was enough for both my husband and I.
We also had the firecracker roll and it was very good as well.
We left fully satisfied and will definitely come back if we are in the DC area again.
Excellent at handling my children’s food allergies - thank you!
The Best Happy Hour (half off) Sushi around. :-) The service is great and always friendly. The Bar area gets crowded, but great for people watching.
I have been to Hamiltons several times and as always it was great. I recommend it to people who are in town for a go to spot. The service was not as good this time she just seemed preoccupied with other things going on at the time. My party had a hamburger (great) meatloaf (great) and beef stroganoff (she said one of the best she ever had). Drinks were good and a good value for lunch.
We had great food at a very good price (especially for DC). This was our first visit and we will go back.
Food was delicious and a good value/quantity. Service was good and enjoyed the setting. The only drawback was the noise- very difficult to hear our conversation.
