I was extremely shocked with the service overall.
Worst service I've received in years.
It was close to impossible to see the server so my party had to wait 10-20mins minimum whenever we needed anything which ended up catching other server to get our server for us.
Yet, service got worse and we even complained to the manager and he wasn't much different.
Foods were not that good either. One of their most famous dish, Bugatini Mussel Pasta was dry yet soggy so we could barely eat; had to cancel it and take that out of the check. Even paying for the food process took forever so other server printed out check for us. Extremely disappointed. Will never be coming back.
The food, service and atmosphere were excellent. Really recommend the bbq catfish.
Everything was awesome! Great food and great service.
Was traveling with family. We have eaten here one other time and loved it. So, we brought my mother and she enjoyed the lovely atmosphere. The veggie burger was served like warm and wasn’t great the staff fixed and mom got a lovely salad. We needed the meal with apple pie and it was heavenly. O
This is really a pub. An upscale pub but I was expecting a higher end restaurant. Service was mediocre at best. Sushi was good. Pork was dry and lacking in flavor. Meh. Won’t be back.
All activities would be outstanding at the Hamilton! Great wait staff and manager accommodate our group needs! Awesome guy!
Great brunch food, service, and feel.
The atmosphere was good, but a little louder than I thought it would be. The food was very average. I had the pasta with sausage. Not sure where the sausage was so I was disappointed in that. My wife had the pork chop. The pork chop looked good, but was not very flavorful at all. the gravy made it better, but not much better. I'd give the Hamilton another chance, but I would not order the same thing.
Waited 1 hour from sitting down until served. Food was below average and very over priced. Bar looked pretty cool but pass on the food and service.
Food didnot come more than 45 min. We ordered mac & cheese from kids menu, octopus, and tuna Bento box, it was 10:45pm late dinner after the hokey game, we could not wait, so left. If the food cannot be ready for 40 min, should not be on the menu, or should warn before ordering. So disappointed.
Food and service were fantastic
Enjoyed our dinner at The Hamilton during a recent D.C. trip. The restaurant was packed and the bar is very lively. We enjoyed the atmosphere, but if you are looking for a quiet dinner this may not be the place on busier nights.
This place is crazy busy, definitely make a reservation as we heard the hostess tell someone it would be an hour and a half wait on a Wednesday night. They took us to our table exactly at our reservation time, so nice that they honor them. The whole meal went well, from the great table, to good service, to the yummy food. Huge menu selection, great kids menu.
A good waiter helps with the experience, and especially one that can accurately describe the items on the menu (because many are apparently a little different than one world expect based on the description). Without a good waiter, it can be disappointing. The managers appear to be on top of things, though.
Excellent Food, Staff, and Value. A real step up from the folks who own Clyde's and Old Ebbitt. This is a place to go for business or for a family visiting DC. Not too fancy, not too casual, it is a very nice balance with a great menu. Beef Stroganoff was superb!!!
Deviled eggs with fried egg whites and lox were awesome... we should have just eaten several plates of them. Friend's sushi appeared good, my cheeseburger was OK, but green beans sauce was weird. Wife says blackened catfish was OK but nothing to write home about. Lady waiter was extremely personable and attentive (while a bit forgetful).
This is a great place for a group in downtown DC. It is a huge restaurant but they do an excellent job keeping the food quality high. Service is good but the restaurant is always packed so there may be some lags. Noise level is very high. This is not an intimate place in any way but again the food is well prepared and presented. Nice wine list too and prices are DC standard but not ‘break the bank’ high
Great service and food!
Great location in DC. It is a fun place to experience DC. Food and Service very strong.
Delicious food and exemplary staff...as always, we’ll be back next time we visit DC!
I have been coming to The Hamilton for several years. The food is always excellent. However, every time I am there, I feel like the servers could be much more friendly. I am not saying they don't do a good job. They just seem to be less then thrilled to be at work.
Brunch was good. Lots of options. Drinks were very good. Seafood chowder was great. Would go back again
We love Paige. She’s always smiling, always pleasant, and her service is amazing.
I have been to The Hamilton several times and this was the least enjoyable experience. I made a reservation through Open Table days in advance and we were promptly seated. It took about 20 minutes before we were approached by a server and received very little service. He was friendly and knowledgable about the menu, however, we appeared to be a table away from his section as we never saw him. My friend ordered crabcake and it arrived cold. I like to take out of towners here for the DC ambiance and will think twice before dining there.
Food pretty good, service awful - waitress was slow and not very helpful.
Food was great, nice selection, sat on time however I service was terrible. We waited over 30 minutes for our drinks, had to ask the waitress to take our order after 25 minutes, the mussels came out without a bowl for shells, disappointed.
Delicious food and a nice atmosphere. Service could’ve been a little better as our waitress seemed overburdened with multiple tables. It was a very busy night to her credit. The crisp Brussels sprouts was some of the most delicious food I’ve ever tasted!
The Hamilton is certainly a D.C. classic. We had a regular burger and southern fried chicken sandwich for a late lunch. Both were spectacular, especially considering the reasonable price. The sweet potato fries were delicious. And while the truffle fries are also excellent, they are heavy on the oil.
Phenomenal food! Really good brunch menu. Got a reservation day of which was a good call. 10/10 would eat there again
Good brunch, friendly staff good food
Sister visiting town so took her to a nice dinner in D.C. We've been here before a couple times and it is consistently great. Good food, good service, good ambiance.
Seated quickly but then a long wait for service. The server looked to be trying to cover too many tables. Possibly someone called out and missed their shift? Once served however the food was delicious and reasonable portions, maybe on the thin side perhaps. Seating was not too crowded as you find w some now days. Trying to over pack clearly detracts but this was perfect. Once ordered the food came fast and hot. Service was attentive w o being intrusive. Overall quite pleased.
I always feel weird going to packed restaurants as a single diner, but my server Audrey was very welcoming and inviting! She explained everything about the menu to me and recommended some desserts as well! Everything tasted great and I was more than pleased with the entire experience!
This was my third visit to the Hamilton. It's our annual pre race dinner place before the rock and roll half marathon. Although our waitress accommodated our unique orders due to the race, the service was very slow. Dinner took over ninety minutes and we did not have drinks, appetizers, soup, salad, or dessert.
Sam was a great server!! He made the dining experience very enjoyable. From recommending handcrafted cocktails to dinner choices and dessert as well. Cheers!
Walked the few short blocks to The Hamilton for a late lunch after visiting the American History Museum. As with previous experiences, it was pretty close to perfect. The cornbread grilled cheese with apple butter was savory, my husband enjoyed the burger with sweet potato fries, and the half price sushi happy hour was perfection. They also have a wonderful beer list with scads of local options. The service was pleasant and timely and it’s an easy walk back to the Metro Center stop.
Love the food selection. Service was good, server seemed new. Would go back!
Our food, yet again, was fantastic. I love this spot but you really need to plan ahead with your reservation. And its well worth it. One disappointment was the our waiter seemed to disappear after we had been served and we had a long gap between our meal, our dessert order and our check- 50 min. We had asked him about the closest Metro stop and mentioned that our guest was needed to be at the Metro-Gallery by 7pm to make an 830m flight at Reagan. We received our check just before 7pm. It should not take almost 2 hours for an early dinner for 3 on a Thursday night. I still recommend this restaurant highly as the food, ambience and location are outstanding. This was just a one-off I hope!
The service was slow and the crab cake didn’t have much favor. It felt dry.
I have special dietary needs and the staff was very accommodating. It was probably the best dining experience I had during my trip to DC.
