Food is very mediocre.
Get at least one crab cake. Amazing food and service for very reasonable price considering the level of quality.
Food was good. Server was non attentive and never asked how meal was. Seemed pretty occupied with larger groups.
Based on the reviews we’d read, we expected food that was better prepared. The Cesar salad was tasteless, the tempura shrimp was heavy and greasy. The menu was limited and the food was not prepared well. Our waitress, however, was delightful!
I've been here once before and very much enjoyed my pre-theatre entree and cocktail. On this visit I was underwhelmed with the food (3 sushi rolls during 1/2 price 3p-6p special) which was good, but nothing special, and my martini, while pretty good, only filled half the glass. I think it's ridiculous to pay $13.50 for basically a shot, and the waiter didn't think there was anything wrong with this. Additionally, we made a reservation and still waited 10mins to be seated.
Used to view The Hamilton as a backup if I couldn’t get a reservation at The Old Ebbitt. But it’s now become a destination restaurant all its own. Great food, drinks, service. Held a booth for me on a crowded evening; would go back just out of gratitude for that.
Food was amazing and the service was exceptional!
Highly recommended to anyone in DC!
I liked the room very much, the server was great, and the food was very good. They were a bit slow on the drink service. But all and all a very nice place.
The whole process from reservation to dessert was smooth and easy. Our server Max, was a pleasure. I will come to the Hamilton again, and will not hesitate to relate our experience to our friends.
Filet over cooked;2nd time brought out medium rare steak vs. med well. Service was slow and inattentive. Manager did nothing to make up for poor experience.
Had a group of 8 with 4 kids and they put us in a corner room with round table that was perfect.
Excellent food , big selection of diferents cain of fooo
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience! Would definitely recommend this place!
Great restaurant!!! Shrimp and grits were the best dish.
Excellent!! Go and enjoy!!
We went for brunch and it was delicious.
Beautiful decor, great location, and attentive staff. There were a few bright spots on the brunch menu (ricotta donuts and pecan sticky buns) and serviceable standard fare.
As always the Hamilton never disappoints!
We went here after our elopement and had a lovely dinner!
Amazing waiter and good food, but horribly overpriced cocktails.
Food was good but probably the worst service I have had in DC. I think the server would have rather been anywhere than where she was. Ruined our first experience dining here. We will not go back
Our waiter was fantastic! Fun yet respectful. The sushi was amazing as was my salmon. The portions are generous.
The only complaint, it was LOUD!!
The Hamilton never disappoints! I met up with a colleague for dinner and the food was amazing. We had no trouble making a reservation via Open Table and were ushered right to our seats upon arriving. The service was spot on and our server was attentive without being pushy. She allowed us to enjoy our meal and take the time needed to catch up over sushi and a market greens salad. I just wish I knew what went into the salad dressing... it was delicious! I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the downtown DC area.
The restaurant was nice, it was a bit noisy. The food was good, not extraordinary. The drinks were weak. I thought the hummus was very bland. The rest of my group also thought the food was good. It was my 2nd visit, nothing outstanding to make me want to return.
It was fine. Service was a little slow and inattentive, but it was a busy day for the restaurant. Two of the four orders were wrong. The size of the steak for the $27 steak and eggs was smaller than I would have preferred. The blackened catfish sandwhich was good. Pity the lunch menu was not available on a Saturday afternoon, would have preferred that (which I'd seen online) to the brunch menu.
Loved having brunch on Saturday at The Hamilton. We arrived about 15 minutes early for our reservation but were seated right away. The atmosphere was very nice, much fancier than I expected, nice table and chairs, rich wood paneling on the walls, etc. For some reason I was expecting a glorified diner but the Hamilton is much nicer. The drinks and food were amazing. I highly recommend the cheese board as a starter. This was our first time eating at the Hamilton but I know we'll be sure to return.
Staff hovered to take my plate and cleared all others while I was still eating - then took it with half food on it and didn’t wrap it up for left-overs. Same thing happened to the Brussels sprouts side barely touched. It was louder in the back room than it is in other rooms with the higher booths that I now realize block out a lot of noise. We had to ask if there was a soup of the day - etc. Waitress was fine but added no value to the experience or our understanding of the menu - description of the Bento Box barely described it at all. Same with the cauliflower steak - just not a good description. She also did not seem to understand what the cold Brussel sprouts salad was. If this was my first time A I would not come back. But we go all the time - for shows downstairs and for lunches and dinners (campaign for tobacco-free kids where my husband works uses it a lot - and I work at Treasury- and The Hamilton is a go-to favorite normally - which is why I picked it for dinner last Friday - but just not a great night overall.
Food was well prepared. Seasonings balanced and overall flavor profile excellent. Several different dishes at our table of five. Service was prompt and curtious. Food delivery was well paced. Would recommend for casual dinner. Pushing 5 stars. Near perfect.
Good food and we enjoyed a nice cheese platter appetizer. Vibrant atmosphere. Our server was good but we think was new so he wasn't quite on the ball as we'd experienced in the past. Good visit overall
We were in one of the private Partially enclosed booths. The restaurant is just beautiful with all the dark wood.
Our server was fantastic. Only thing is it’s really loud.
We had dinner on the early side so we could enjoy the 1/2 price sushi. At half price, it was okay. I would not pay full price for it, and I won't go back for the sushi. I just cannot recommend it (even at half price). The rice was not seasoned properly, but the rolls were okay (nothing special). However, the dishes from the non-sushi menu were terrific. I very much enjoyed the brussel sprout salad and the pasta dish. The bread pudding was tasty, and the coffee was wonderful (robust, hot and served in individual French presses). We would definitely go back to try the rest of their menu. Based on what we had this time, I am confident that their American fare would be yummy.
The Hamilton is a very classy lunch spot right in the downtown area. The menu is suitably varied, and the food was quite good. The prices fit the dining experience. I will be back again.
Busy lunch day but staff made you feel like you were only ones there they were so good. Salmon salads were the choice and like staff they were outstanding
The Hamilton was generally good. I am a vegetarian and I appreciated that there were multiple vegetarian options. I would recommend that instead of having the falafel wrap as the vegetarian option under burgers, they switch (or add) an actual veggie burger option. I did have the wrap and it was good, but I really wanted a burger and had to settle for the falafel wrap.
Excellent food, service and staff! Will go again and encourage others to visit! Thank you!
Hamilton is busy, sometimes loud, very upbeat place with very good food and an attentive staff. Wide variety of menu choices. Would return.
Celebrating a sixty birthday! But didn’t feel too old. The Hamilton did a great job!
Used to love The Hamilton, but it’s menu has become stale and boring. Nothing stands out any more (albeit the sushi is still very good). Service is fine and the space has a nice vibe, but the food is really sub par and not notable.
The food is quite good, portion size for dinner is just right. Unfortunately we had a party of 4 and were seated at a small round table that was maybe adequate for 2. It made the eating experience super crowed. Our server was very friendly and tried to keep the table clear from one serving to the next but then we felt rushed. They seem to cram a lot of people in and because of that it is quite noisy. Request a larger booth or table if you have a party of 4 and be prepared for a loud conversation.
As always it was a lovely experience at the Hamilton.
