The service, responsiveness of wait staff and food quality were all excellent. I was surprised that bread was not offered.
Visiting / vacation
The food and location are good but service is slow. I think it was slow due to him having responsibility for too many tables that night and the appetizer didn't come until our main dishes were served. I would go back but not my top option.
It’s was my son’s birthday celebration brunch. It was great accept for the waitress. She was very slow in responding and checking on our orders. Seem like she was in a daze. Other than that everything else was great.
So beautiful inside, great service, and meal was superb. The broiled scallops with mushrooms dish was out of this world, as were the mussels. A great night out!
Great place. Great staff. Food priced under value.
Great venue and food. A little on the noisy side though - hard to have a conversation without raising voices.
We were pleasantly surprised at our recent dinner here. Despite an extremely busy night, and noisy environment, our corner table for 4 enable us to hear each other. Service was excellent and the food was very good, especially the seafood. We will definitely return when our travels take us to downtown DC.
Hamilton has gone downhill recently - no longer will seat you at check in until your entire party has arrived. Eat here several times a week/month but this will no longer be my go-to for business lunches. Hire and train hosts/hostesses please!
Food OK. Wait for a table, even with reservation, was 30 minutes. So noisy we literally could not talk with each other, although seated side-by-side. We won't be back.
We love the Hamilton, we go every time we’re in DC.
The food exceeded our expectations! The filet was perfect. The Crab Deviled Eggs were amazing. We enjoyed each unique item and had a wonderful evening. There were only 3 of us, celebrating my daughter’s 37th birthday. We a had a delightful evening in spite of our waitress. She was not friendly or welcoming at all. She had difficulty smiling and seemed to dislike what she was doing.
By far, one of the best restaurants in Washington DC. Service staff is fantastic and the food is absolutely amazing! The menu is so diverse and there is literally something for everyone. I'm never disappointed when I dine at The Hamilton. You can't go wrong!
Lunch outing with a coworker. I think this may be our new favorite lunch spot! Will definitely be back!!
The establishment was beautiful and the food was tasty! Overall a very pleasant experience. Would definitely recommend
Great date spot with one of the most consistent kitchens in the city.
Our waiter was great, the food was great and we will definitely be back!
This was a favorite restaurant of mine but this last experience was horrific. The food was not good and when I indicated I did not know my fish was an actually sandwich I was told to order something else but was charged for both meals. My parking ticket was not validated and I had to hold the line and have the passages walk back to the restaurant to get the ticket validate, only to come back and it still was not validated and had to pay $21 dollars for parking. I’m outraged and will not be coming back. A waste of money for nasty food.
Nice place with good food.
Wonderful French food. The strip steak was nicely cooked with an accompanying sauce. It was cut separately with added butter. Eating outside on a wonderful weather night added to our experience.
We ordered charcuterie plates for an appetizer and they were so delicious! In fact, they were so delicious and so filling that we ordered two more!
Great service & delicious food.
Courteous, professional yet friendly server.
Great food. Window booth w privacy.
Great afternoon lunch after visiting The National Gallery of Art
I have eaten at The Hamilton four times in the past year. Two of those times the service was excellent, the other two times the service was terrible. Unfortunately, this last time was one of the "poor service" visits. I asked repeatedly for another Diet Coke that took 20 minutes to deliver. I asked for bread (when the meal was delivered) that never came. The room (middle room with large bar) was very noisy; it made it difficult to have a conversation.
The food was excellent, but the service and ambience left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm not sure whether or not I will return to The Hamilton. I have been burned twice. There are so many amazing restaurants in the DC area that a mediocre restaurant just won't cut it.
Our server was great - very attentive, friendly while being very efficient. The manager came over to say hello also and was really great. Everyone on the staff was smiling and willing to help. A huge step up from last year when I was there. Glad I gave it another try.
We have enjoyed the Hamilton each time we have been there. It is a fun place right in the center of DC. The food is really very good, especially considering the eclectic nature of the menu, from steak and fish, to sushi. The place has lots of atmosphere and the surroundings are quite rich with lots of wood. We will go back any time we are back in DC.
The food was fantastic. But our service was not adequate. Our waiter was not attentive. One example would be, after our food was dropped off by someone else, he didn’t come by until at least 20 minutes later when we were done with the food. So I was left without chopsticks or somewhere to pour my soy sauce. We also had to ask for a dessert menu and refills. Disappointing service to say the least.
Another amazing meal at The Hamilton. Creative menu and great service.
The food was great, excellent service. My New York steak was very good and medium rare has requested.
We are visited my from New York and this place was fantastic.
Great food and great service. Out-of-town guests loved it.
Trip with kids
Service was average at best. It would be great if she could have remembered what we ordered. Drinks were delicious tho!. As well as having several items that we didn’t order come to our table, the Hamilton was a good brunch spot for last minute reservations. $$$.
Good service, good food. Noisy, but expected that.
Good atmosphere but very average food and service for what we paid
This was our second visit to The Hamilton. The first with our son and wife were OK —nice table in back room, good service, acceptable food. This visit was awful. In spite of our reservation request for a good table, my husband and I were seated at a bare wood table in the very noisy front dining area. The ambiance was bad, service poor (main courses delivered before we’d finished our salad, rushed interactions), and food mediocre to horrible (my husband’s New York steak was OK and my sushi was fine, but my California roll wasn’t fresh and truly inedible —after eating just one soggy and tasteless slice I had repercussions the next morning). It’s Open Table ratings are way inflated!
Love this restaurant. I've been here several times, never ceases to impress. The food is always good, service is great, and they validate parking. I will always go here when I'm in DC.
The service was horrible. The waiter seemed like he was intoxicated. He proceeded to bring out dessert menus before we even got our entrees. He forgot to bring out our drink orders and We waited 20 minutes for the dessert that he once again forgot about. A manager brought out the check and no one seemed to care about service or lack there of.
