We went out to brunch yesterday but were not sure how wise it was with the Coronavirus worries. However, we were reassured by the restaurant's obvious concern for high standards of hygiene, the fact that we were place in a booth well away from other diners, and the very high level of concern shown by our waiter. The food is wonderful and we wanted to enjoy it one more time before leaving town.
Server never refilled drinks, never checked on the food order, and after dropping dessert menu he did not come back for 15 minutes. We were planning to order some, but due to his poor service all night we did not feel like spending anymore time in this restaurant.
Could have been a great experience with a different server. Disappointing and the first bad review I have ever left after on open table. As a past server I am typically understanding of slow service, but our experience here was bad on a new level!
50th bday for wife, waiter couldn’t of cared less.
The service and ambiance was fine, however something didn’t sit right with me from the sushi as I became ill soon after consumption.
Our server was amazing. Great communication and rapport. Highly recommend.
My wife and I have been to DC twice, but we’ve probably eaten at The Hamilton 6 times. It’s that good! The beer and wine selection is great, and the quality and variety of food is great. If that wasn’t enough, they have concerts several nights a week. If you haven’t tried The Hamilton, do yourself a favor and try it out.
We had a quick dinner, which was made possible because we were able grab a reservation on OT.
Hard to beat the value here. The food is as good as can be, but not overpriced like some places in the area. Excellent service as well.
Food was great. Our waitress recommended the scallops. They were incredible. Great service and value
My husband had the chicken bowl and he loved it. I had the sausage ragu which I didn't have high expectations for, but it ended up being delicious! We had the apple crumb pie for breakfast, which was okay, but nothing to get excited about. I would definitely come back here.
Sunday Brunch was outstanding!!
The service was terrible and the food/drinks were ok. I wouldn't come back.
The Hamilton team - from reception to bartender to wait staff - were all top notch. So were the crab cakes and scallops! A great way to celebrate a big birthday.
Great place to meet up with friends! Easily accommodate our group of 6 and there was something for everyone!
This was our first time having brunch at The Hamilton and our Shrimp & Grits and Norwegian "Bennie" were very well-prepared. Our waitperson was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We could have used a little more legroom in the booth as one of our party is quite tall but otherwise the seating was very comfortable. We will definitely return!
Good location in Downtown DC. Near Pennsylvania Avenue, National Theater, Sights/Monuments/White House/Historic Hotels. The Hamilton a Very good Restaurant, great Service and Food-Historic Restaurant! We are Repeat Customers!!!
Food was amazing!!! Service was fast and friendly! We loved it!
The bar was hopping at the Hamilton on Friday evening. Lots of energy and a high noise level. We did not get seated for our 6:30 PM reservation until about 6:50 PM. Started at the bar with some interesting cocktails. Food is plentiful and came out hot. Our server was friendly and pleasant. With an appetizer and entrée, we had no room for dessert!
Super tasty food. Dining room was nice and quiet, good for could conversation. Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable about all aspects of the menu.
The food is consistently good at the Hamilton. We were there at lunch on Friday. The place was packed and it was noisy. The staff did a good job of being responsive though they were clearly running around to keep up.
Great food and our waitress was amazing
My CEO is in town and she wanted some good seafood. I thought of Hamilton as I have been there before.
We were seated and then waited 5 minutes to get water and had to ask to send us our waiter. He came over and started by taking our drink order.
7-10 mins later he comes to the table with no drinks. Apologizing saying he will get them.
4 mins later he comes and says they are on the way and took our order.
5-7 more minutes and our appetizers arrive. I ask for a manager to see us. Oscar was great and apologetic and had our drinks over quickly. Top Man
However, that’s not the order you want. I wanted a cocktail, then apps, then dinner.
Just makes the night a downer.
CEO said the food was good, but don’t take customers here in the future. I agree.
The service and food were great. There was a rather extended delay in getting our main course
The food was good. We were a table of 7, so we had our own private room, which was very nice. The service was awful - it took us very long to place an order and get our food.
Hamilton has a terrific atmosphere and very impressive food especially given the its size. We took our daughters there ages 10 & 14 and they were both thrilled with all of the options. Mom & Dad enjoyed some sushi, steak, and great beer on draught. Fun evening.
Had reservations early Saturday evening; made a reservation but still needed to wait about 10 minutes before being seated. No problem as the restaurant was very busy. Food was amazing; everyone at our table got sushi, both rolls and sushi entrees, and it was very fresh and tasty. The one issue was service. Again, the restaurant was very busy, but there were long periods of time when our waiter was no where to be found. Everyone finished their drinks. Then the water. By the time he came back to see about dessert (which we had planned on), no one wanted to sit any longer.
In town for the weekend, my daughters birthday, and they put us in a fabulous private booth with doors!!! We had the crab deviled eggs and the yellowtail appetizers. The duck entree was very good as was the tenderloin salad. We had the bread pudding/as good as any in Mew Orleans. They made us very nice a French 75 but would prefer them in a modern champagne glass rather than a coupe. Service was superlative! You can not go wrong dining here.
Bar staff is very personable. Wait staff is efficient, but could take some personality lessons from the bar staff.
Great date night experience! Our waitress was excellent and the food was phenomenal! Try the ooey gooey cake - it will not disappoint!
Service was excellent. It’s obviously a very popular place so we had reservations but it was LOUD. A bit better in the restaurant vs the bar but still very loud. Food was really delicious but most of my separate dishes were too salty which took away a bit of the flavor. Overall would still definitely go back and would definitely recommend
I love The Old Ebbitt, but had never tried Tge Hamilton! WOW!!! It did NOT disappoint!!! I loved everything about it!!! Renice, our waitress was simply A-mazing!!! The food was SPECTACULAR!!! And Larry, the Bartender...well, there’s NO ONE finer!!! Thank you for a MOST MEMORABLE experience!!!👍🏼👍🏼
Fabulous waitress. Perfect filet. Courteous and attentive staff.
We had higher expectations on the fatty tuna. All else was excellent.
Our server was so rude and completely just left our table for 20min. We ended up leaving to go eat somewhere else. I’ve been here multiple times and was so disappointed!
This place is outrageously loud. You can’t even hear people at your own table. Waiters are curt. We had to ask multiple times for a wine chiller which should be delivered with every bottle of white wine. My husband ordered the duck medium rare it was as tough as a basketball. Clearly it was half cooked earlier and then re warmed. Over priced for what they deliver. To management: focus on the food and dust your decor that hangs over diner’s heads, it’s very unappetizing.
Good atmosphere and great bar. Had higher expectations after visiting the bar area
Main dishes were delicious but the side dishes were cold and could tell they had sat for a while before being served.
Mixed. We were seated in a quiet area that I would assume was typically reserved for special guests. Great way to start the evening. Our server seemed distracted, maybe it was an off day, but we were definitely not the top priority. The food, on the other hand, met expectations and then some. I generally enjoy the Hamilton while in DC and will give it a go again in a few months. Hopefully the service will improve. If not, there are just so many great options in the area to needlessly suffer indifferent service. We will see...
This place is so cool! We sat in a booth with doors you could close for privacy. Our waitress was fantastic, very charming. Food was delicious, drinks were perfect.
