The Hamilton was recommended to me by my Uber driver when I first arrived in DC. I figured a recommendation was better than trying to figure it out on my own so I made a reservation for my last night in town. Throughout my stay, I heard from several others that it would be a pleasant experience so I was very excited upon arriving. I was not prepared for the level of disappointment I would experience. To start our waiter seemed as though it was their first day on the job. He appeared flustered and kept tripping over his words/thoughts. The food left much to be desired. We had the creamy crab soup to start and it was not hot, but also a bit too sweet. The lump crab made up for the shortcomings though so we still had hope that the other selections would be more to our liking. Sadly we were wrong. The mussels were average at best and the drinks were ok, but missing something. We couldn’t put our fingers on it, but they definitely sat at the bar too long as one had been watered down due to the ice melting almost completely. The entrees were terrible, non other word to describe them. My NY strip was over cooked. A medium steak should not be so dry and the house steak sauce was ungood. My partner had the pork which was just not inspiring, however she did enjoy the fried brussel sprouts. My side of crab fried rice was just meh. I’ve had better at my local Thai restaurant. Needless to say, it’s a hard pass for me.

The table “sung” was absolutely freezing. The AC blew right on us for the entire meal. We asked if there was something that could be done about it and both our server and the manager said nothing can be done. For the $$, the food was just average.

The interior of the restaurant was beautiful. It had a very stately feel with the wood paneling. We were initially seated at a table in the middle of the restaurant, which was rather noisy, so we asked to be seated in a booth. Unfortunately, they moved us to a booth directly adjacent to one of the serving stations and in the path of travel to the restrooms. As you might image, this was a less-than-ideal location. Since I had already asked for our party to be relocated once, I didn’t want to ask again. There was a continually flow of guests walking past our table on their way to the restroom. Additionally, the wait staff were constantly stopping at the station to pick up place settings and dishes. The noise level got worse when one of the staff starting nosily restocking the station with dishes. The final miss at the restaurant was when we informed our server that it was our daughter’s birthday and he didn’t offer her a complimentary dessert. Our overall experience at The Hamilton was disappointing at best.

We reserved the “Snuggie” for my sisters birthday the staff was super accommodating as we were an hour late! Traffic was horrible. Our server Reefa was amazing and her recommendations were just right.

Lovely server but food was awful. Overcooked salmon. Served my daughter a burger with completely burnt bun. Husband’s food was also overcooked. Super disappointing for the price point.

Had some friends visiting from Chicago and wanted to treat them to a nice meal. I had been to The Hamilton for brunch a couple of years ago and had a wonderful experience. They absolutely LOVED their meals! Definitely recommend!
