We went to Hamilton’s on a Sunday evening. The place was pretty crowded but the noise level wasn’t too loud. Our waitress seemed to be quiet new, as she had to go back and ask other staff to clarify some of our questions, which is fine. She got our drink orders and app orders but then seemed to have forgotten or gotten busy because we did not see her again till after our appetizers came out, which is when we finally got our dinner ordered. It was a busy night so the wait wasn’t looked at too poorly. Over all the food was good! We ordered the cheese board (which was amazing) and they give you a great portion of bread, the calamari (also amazing), the tempura shrimp (delicious) as appetizers. My boyfriend ordered the meatloaf for his entree and omg, the mushroom sauce was outstanding! I ordered the Linguini pescatore which had a nice portion of seafood (clams, scallops, shrimp) however the sauce it sat in was somewhat lacking in flavor. I had to add salt. Overall a good dinning experience and would recommend :)
The Hamilton was very good, as usual. It’s a bit pricey but you don’t leave hungry. The downside was our waitress was clearly seated with too many tables, so the service was rather slow. That’s not good when you have a hungry 5 year old. They should have had more wait staff as I’m sure it wasn’t fun for her.
Such great service and very good food. Very kid friendly which was an unexpected surprise.
We are visiting Washington DC, and were very pleased with everything about this restaurant.
Our food had a great flavor. Unfortunately, it came out cold. Somewhat disappointing.
Amazing experience, service and food. We’ll be back!
The high-ceilinged, Wood-paneled dining room is a beautiful setting for a lovely dinner. Although the tables were filled, the noise level was lively but tolerable. The menu selections were varied and modern, including entree salads, steak, chicken, fish, and pasta. All 4 members of my party found our selections delicious. Incidentally, the bread and butter were scrumptious (the bread being the perfect combination of crisp crust and chewy interior). Two of us ordered a salmon and farro salad, another ordered sesame-crusted salmon with a ginger sauce, and the 4th ordered a roast chicken. Vanilla creme brûlée and lemon cheesecake completed the meal. The service was attentive and we were allowed to linger in our booth long after finishing our dinner.
As always, Hamilton was a great pre-dinner stop. We were with friends who had never been there and they are now raving about it also!
Food and service was wonderful - the waitress's recommendations were spot on. The veggie sides were large and awesome. The place is beautiful but noisy. The chairs are in need of some TLC. However, would definitely go again.
Classic city restaurant with beautiful appointments and rich atmosphere. Great menu options that are well executed. Service professional and subdued.
It was great!
My server was absolutely wonderful. I don’t remember her name, but she was kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. The food was also delicious - thx porkchops and chili broccoli were great!
Only time I’ve ever been to the Hamilton where it was really loud. I didn’t mind the noise of guests, but the music was really loud... which seemed unusual.
While I was parking you all cancelled my reservations. Luckily, I dropped my wife at the door to let someone know we were there. Her Birthday would have been ruined.
My guests and I thoroughly enjoyed dining at The Hamilton. The outstanding features were the service (we had an awesome waiter by the name of Max aka Maximilliam) and the ambiance. The only reason I didn't give a 5-star rating was that while the food was very good, it was not great. We enjoyed our entrees (scallops, salmon, brick chicken) and our shared dessert. The price point is perfect. The ambiance is exactly what we wanted. It is a beautiful, warm and lively feeling, but not so loud that you can't have a conversation. The service was perfect. Max did a great job explaining all the choices and made excellent recommendations. I absolutely would come back to the Hamilton and definitely recommend it as a truly enjoyable dining experience.
The clam chowder was delicious. Excellent service. Wonderful meal.
Service was very fast and the food was exceptional. The Gooey cake was the best dessert I’ve ever eaten.
Exceptional service, delicious food and lively atmosphere!!
Overall a good evening. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. However, there was a service glitch at the end of the meal that was handled poorly by the restaurant. We paid our bill and were about to leave, when the waitress explained that she had mixed up the bills, and we paid for someone else's bill by mistake. (We had underpaid by a few dollars). She said that she needed to re-run our credit cards and would cancel the prior payment. Fine. However, this took a long time, and we were delayed in leaving. Then the manager came to explain (after a long wait) that we could not even get written proof of the cancellation of the prior payment. He said to call him if there were a problem and provided his card. This was not satisfactory after waiting a long time for them to correct the mistake. We suggested that the right thing to do was to maybe offer a free drink for the next visit, or free desserts. He pretended not to hear us and just walked away. That is really bad hospitality for an upscale restaurant. So great food, but sketchy service and management.
Good food, very comfortable...reasonably priced. Big place.
Food was ok. It great. Server was slow all around. We waited 10 minutes for our check
We really enjoyed our brunch at The Hamilton! The food was great and our service was outstanding. We had a chance to catch up with friends, did not feel rushed and the ambiance was perfect.
Overall it was nice, great service, but high priced food that was just OK for the price.
Great restaurant with delicious food and service. We have never had a poor experience. Highly recommend.
We were visiting DC from down South and made reservations ahead of time. Unfortunately, we when we arrived we were told it would be thirty minutes anyway, so we sat down in an adjacent room; we were told we would be called when we cold be seated. After thirty minutes, I went to check on our reservation and found that they had given them to someone else. Food was ok (burger was rare, not medium), the water was magical (really!), and the atmosphere was beautiful.
We went because our daughter chose it for the name. She is obsessed with Hamilton and the broadway musical. Our service was just ok. Very inattentive server. Food was also just ok. Our waitress raved about the sushi, but we found it to be fairly average. Overall it was an average to below average experience, though the building itself and atmosphere was pleasant. Food prices were on par for equivalent restaurants in the area, but service and food were not.
Birthday. The entire waitstaff was excellent.
Fantastic meal!! We had everything from pasta, sushi, kids meals, cocktails, and desserts. Everything was excellent and the service was incredible. Will definitely be back next time we’re in D.C.!!
Meeting my stepsons girlfriend for the first time!
wonderful dining experience, great service, wonderfully laid table
By far the worst service I have ever had in DC
The service was great! That makes a huge difference in making ameal a good experience.
Been going here off and on for years. Over the years you can see them moving towards volume over atmosphere, which is maybe both a little sad and natural in the district. Still a good place, but moving more towards loud and somewhat over-priced seafood like everything else around it.
Tell you what, I’ll add a star if you’ll consider bringing back the meatballs on polenta appetizer, and ask yourself is there’s really such a thing as a non-premium thirty dollar shot of bourbon...
The food was amazing and the service was tremendous! I loved the pasta dish and the dessert, the ooey gooey cake was amazing! I highly recommend!
Not bad crab cakes. Drinks were there best part.
Nice spot to eat. Food and drinks were good, wait staff was outstanding. Went downstairs to see a band after dinnne. Great concert venue! Awesome time!
We ate here on the recommendation of a friend & we’re highly satisfied! We actually ended up eating here two nights of our vacation. Both nights we had different servers & ordered different entrees. All were outstanding! The atmosphere was very classy. Our servers were some of the best I’ve encountered. Hence why we ate there twice in a week. I highly recommend the fried blue catfish and the toasted marshmallow milk shake (with or without alcohol) was amazing!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
We had a reservation and were seating immediately. The calamari was a great appetizer! I loved the salmon entree, however, the NY steak was heavily charred on the outside to the point that the ends of it where inedible. The saint louis gooey cake was an amazing dessert, we just about inhaled it.
Everyone had something different but they were all great dishes!! Meat loaf was excellent! Sesame salmon delicious!
Very noisy Service slow. Food quality good.
