The Gun Barrel Steak & Game House
Enjoy town's largest selection of high end beef & game all slow cooked over an open mesquite wood grill. Plus chicken, fish, pork and more, served in a rustic lodge atmosphere.
Overall we enjoyed our visit. The restaurant had a great theme and ths staff was friendly. My wife ordered the tenderloin medallions and it was excellent. I ordered the bison steak and it was tasty, but a little on the tough side. All side items were great.
Server was attentive and helped with some special dietary needs. Food was priced for high-end quality but only average quality was delivered. Prime rib was very dry. Most other food was ok. Not sure if it was because of the off-season timing or what . . . .
Food was very good, and was prepared and brought out very quickly.
Fun place to bring the family for a decent meal. The service was excellent!
Loved this place
We went for our 10th Anniversary while visiting Jackson. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful! This was by far the best meal we had our entire vacation!
Great food. Local game served in addition to steaks. A delicious way to try local delicacies
I had the mixed grill .... Excellent!!!! Party of 4, everyone got something different, and everyone loved their choice! From my mixed grill to the Salmon to the bone in rib-eye and the Velvet Elk medallions everyone enjoyed their meal! Not one single complaint! Server was great too!!! Would absolutely refer this restaurant to anyone who asks!!
The GB is always good. You get good food and cool place to eat that fits the town and the western atmosphere.
One thing I don’t like is they add a 18% gratuity to 6 or more. This may work with the averages. This cost our server $. We would have tipped more but since the GB is smarter than the customer on this they didn’t this time.
The four women acting as hostess where more occupied talking to each other than recognizing me as a customer. The waiter was handling a lot however he was very aware and attentive. I followed his recommendations and was very satisfied with the quality of the food.
They don’t know how to cook a steak and the waitress we had had a bad attitude. We had to send the steak back twice and it was still wrong. It seems like a tourist trap and it was a MAJOR disappointment.
The BEST Elk and Bison options of any restaurant in Jackson Hole, and much better priced than the alternatives. This place is very popular; a reservation is highly advisable.
In town for couple of days..good food, service and location
We have vacationed in Jackson Hole the last four years, this place is always on our list of places to go! Always a great mean.
Don’t judge a book by its cover! The food was amazing! Go with game or don’t bother. My husband had the mixed grill and I had the elk chop. My only regret is not going both nights we were there. Our server was super friendly and knowledgable. Everything does look a little touristy and over the top but the food was great!
Fun times at the Gun Barrel...definitely make a reservation otherwise you will be waiting a while.
It was hard to decide what to eat! So many great things on the menu! Great casual dining. Will definitely go back and save room for dessert this time.
Service was very friendly and helpful! Prices were reasonable for Jackson. My brother & I split the mixed game grill. It was the perfect amount of food! The elk steak was good, the venison brat excellent BUT...the buffalo prime rib was to die for! Wow! Next time we’ll order just the buffalo prime rib and no sharing!
Went there 2x while visiting Jackson. Good food, good service, fun decor. Recommend.
Outstanding food and outstanding service, especially for a busy Friday night
The Gun Barrell is a must dinner requirement everytime we are in Jackson Wyoming. The atmosphere is vibrant, the food is exceptionall and the service is always friendly and accommodating. The Valvet Elk is to die for. I never choose anything else.
our Server was very friendly and attentive. Our meal was fantastic.
Good family restaurant. Service is subpar but the food is good.
Great find in Jackson, Wyoming!
It's worth a trip if you like the "Old West" concept in decor and menu. This is a very busy place and very noisy so don't expect a quiet, intimate dinner. We had a 6 PM reservation and the dining room was full when we arrived. It was a Tuesday evening so reservations are a good idea. The elk loin I had was a generous portion of two chops. The food is good but not extraordinary. I noticed the table next to us had an order of ribs that actually looked better. The service was good given the numbers of diners but I wouldn't characterize it as attentive. So, if you are in the mood for meat and whiskey, this is the right spot.
Elk chop all the way!
Excellent experience! The food, service and atmosphere were great. Highly recommend it.
We are in from out of town and wanted a good Jackson steak dinner with lots of meat options and this place was great for that!!! Great food and service. We made a reservation and we were seated promptly. We ordered the venison sausage appetizer, the buffalo sirloin, and the Cheyenne lean sirloin- all excellent. Try their steak sauce too it’s great.
For a number of years my wife and I have come to The Gun Barrel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. (Well, actually we come for the free bourbon soaked bread pudding dessert.)
This was #57 and we hope to keep coming in the future.
Was in Jackson for vacation. Came for dinner ...omg the worst food ever. Meat was cold and I guess they cook it way in advance. Terrible. Go to Blue Lion or Snake River Grill This place is too large to be able to have freshly made anything. Food came out in 5 minutes. No way you can cook that quit.
Made a reservation on Open Table. Upon arrival, we were seated. I asked the server what vegetable sides I could get with my meal and the sole option was green beans. I asked repeatedly if there were any other vegetable sides and she said no. For this reason, we left and dined at Local Restaurant & Bar. So glad we did. Maybe Gun Barrel will realize some people choose to NOT eat potatoes & starches and they will add more options to their menu.
Food was ok, hubby had the elk loin chop, thought it was very good. I had the elk medallions, tough and fatty. We ordered a glass of red wine, which tasted like it must be stored in the kitchen next to the stove! The restaurant is definitely geared to tourists, but really overpriced for the quality of the food. Not a place I would return to.
We had a great server and food was prompt and very good. Noise level was very high and restaurant was packed making dinner feel a bit frenetic.
Obviously popular with locals. Prices a bit high for visitors but okay when considering that it is a popular tourist destination. The food has been consistently high quality for us. The baked yam with maple butter is a great substitute for a baked potato. The staff are good people.
Husband wanted Elk Steak and we were told this was the place to get it. He was not disappointed. One of the best he’s ever had. I had the salmon with Dill. It as as equally amazing. Our waiter was the best. Highly recommend to add to your list.
The food was amazing! We both had bison and it was heavenly. Our waiter was great. Personable but not annoying. I would definitely go back. We loved the rustic feel of the restaurant as well.
Made a reservation and was seated 5 min after time. It’s a big place, and that means a lot of people! With that being said, the service didn’t lack and the food quality was excellent. It was a little loud & crowded, but didn’t affect our experience, feels like your at a ski lodge! Really cool decor that will keep you busy looking. Would come back again.
Great food - service a little erratic but overall experience was great.
Reasonable prices for Jackson Hole restaurants. Service was extremely good. Feel my meal was not that good but mostly due to my choice of meal. Husband's elk chop was very good. Good place to try local game.
