Loved the atmosphere and brunch was perfect! Great waitstaff, food and drinks. Reasonably priced and not overly crowded.
The menu is somewhat limited, but has an adequate variety of dishes that almost anyone can find something they like. Our party of 4 ordered different entrees (rib-eye, tenderloin, salmon, stuffed pepper), and all 4 entrees were excellent. The steaks came out exactly as ordered, medium and medium rare, and were delicious. The limited menu seems to enable the chefs to become excellent at preparing the items that are on the menu.
Again the food was spot on. Close to home and worth it
What a find!! Alexandro the barkeep/mixologist was wonderful as were his drinks!! Great wine selections. We had the 5 spice duck, pork saltimbocca . Delicious!!
Great Brunch. The bar has a great menu of drinks and the bloody Mary’s were a huge hit. The Smoked Salmon Crostini was great. Get the Chorizo Scramble it was the best and made with in house Chorizo.. Wow. I will be back.
Wonderful, as always. Our favorite place to eat in Gruene/New Braunfels. Wait staff is as good as the food - and the food is excellent!
Visit here often. Drive about 30 miles to meet in this central location - near enough to San Antonio folks and smaller Hill Country towns. Food always good. Particularly enjoyed the salmon and flash fried spinach. Lunch menu reasonably priced.
Excellent as it always is.
Greune Door never disappoints. I am there several times a year, as it is the perfect place for this Hays Countian to meet friends from San Antonio.
The hospitable staff made dining here on Easter Sunday a joy. 🐰I called the restaurant to let them know we were running 10 minutes late for our reservation, the sweet lady on the phone was courteous and the restaurant accomodated our delayed arrival. Our meals were delicious🍝 and coffee piping hot.☕ The waiter was attentive to the needs of our table and friendly. We had Easter Brunch there. The limited menu was well rounded with many choices. They even prepared one of the dishes without meat for our vegan daughter in law!
Enjoyed the full bar! Great atmosphere! It was also the only nice restaurant that I could get a reservation to!
Overall a delightful experience!
Three of us each had a different meal and all were delicious. Even though it's a bit of a drive for us, we'll return. Service by Bianca was SUPERB (attentive, efficient, but not over-bearing).
The Gruene Door was a spectacular experience. We were celebrating our son's birthday and we couldn't have picked a better place for a great meal! Food was exceptional, cocktails were creative and tasted great. Service was impeccable! Enjoyable evening in every way.
Everyone in our party loved our meals. Thus restaurant is in a nice area with ample parking. I love that they accept reservations.
We sat at bar, service was amazing as usual. Alajuandro is the best...
20+ dinners at the Gruene Door and as always...excellent!
The Gruene Door was a very enjoyable dining experience. This is a really great place, full of dinners having a really good time. We both ordered the Scottish salmon, and it was prepared absolutely perfectly. It was matched with a cheese polenta that was very tasty as well. And the apple cobbler was heavenly; the perfect ending to a great dinner. We’ll be back.
There are “attractive “ things that can be done to knock the noise down DRAMATICALLY. The acoustics are horrible. Having a good fun time while dining is one thing, but the dining rooms are like being in a freight car.
We ate there on Friday night when they were exceptionally busy, so service was a little slow, but not the fault of the server. We ordered the parmesan crusted trout and the pork saltimboca. Both dishes were delicious and very well prepared. We were so full that we had to go light on dessert. Ordered the coconut lime sorbet which was a perfect finish to a perfect meal.
Fabulous restaurant!!! Will keep coming back; it NEVER disappoints!!!
Meeting old friends for dinner. The GD had a very interesting menu, attentive service, and their flash fried spinach, which came with several dishes, was a hit. Easy to recommend to anyone.
I have been to Gruene Door many times now. The food has always been fantastic. This particular lunch I had the salmon filet over polenta which was incredible! The meatloaf is delicious comfort food. Everyone I was there with and have taken to Gruene Door really enjoyed it. I have never had anything I did not like (same with my husband)! I have also been there with my church group and staff was accommodating and friendly - as they always are! Food is served hot and fresh! Restaurant is only noisy when crowded. They also have great seating in front and in the courtyard when the weather is nice!
We were greeted immediately and directed to our tables, the server was quick to get drink and appetizer order. The restaurant started filling up the tables in our area, I think our server was given tables in the front area of the restaurant so he was slow coming back around to check on us after the restaurant got busy, however, the service staff for the tables in our area were attentive and quick to take care of clearing our table and refilling our glasses. overall the food was great and the staff, including Philip our waiter were friendly and attentive.
A table near us had four women who unfortunately were loud, boisterous and cackling. It was impossible to carry on a conversation at our table. We were seated promptly, but waited 20 minutes for a server to come to our table.Fortunately I have been there several times before and the service was better and the noise level was greatly lessened
I made it a point to tell the staff that wee were celebrating a birthday upon making my reservations. They totally forgot!😔
This is in what the townspeople call "New Gruene." The restaurant is beautiful inside, and it has a large outdoor patio with great music playing. We ordered a shrimp appetizer, which was served with ample slices of french bread to mop up the sauce. Then we had the rack of lamb, which was the full rack!, crusted, and cooked a perfect medium rare. The vegetables were fresh and delicious. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The wine list could use some work, perhaps a few more local selections.
Great food and ambiance! We sat outside and enjoyed it very much. Our first time eating here but we plan to be back when in town.
We went to the Gruene Door for our anniversary. The food is exquisite and the service is amazing. Great for a casual dining option or for special occasions. Great atmosphere
We went on a Sunday evening and only the Sunday a brunch menu was available. This was very disappointing because we didn’t know beforehand. We liked what we did order from our limited choices but would not go back again.
The food was good. There was a large party in the back so our service was a little slow. Thankfully we were not in a rush. We will go back again.
Excellent meal and service
Food and drinks were excellent. We are inside but the patio dining looks nice,
We are regular customers, have never been disappointed.
I do want to make note, that back in January I was very very ill in the hospital. I was not eating, everything tasted awful, so the doctor told my husband to "just bring her whatever she wants". The last time we were there they had a butternut squash soup special that I really liked, so my husband went over to ask for the soup as a takeout, it was not on the menu that night. He explained the situation to the manager and the chef made it for me special. It was the best meal I had while I was sick. It is not only good food, but good people
The Gruene Door was absolutely wonderful. The food was good, the wine was good, and our wait staff was perfect. We will be back for sure.
The Gruene Door always satisfies. The regular menu has plenty of options; seafood, beef, pasta, salads. They usually have daily specials which are always exceptional. Harvest squash soup is always offered and is the best soup in town...
By far one of the best meals we have ever had! Every single thing we ordered was absolutely fantastic and unforgettable! I had the salmon. My husband had the rack of lamb, and we shared the shrimp cakes as an appetizer. We ended the meal with creme brûlée. Again, I could not say enough about how phenomenal the food was for us.
The waiter was extremely attentive and provided awesome recommendations; based on reviews, I went with the Salmon.. a must have. We love the ambiance, the corner table was awesome for our intimate and romantic dinning experience
Always CONSISTENT , that’s what brings us back.
It was virtually impossible to carry on a comfortable conversation with the people at our 4 top table due to the ambient loud noise of collective conversations in the dining room. This has been an ongoing problem every time we have dinner at the Gruene Door and is a deterrent from having dinner there in the future.
Also, the food tasted too salty including the squash soup.
Always great food.
