The service was horrible. Our waitress was a jerk and had a terrible attitude. It took over 15 minutes to get our drinks. The only reason we finally did was because I had to go to the bar to talk to someone. Luckily the hostess came up to me at the bar and took care of everything. She was the only person there who knew how to take care of things. The manager brought our drinks to us and just said sorry and walked off. The people at the table behind us actually just got up and left because I don’t think anyone ever brought them anything. It was also super loud inside. I couldn’t even hear my wife who was sitting right next to me. The location is awesome, but we were not impressed with everything else. We were there for our anniversary, so that made it extra disappointing. Hopefully it was just a bad night for them.
Todo estuvo muy bien
La comida deliciosa en especial la hamburguesa
Gran servicio y la terraza con vista al parque sensacional
Great food and service. The Grove is a wonderful place to eat, dine and enjoy. We will be coming back!
Had a wonderful dinner. Service and food were great.
Todo nos gustó,
Recomendación de bebida: las sangrías de vino tinto y blanco, no se las pierdan.
Recomendación entrada: blue crab corn fritters (awesome!)
Ensalada: Garden Greens (tiene aguacate, muy buena)
Plato principal : STIR FRY GULF SHRIMP y N.Y. STRIP STEAK
No probamos los postres porque ya estabamos muy llenos.
Excelente servicio y comida.
We booked a reservation and requested a seat outside. Host seemed super stressed and tries to seat us inside. When we pointed at an open table outside, he said “this is reserved for someone else.” ??? Started off on the wrong foot but the service was excellent and the ginger margaritas were even better!!! Lobster fritters were to die for—-
Sat outside and enjoyed the people watching. Ordered the east coast oysters & bread and butter app (so good!). Ordered the ahi tuna aquachile which was really good. My husband ordered the strip steak & enjoyed it but wish there was a little more sides. Had the gelato for dessert and it was really good! Hubby also tried the liquor flight and really enjoyed it.
Seemed under-staffed. Perhaps graduation/prom parties were taking up too much of the staff’s attention and the regular customers were lower priority.
But food was also very average compared to previous visits. Salmon entree was good, but the side dishes were straight-up bland and disappointing.
Everyone enjoyed their meals. Nice location. Good service.
VERY limited choices on menu. Waitress stated it was due to COVID 19 but I have not experienced this issue at other places.
Waited over 10 minutes for waitress to come to our table. She made an apology and was very good after that - apparently she was unaware she was assigned our table.
Hostess was wonderful and polite.
Biggest disappointment was the lack of items on the menu.
I have always LOVED The Groove but with so many other options available it is unlikely I will return unless I hear the menu has returned to what it once was.
Really enjoyed our lunch at the Grove. We haven’t been out much due to the pandemic so looked in open table for somewhere we could eat outdoors. First time at this restaurant. The outdoor area was very peaceful and tables spaced well apart. We shared the crab corn appetizer, it was delicious. Hubby had the NY strip and said it was the best steak he had in a long time. I had the tuna and avocado appetizer for lunch and really enjoyed it.
Emily our server was there with suggestions and very courteous and helpful. Overall wonderful experience we will be back.
Such a great, little place downtown with a nice ambiance and delicious dishes.
Nice ambiance for a late night dinner/snack downtown. Food was good and overall it was a good experience.
Lovely atmosphere, good food, good drinks. It was not clear that the rooftop was only for events. Overall great place to dine.
Cute place but bad not the greatest service. We were not even able to order dinner over the course of an hour so we left. Bartender was glued to his well and there was 1 other couple at the bar. Restaurant tables were pretty full.
The food is so fresh, the service was top notch, and the views from the u-shaped booth made our night unforgettable. Also, the cocktail happy hour is rivaled by none.
First of all we had great service, and the atmosphere is good. Unfortunately the redfish I ordered just tasted very “fishy” and not fresh. I’ve had redfish many places and this just did not taste good. My girlfriend had to send her NY strip back. It was tough and the flavor was bland. They were out of oysters and out of salmon. The $20 shrimp cocktail came with maybe 6 very small shrimp. No disrespect, but I felt that night that I could’ve made the same food better at home and saved $200. This is maybe my first food review ever, and we are not ones to complain. It was good to support downtown Houston but this was not an enjoyable experience and we will not be back for food at least. Perhaps drinks due to the cool atmosphere.
The service provided for their Valentine's day menu was absolutely fantastic. The food was fantastic, the service was amazing, and they even had a string quartet to make it special. Overall, I am extremely happy with the dinner and made our night very special.
Evening cut short due to weather
The Grove provides just what is offered: great food, lovely ambiance, kindness in service. Their Valentine’s Day event also provided a careful escape from our isolation—the dessert bar and violin performances were incredible.
The Valentine’s Day special was fantastic. Great restaurant and bar. It is definitely a high-class establishment, but it offers a great value.
Everything we ordered was great! We first had the avocado appetizer. It was yummy. I had the filet. It was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The potatoes were the best. Not sure what the sauce was but I need the recipe.
The Grove is a downtown must. The mood and food are just right for a quiet evening.
Not great - won’t be back.
Service was extremely slow.
Outdoor seating is some of the best in Houston
The Grove is a nice, upscale place. I took my mom for a night out on a Wednesday, and we practically had the place to ourselves. Our waiter was attentive, helpful, & friendly. The food was delicious and unique.
It was a tad pricey, so if you're looking for something cheap, this is not the place. We had an appetizer, 2 meals, and one iced tea, and the bill was just around $100 with tip.
I would definitely recommend this for a nice dinner out!
My friends and I enjoyed our evening at the Grove. Great food great drinks great service.
Nice environment and decoration. I served with a very polite waiter, but I had fettuccine with grilled chicken which didn't taste good and even the chicken wasn't cooked fully! I was sick for the whole next day! I will never go to this restaurant anymore!
Sat next to a kids birthday party on a Saturday night. Ambiance is similar to a large open arcade.
Everything was great, but the drinks did not have much alcohol in them.
The food took time. My drink was very delayed. The food was not what we ordered. Still was charged without any comps for the inconvenience or wrong dish.
The food was amazing, and our waitress was so awesome! Definitely a cool vibe
The lights weren’t on which is why I made the reservation for this time of year which was a major bummer. Service and food were very good though.
Food is still very good. Amazing grove mojito. Good steak and salmon, spices always on point. We sat outside, tables were properly distanced, service and other COVID measures were spot on.
My friends and I had a good time, service was wonderful. Thank you Simone.
Everything was excellent, but for one exception. Bread plate was a bit stale. Redfish BLT quite tasty and unique. Shrimp ceviche was excellent as well.
Excellent all around! Looking forward to it again...
