The Grove Ratings and Reviews
My girlfriend and I decided to check this place out after reading through a few reviews online. Surprisingly, I had passed by The Grove many, many times before, but never noticed it. The restaurant is located off the beaten path off Atlantic Ave next to Max's Harvest.
Initially I wanted to make a reservation at 7:30 pm, but everything was booked, so I settled for 8:15 pm. When we walked in however, the restaurant was empty, so I was left wondering why I couldn't make an earlier reservation. We walked over to the bar and walked into a very lively scene. I had an Old Fashioned (on their cocktail list), which was fantastic!
After drinks we headed to our table. It was slow, but service was subpar. No one came to greet us for a few minutes and it took a while for us to get started. At one point, a couple walked in and stood at the entrance awkwardly staring at us as we ate. I looked back into the kitchen and saw the majority of the staff on their phones in the kitchen. Eventually, I motioned to the couple to walk back to the kitchen to get their attention. Not a good look...
The best part about The Grove is their food. Everything is reasonably priced and delicious! The beet salad with avocado puree was delectable and chicken dish was phenomenal. We had a nice Bordeaux from St. Julien for $80 which was a steal for the quality and finished our dinner with the Nutella donuts.
Overall, the food was INCREDIBLE. I was a little disappointed in the service and surprised they didn't offer a champagne by the glass. Will go back - just hope the service is a tad better next time!
The Groove usually is outstanding, but this time we were disappointed with the Lamb Ribs that we ordered as a main course and the pasta appetizer. We may have considered these OK at another restaurant where we didn't have as high an expectation, but not at The Grove given our prior history and their prices.
Exceptional and sophisticated dining at The Grove! I was staying in the Delray Beach area and had gone to some of the area restaurants with mixed and underwhelming results. The Grove fixed all of that for us with a wonderful meal. Octopus, lamb ribs, and swordfish (locally caught) were all nicely presented and excellent. Wine by the glass choices were nice, good espresso and a flourless chocolate cake to finish. If you are visiting and used to fine dining, this is the place to go....will be back.
We have been wanting to try The Grove for some time and were finally able to try the well reviewed restaurant this week. It is a small but intimate dining room with a great bar/lounge in the other room, perfect for 2 or a group of 4. The appetizers we ordered were outrageously good. I had the beet salad & my husband had the flour free gnocchish pasta with sausage ragu which was VERY good. There were not very many choices for entrees & there were no specials offered so I got the Bistro Filet & my husband got the Chicken. Both were good but not outstanding. We also had the Monkey Bread dessert which my husband basically inhaled so definitely a thumbs up for that one. Overall, the appetizers & dessert were the stars with entrees being pretty good. We would definitely go back and recommend The Grove to friends. Service was also very good.
My wife and I were not familiar with The Grove, but saw a very nice review on Check, Please! so decided to check it out. We really enjoyed it, and will definitely go back. The quality of the food, the balance of the seasonings, and the presentation were great. We shared the roasted beet salad with hazelnuts. My wife had the Mahi entrée, which she loved. I had the Braised Pork with Fusili, which was outstanding! We shared the Mango Sorbet with Blackberries for dessert, which was also excellent. We have already recommended The Grove to several friends.
Greeted like family when you walk in. Food is amazing.
Birthday celebration at one of our favs. The best food in Palm Beach County. Brioche , perfect egg with bacon and polenta and Octopus ( best I've ever had) followed by naked gnocchi and tortellini with goat cheese, followed by braised pork fusilli and lamb shank special. All amazing and no room for dessert. The monkey bread and Nutella donuts are insane. Another amazing meal.
The Grove was outstanding as usual. Paul is a gracious host and Michael overseas the magic in the kitchen. The foie gras appetizer was rich and delicious as was the lamb shank. The new addition of a full bar next door is a welcome update.
I hate to say it because it's already getting hard to get a reservation, but this is the best restaurant in Downtown Delray Beach.
we sat outside in the area secluded by hedges. Very nice. We were not too hungry so ordered only entrees. Swordfish and Lamb Shank. one of the best meals we have had this year. the preparation was creative but not "over-trying"... i.e. just the right amount and mix of flavors. We throughly enjoyed our meal.
My second visit to The Grove, and it again met my expectations. Service was a bit clunky at first, but once things got organized the pacing, attentiveness and, most importantly, food were all excellent. It's not cheap--this type of restaurant experience comes at a price--but worth it for a special occasion. The cheese plate at the end of the meal was great.
We had a lovely dinner at the Grove for our anniversary. The food and wine were amazing and the ambiance was perfect. Service was excellent, and they worked very hard to find us the right wine too as we were hoping to have good Californian white wine for the occasion. They have just added more space next door which looks amazing has a great bar.
Had a delicious dinner at the Grove. Started with Moscow Mules made fresh at the bar. Delicious fresh hot bread and then a wonderful steak. Monkey bread for dessert is my favourite. My only complaint would be that we were in the adjoining room of the restaurant and the table had an inch of dust covering the entire surface. Not the cleanest environment for dining.
This place does not disappoint! The food, as always, is delicious and the menu changes regularly. I've eaten here a few times and I can't tell you what dish has been my favourite because everything I've enjoyed is out of this world fantastic. Do leave room for the monkey bread as your dessert. Even if you have to squeeze it in, it's well worth it!
