The Grove at The Modern Honolulu
Wonderful selection for someone who is gluten sensitive! I wish servers would not use the term "guys" when greeting a couple in a nice restaurant.
My family and I extremely loved our Valentines dinner there; food was delicious, service was outstanding; and the ambiance was magical with the Friday fireworks made it amazing. A young man gave me a rose and a cookie for my son. I will come back again.
It was not busy and yet my cold salad took over 30 mins.
Great place but lack of servers made the service super slow!
Beautiful outdoor setting with ocean and yacht harbor views. Terrific servers and a good menu with both healthy and tasty choices. Highly recommended for a relaxing meal in a glorious setting at a distinctive boutique hotel.
Beachside noshes and good happy hour for beer!
This place was sexy and expensive. We had dinner on thanksgiving as an alternative to thanksgiving. Nice,
Quiet tables by the pool with wonderful service. Couldn’t tell how the view was since it was dark but the ambience was dreamy.
Disappointed with the automatic 20% service charge for a party of 2.
This restaurant is in the Modern Hotel in Honolulu. We chose it because it was near our hotel and we had just arrived stateside on Thanksgiving day. The tables are located outside near the pool area. We had a table nearest the water, which was great. We ordered the chopped salad which we split and it was very good. I had the short ribs and my husband had the Crab Carbonara. I enjoyed my short ribs, but my husband did not care for his Carbonara. He expected a creamy sauce which it did not have. We also ordered a bottle of wine.
Although the service was AVERAGE, (warranting a 15% service charge) we were automatically charged a 20% service fee. Upon reviewing the menu when we left, we saw that a service charge of 20% would be added to parties of 6 or more and bottle service. We've traveled quite a bit and have never seen an automatic charge of 20% for opening a bottle of wine. BEWARE. We will not be back.
Service was excellent- breakfast menu was like other breakfast places but very tasty. i would go back here. the view and service made it a great.
Visited for breakfast. It’s an Hawaiian oasis of peace and aloha.
We have a terrific dinner at The Grove. The ambiance is fantastic. Romantic, yet appropriate for children. Food was great, and prices were amazing. Highly recommend to all.
Tasty food, a bit overpriced for what you actually get. This restaurant is right next to the pool, several swimmers walked right through by the tables soaking wet from the pool to the outdoor showers, it was a bit disturbing.
Amazing view , great service, good food !
Location was great and we specifically asked for a table close enough for us to watch the fireworks and they delivered! They even accommodated our baby stroller. Service was professional and food was delish! I will definitely be back.
I made a phone reservation through Catherin .
She arranged everything perfectly as I requested.
It was a wonderful memorable dinner night for my friends from japan.
I highly appreciated to seat us on the best fireworks view table as I requested.
It was also great kids menu were brought super quickly, so kids remined happy throughout the night.
I definitely will come again if we have visitors from japan.
Outstanding! Had an awesome waitress (Olivia). Whole experience was exceptional thanks to her!
Food was decent. Service was non- existant after the pupus. Had to ask a bus boy to find our waitress, who did not have any personality at all... not even a smile. Wish we sat at the bar instead cause bartender was at least friendly. Anyways, doo not recommend this place.
Nice little secret gem. Has a beautiful atmosphere. Most of our food was very good. The short ribs were not good.
Couldn’t find the hostess are to check in. No one cared or wanted to help. Bar tender finally said we r really slow sit anywhere. Service was good food surprisingly was good as well. Would not recommend unfortunately.
The food was amazing! It was a little weird, at first, to be eating dinner at tables right next to the pool, but we forgot all about that as we watched the sunset over the wharf. Will definitely be going back.
The service was great and staff were friendly. We arrived at 9 am for the breakfast buffet, unaware that it started at 10:00 am. The staff apologized and provided us a round of mimosas for free as compensation.
We had been here a while ago and thought it was great but we really noticed a decline in the whole place. It is too dark to even see your food and there were creepy crawlies walking on us. The toilets were not clean.
The best thing about it was the view of the fireworks on Friday night.
Lovely outdoors spot.with a nice sunset view up above street level between the lagoon and marina. Ahi tuna appetizer was generous and even more delicious. We liked being away from the super busy Hawaiian village melee. They serve breakfast and lunch too.
Nice spot-very lovely views
Beautiful setting next to the marina and poolside at the Modern Hotel. Very tasty grain salad and refreshing drinks. Some of our food came out late and last time we were here it took 30 minutes to get our bill. Will still come back as the food is so tasty and setting is so pretty despite the service being spotty.
Just xo xo it’ seem firework friday
Dreadful. We were seated told the server would be right with us. 10 mins later no one has come by. Finally ordered an omelette that took 20 mins to get to the table and it was all wrong it went back 15 mins later got the omelette and so bland and boring. The server disappears the instant the plate hit the table no refill on water no salt and pepper no asking if any thing need to be changed.... Dreadful service and food.
Service was inadequate. The bus boy ended up taking our order, because the waitress was nowhere to be found. Appetizer came out with the main order, leaving me hangry and annoyed. Bill was mixed up with the table next to us. While you can't beat the ambiance, hangry is no place I would recommend.
Perfect menu for this poolside outdoor restaurant which serves up quality cuisine. The service can be slow paced, but very attentive. Recommend trying this. If you are staying at the hotel, you can also be served poolside at your lounge. Excellent drinks - recommend the flavored Lattes or the Coco-Mojito (pictured). The hummus platter is remarkable.
This was a great place for a birthday dinner. Amazing location. Beautiful view. And the staff took such great care of us. (If you make reservations, they prepare a great dining experience for you.)
Service. What service. My server turned into a ghost as soon as we ordered.
Other servers were so clueless. I booked on open table. No one knew about the reservation service. I spoke to the manager. I was assured I would get my points instead I got listed as a no show. What a sad place.
It was very special and a unique experience. Great service. Wonderful environment.
Service is lackadaisical. Food is tasty. Drinks are interesting. Everything is a little overpriced. Still a good choice in the area nonetheless.
The service was friendly but the food was, at best, mediocre. For these prices I expect something slightly better. This restaurant is on a terrace with, in theory, ocean views, but you can not see the ocean from most of the tables. If I am going to pay mid- to high-end prices I want great food, or great views or (ideally) both. This was neither.
I could overview Hilton's fireworks on Friday.
I'm so satisfied! Thank you so much:)
