The Grove at The Modern Honolulu
Please join us for Friday Night Fireworks at sunset!
Nice spot-very lovely views
Beautiful setting next to the marina and poolside at the Modern Hotel. Very tasty grain salad and refreshing drinks. Some of our food came out late and last time we were here it took 30 minutes to get our bill. Will still come back as the food is so tasty and setting is so pretty despite the service being spotty.
Just xo xo it’ seem firework friday
Dreadful. We were seated told the server would be right with us. 10 mins later no one has come by. Finally ordered an omelette that took 20 mins to get to the table and it was all wrong it went back 15 mins later got the omelette and so bland and boring. The server disappears the instant the plate hit the table no refill on water no salt and pepper no asking if any thing need to be changed.... Dreadful service and food.
Service was inadequate. The bus boy ended up taking our order, because the waitress was nowhere to be found. Appetizer came out with the main order, leaving me hangry and annoyed. Bill was mixed up with the table next to us. While you can't beat the ambiance, hangry is no place I would recommend.
Perfect menu for this poolside outdoor restaurant which serves up quality cuisine. The service can be slow paced, but very attentive. Recommend trying this. If you are staying at the hotel, you can also be served poolside at your lounge. Excellent drinks - recommend the flavored Lattes or the Coco-Mojito (pictured). The hummus platter is remarkable.
This was a great place for a birthday dinner. Amazing location. Beautiful view. And the staff took such great care of us. (If you make reservations, they prepare a great dining experience for you.)
Service. What service. My server turned into a ghost as soon as we ordered.
Other servers were so clueless. I booked on open table. No one knew about the reservation service. I spoke to the manager. I was assured I would get my points instead I got listed as a no show. What a sad place.
It was very special and a unique experience. Great service. Wonderful environment.
Service is lackadaisical. Food is tasty. Drinks are interesting. Everything is a little overpriced. Still a good choice in the area nonetheless.
The service was friendly but the food was, at best, mediocre. For these prices I expect something slightly better. This restaurant is on a terrace with, in theory, ocean views, but you can not see the ocean from most of the tables. If I am going to pay mid- to high-end prices I want great food, or great views or (ideally) both. This was neither.
I could overview Hilton's fireworks on Friday.
I'm so satisfied! Thank you so much:)
We enjoyed our walk around the corner from the Ilikai to The Modern. I brought a bottle of wine for dinner and $35 was a steep corkage. The view and the dinning outside was breathtaking. It had rained all day and the sunset was beautiful. Service was slow but dependable and the server was knowledgeable. A very intimate, quiet and enjoyable dinner was had. The meal was slow coming. The appetizer of humus was delicious but the Nan bread ran out before the humus. We asked for more and it took way too long. All of the sudden our meal is served before the Nan bread was delivered. Seems it was baking, very fresh! I had a ribeye, quite tasty and very tender. Another in our party felt it was tough and chewy. Salads were great and fish dish were enjoyed.
It was very nice but a liitle dark and the pool was open and being used during dinner.
Awesome Oasis in the middle of the city. Friendly service and good food.
Winston was outstanding and the food was the best in Waikiki.
We are from NZ and this really reminded us of home, the food was fresh, the quality was exquisite!
We had a gift card to use. We enjoyed the outdoor setting and the waitress was quite attentive to us since they were not that full of patrons.
The food was better than I had expected and my husband ate his meal.. he’s fussy so glad he ate as sometimes he won’t if food is lousy.
Beautiful view in a beautiful setting. AMAZING food - great service. Don’t miss the sunset from the tables under the trees. Such a treat. 10 out of 5 stars!!!
Not objectionable but unremarkable. The service was perfunctory. Not clear to me how a restaurant advertise pasta dishes and yet when someone asks for pepper they’re given a salt shaker and a pepper shaker that are both literally minuscule. Cracked pepper from a grinder was not an option. The crab carbonara was bland. And because it is a swimming pool side restaurant in the hotel, don’t expect to drink out of glassware. All drinks are served in plastic with her wine water alcohol etc.
We were looking for the restaurant inside the hotel, but it evidently does not exist anymore. The food was fine, but there was no reason to make reservations.
Best burger I've ever had. Delicious bacon marmalade topping, sizable patty served on a brioche bun.
Just about Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. When we arrived, there was no hostess to be seen. So we seated ourselves. Ten minutes later, we did not have menus. So we got them ourselves. Five more minutes, and no water. So we found our waiter. He said he hadn’t noticed we had arrived. We ordered quickly. Drinks and chips to start. Fifteen minutes later, nothing. We should have left then. Salads and all but one entree finally arrived together. We didn’t get that last entree until we had finished eating everything else after asking for it three times. And the food wasn’t very good either. The short ribs were bitter. The Caesar salad was fishy. When we complained, the manager was very apologetic and wrote off from our bill several items. He should have comped everything. The setting is fantastic. Too bad the service and food are so bad.
Excellent. Great for Friday night firework. We had five meals, all were delicious.
Great brunch! We went twice during our trip because the ambience is great on the patio with the pool, the service was good, staff all seem great. The Benny and the waffle were our favorite, and the coffee and the guava mimosa were delicious too!
We enjoyed the gorgeous setting, attentive but non-intrusive service, and a delicious birthday dinner. Great view to the sunset sky. I ordered the kabocha and browned butter pasta and ate every bite. My cocktail was yummy, too. Looking for an occasion to come back!
Wait staff very good. But, the kitchen was incredibly slow. We waited for almost an hour for the entrees to arrive after ordering them. I’ve eaten at the Grove twice and the kitchen was very slow both times.
Wonderful location and very tasty food, we celebrated our last night of our honeymoon here and it was the perfect way too.
Nice casual dining venue. Service was friendly and efficient and the food very good.
Loved this place. Will definitely be returning.
Had a great breakfast. Really quick and friendly service, with fantastic food. A bit overpriced for breakfast, but the ambiance made up for it!
I went on Valentines Day with my family, and we had a great experience. Everyone on the staff was amazing and so nice. The manager stopped by our table to talk with us and even gave us a print out of things to do on the island. The weather was rainy, which was unfortunate, because we were seated in a makeshift dining room rather than outside to enjoy the view, but we still very much enjoyed our meal there.
Good food and service. Nice table by the pool. Definitely recommend:)
Hi went with 2 noisy kids and had a great time; beautiful space; good quality food; great sunset
Food is nothing out of this world but okay. The Modern is a beautiful hotel with beautiful views. What made this experience great was the service our waitress Loke provided for us . She was very attentive !
I had reserved 2 months in advance for this early dinner. When we arrived the Hostess (Jamie Lynn) sat us at a table in a far corner, behind a hedge, staring at a bunch of stored items! I immediately asked if we could sit out under the Grove with the view (the sunset was just about done). She said no that all those tables were reserved. I noted that I had reserved one of them!! There were 10 - 15 empty tables at that time. She disappeared for a few minutes and came back and said sorry - we cannot move you. The waitress was watching this all play out and came over to take our drink order. She agree with me and moved me to one of her 8 empty tables.
Jamie Lynn came to check in on us and was unbelievably rude and condescending. We had a lovely meal with a delightful waitress. It is worth noting that when we left at 8:00 pm there were still 6 empty tables!!!
Based on the rude treatment by the Hostess I would not recommend this place. First impressions count and we were actually moments away from walking out!
Perfect for Thanksgiving Feast with Family and friends.
Beautiful sunset dinner.
Casual poolside !
A unique spot
The restaurant reconfirmed our reservation the day before but closed the restaurant for a private function without telling us. So we showed up expecting to have a nice dinner but we had to go elsewhere. It was infuriating.
Yummy food, great ambiance, but terrible service! I'd go back again and hope to have a different, more attentive server. Free valet with validation, which is a plus. Gorgeous sunset over the harbor.
