Great choice for a casual and delicious meal with friends!
The restaurant is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. The decor and service is exceptional. The food, however, was average. We had crab cake, oysters po boy, cream of crab soup, calamari and lettuce wraps.. The lettuce wraps and crab cake were the best items. The others items were average.
I always seem to get the same thing because I love their fried oysters as well as their beet salad. We ordered the balsamic grilled Brussels sprouts for the table. I like them a little under cooked but these could have been grilled another 2-3 minutes longer.
Overall the experience was average for Sunday brunch. Food was good but service was lacking. Though our waiter was nice enough he was not well informed about the menu or ingredients - he had to check on everything before providing an answer. Several groups seated after us, including larger groups, were served well before us. Cardinal sin: making the customer wait for cocktails!
We had a wonderful Easter Brunch. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. Our waiter Francis went above and beyond to accommodate my children and grandparents. It was a wonderful experience, as always!
Amazing dining experience. The cuisine was superb and the staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and very personable. We even got to chat with the owner. Felicia, the bartender was so fun and made the evening memorable. Tim, second bartender made the most excellent old fashioned cocktail. Try The Grilled Oyster for an outstanding dinner!
We come here often, this time for St Patrick's Day. Very busy- did slow the service - but all was great
I like the Grilled Oyster. The menu is to my liking with strong appetizers, soups and salads. Many fine main courses to select from and even sandwiches are available at dinner. My only element of dissatisfaction is the seating. There are some tables, along the wall for two that are like eating on a highway shoulder, and they almost always seat innocent duos, even with other open tables, there.
What a fantastic meal. Everything was delicious and made for a delightful dinner. Our waiter Kevin was terrific and the kitchen knocked it out of the park. Can't wait to go back.
Took my husband for his birthday. I had never heard of the restaurant so I didn't know what to expect. More casual setting than I expected. Service was great. The atmosphere was noisy. We had to talk really loud or really close to have a conversation. Food was delicious! We had the hush puppies, crab cakes, crab soup, and lobster pasta. All of it was delicious! I would definitely go again.
Fantastic server, food and atmosphere. We will definitely return
The Grilled Oyster Company never ever disappoints. The staff is as amazing as the food. Love Felicia!
Excellent restaurant and one of the many reasons we find ourselves at Cabin John mall. Really great wait staff as well.
Consistently good food. Had a pleasant server too
The food was very good, and the service was outstanding as was the kitchen's ability to accommodate gluten free modifications! It was very noisy!
Valentines special menu was excellent! Service was good but a bit slow so I rate it 4 stars otherwise I would give 5 stars.
Went there for Valentine's Day. They could do little better for that day. Food was just OK and atmosphere nor really romantic
This was a great place for a Valentine's Day dinner. The food is great here and imaginative, plus, the waitstaff is professional and friendly. Highly recommend.
Not sure if they got the first message but a great place to come 8 had a reservation was early was accommodated excellent service just a excellent restaurant.
Food was ok, but very small portions for the price. Tacos had minimal amounts of fish, scallops, etc. Two small tacos with nothing else on the plate for close to $20. Smallish glasses of wine for large glass prices. Our server was very nice, but kitchen was VERY slow ... We waited a VERY LONG time for each course. They served a starter which was called "flatbread" but was simply a few extremely over-spiced cracker crisps that nobody at the table could eat along with a few celery sticks. The overall worst part was the horrible kitchen service. Otherwise, pretty mediocre for the prices.
Excellent beer selection and wonderful fresh seafood. The oysters are great and I'm a fan of the crab soup, too. The wait staff was very accommodating with our needs related to having our 2-year-old in tow.
I looked on my Zagat app to choose a seafood spot to celebrate my birthday. I really enjoyed the ambiance, though I wish the menu was expanded a little more in terms of seafood fare. The drinks and appetizers were amazing!
Our waiter, Enrique, was very pleasant and warm. The kitchen got backed up so our apps took a while to come out but after that, all was well. Food was good, we had scallops and fish special. Would return with kids next time. The only challenge this place has is its strip mall location.
This restaurant is turning out to be a bit of a favorite. It's family friendly - so you can eat there with your kids - but upscale and nice ambiance makes it perfect for date night or a get together with friends. Great beer list, decent adventurous wine list, fresh oysters can't be beat. The Chesapeake bay / sailing theme is also fun and fits in all seasons. The service can be a tad slow but if you're not pressed for time and can chill out on Friday or Saturday evening, its a great place to unwind. Cosy and Romantic enough for a date.
The crabcakes were amazing, my spouse's salmon was cooked perfectly. The service was quick and responsive. We appreciated very much the substitute of cracker & veggies with dip instead of bread - very thoughtful for those of us who are off bread. The only nit was the vergetarian fried rice dish which we were sharing as a side was gloppy and to sweet. Otherwise, great.
In from out of town. Great place.
We always have a solidly good meal when we eat here. Sometimes we go and just sit at the bar, but I enjoy sitting at a table with friends. I can't remember the name of our server, but she was nothing short of wonderful! Looking forward to dining there again.
First time here-happened to be in the area. Great server, great oyster shooter, great cocktails and great entrees. Everything was great! A nice surprise in this shopping center. I'm sure we'll be back! :)
Food is delicious, but noise level was so high that it was difficult to hear dinner conversation. Helen is a superb server.
Both the specials and the regular menu are fantastic. We each had a tough time deciding which entree to order. Service (Francis) was great, and the owner checked in as well to make sure our meal was great. Cannot say enough about Grilled Oyster Company. We will continue coming here!
My meal was much too spicy. I wanted just a lite meal and could not find anything to my liking.
First time going as we went for Restaurant Week, Sunday brunch. The food was amazing! Can we talk about those grilled oysters though? So good! We cannot wait to go back to try happy hour.
Great neighborhood gem. Food was great and the team of Rick, Felicia and Mike were fun and responsive.
Delicious oysters we tried for the first time, onion soup and scallop tacos. Excellent waitress. In a shopping center so ambiance was as good as possible. No.problem parking, though.
Food was good but portions are small. Service was efficient . Good neighborhood seafood restaurant.
Francis was FANTASTIC
A nice place for a casual dinner. The menu has been changed so that it isn't clear that there are additional options. Not sure why they did it, quite confusing. Fortunately our server let us know.
Pretty awesome. Service is excellent. Oysters are great. Beer is great. Nice place to go with friends. Low key. Menu is small but adequate.
Great wait staff and management. The menu is creative and the food was excellent. The dishes we had were on the rich side - lots of butter and cream, but we don't mind that once in while. Great desserts, also quite rich. Mine was a generous portion for one, and my wife's was enough for two. We'll go back.
We traditionally have oysters and clam chowder on New Years Day. We wanted to try a new venue though. This is a surprisingly nice little place tucked into a strip mall in Potomac. Not much to look at from the outside, but well appointed to give that Chesapeake feel on the inside. Friendly and attentive (but not overbearing) service.
The oysters - perfect! The crab dip - very good (a little too much cream, but nice flavor with big chunks of crab). The clam chowder - thick, lots of clams (a couple still in the shell - unique touch) well flavored, and a light touch of warm spice to it (old bay maybe?). Crab cake - no filler (Maryland standard), perfect small fist size. Bloody Mary - nice blend of spice, but could have been a little spicier for my taste (my wife was happy with it though). We tried out the creamy crab soup - very bland (possibly too much sherry too) - the clam chowder was definitely the pick. They were very apologetic with the creamy crab and accommodated by taking it off the bill (nice touch, good business).
Overall very nice. Not crowded, comfortable booth seating (or tables if that is your preference). Very clean. I'd do it again.
