Early in the evening they were sold out on the special which was roast beef. Also sold out on sweet potatoes. Very disappointing.
The waitress , Kim, was terrific.
I have eaten here over the last 20 years, The food is always good, and the ribs outstanding.
The only drawback is that with a reservation, there tends to be a 20 minute wait on weekends.
But I will continue to eat here and it is always good food.
The Grill on Congress was a great choice when I wanted to meet my parents for dinner. The restaurant offered complimentary valet parking which was very convenient. The hostess had our table ready when we arrived (6:45 for a 7PM reservation on a Thursday night). We arrived in time for happy hour (1/2 priced drinks ). Our table was in a small room off to the side from the main dinning room, which was perfect for my hearing impaired father, since it was quieter. I knew not to order the Duck which has been slammed in so many reviews that I specifically mentioned to my Dad to not even think about ordering it.
My Mom ordered the meatloaf, my Dad ordered a salad with chicken and I ordered the 16oz Hawaiian Rib Eye (without the Hawaiian!) Dinner (except for Dad) came with either a side salad or soup. The soup was a seafood bisque and it was delicious. When the main course came out the meatloaf was enough to feed a family of four, and had great flavor and consistency. My rib eye was thick, slightly juicy and a perfect medium rare. The mashed potatoes and broccoli sides were also very good. OH! and of course I would be remiss if I did not mention the biscuits. The biscuits are amazing. Worth the drive just for those. Service was great. Our waitress was spot on and did a good job. When I had my left-over dinner packed, the waitress sent me home with extra biscuits. Yum! Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, the food was hot and delicious, and we will definitely be back since the menu has so many good options to explore. I was a little concerned after reading some of the negative reviews, but I think they mostly complained about the duck LOL!
You must give it a try. You will not be disappointed.
This was a birthday celebration for 2 friends who always share it together. When the reservation was made we stated the birthday occasion. When we began the meal we reminded the waitress of the occasion. At the end of the meal we were not offered anything!!!
i confronted the owner Maitre'de and she said first that it was the fault of the waitress...which could not be true for a seasoned waitress! Then she said that people take advantage of her. When I asked why she would ask about an occasion when we booked and then not honor us, she had no other answer. Then I asked why she did not even ask for proof and she had no answer.
I am totally soured on a place I have been to many times and would never recommend it again
Delicious food & great service by Lance. My guest ordered the Baked chicken & I had the mahi sandwich. Yum.
Disappointing. My wife usually orders the duck, so I thought I would try it this time.
Over cooked, and tough.
We were three couples and none of us have been to the Congress grill before. Three people or the duck two people ordered the crab cakesAnd one person would eat the meatloaf. The meatloaf was returned for a hamburger the ducks were awful and the crabcakes were good. None of us were impressed, BUT our waiter Mathew was amazing. Ask for him....
The Grill is always a favorite for us. The food is always good. The muffins are to die for. Service is great. It's our place to go to for a better dinner.
This was the first time we had been there. The atmospherics was nice. The service was very good. The cost of the food compared to the meals was a bit shy. Don't misunderstand, the food was good, but not great. My husband ordered the duck which was a little dry and very bony, so he hardly ate it. I had the Prime Rib which was good, but not great.
One of our favorite restaurants in Boca. Food and service is consistently good.
Fish was not served hot enough- - prime rib was good value- generous portion
Always a great meal. Busy place that can still deliver consistently good food and value.
What a disappointing meal. Hoping this was an off night. Service was terrible and we had problems. Waitress had to be asked 3 times to bring things. I specified to the waitress how I wanted my duck cooked. Told her to make sure it was not overcooked and dried out. And of course that's exactly how it came. I ordered something as a replacement as the other 3 diners food all got cold waiting for my food to arrive. The waitress said that, of course it would be taken off the bill. Bill came and nothing was done for me. Not even an offer of desert or coffee. After a discussion with the owner, which was not friendly, my entree was taken off the bill. Have been here before and had better meals, but service is often an issue. The tables are on top of each other and you feel crowded. Certainly won't go back, but not because of the food, but because the owner should have quickly remedied the situation instead of making it into a battle.
Terrific food a very nice friendly environment ...highly recommended
Although having to wait longer than anticipated, all’s well....! Food and service was very good! 👍🏻
Consistently Average plus. Menu hasn't changed in years. Warm biscuits are still excellent!
We were suprised that we had to pay for the 1 piece of cake for my husband's birthday.
I have been to the Grille on Congress several times and always enjoyed it.. I was a bit disappointed this time around. First there was no valet parking, as I expected, and parking was impossible. There were no spaces in the Grille's lot.
I had a salad and it was just ok - limp iceberg lettuce. The Grille can do better. I will try it again but I hope that they will do better.
We waited half an hour past our reservation time to be seated. Unfortunately, this restaurant overbooks reservations.
They a nerve , order drink on rocks and waiter tried charge $2. Extr waiters name Andy, not very good, . Honored reservation on time
Worst experience ever at this (one of our previously favorite restaurants).
Arrived 1/2 hour early. Totally puzzled hostess (not the regular). Restaurant mostly empty. Why was it an issue to seat us? Were they going to turn the table in 30 minutes? Again, the restaurant was empty when we arrived.
Our booth shared wall with a supply station. Staff roughly replenished plates with jarring clanking right at our heads. No regard. Poor training. Everyone in the area looked up each time he dropped a new stack of plates on the station. Sounded like they were really dropped and broken.
Server seemed accommodating until the restaurant started to fill and then she was M.I.A.
Worst pork chops ever. Dry as a bone. Served with "out of the can" pie filling! Sweet potato tasted like it was baked a week ago and STEAMED to warm. Green beans not al dente, but raw and flavorless.
Server still M.I.A. Flagged the passing hostess. I APOLOGIZED, and explained that I never send food back but that this was really awful. I almost choked on the pork chop. **Hostess handled the situation perfectly.
Never saw the server again until the end, and she NEVER said a word about my meal or made eye contact as though SHE was mad.
Different choice replacement meal also dried out with same pathetic sweet potato. I never said a word.
That being said, we're crossing Grill On Congress off our list. Had heard negative reviews from a number of friends that we sent there, but didn't believe them. Unfortunately, they were right. The wonderful biscuits are not enough to compensate for bad service and bad food.
What happened to this restaurant?????
Outstanding consistent food and service !!!!! We are regulars when we are in town!
as always our reservation was ready with the requested booth. thanks open table.
A delicious and enjoyable meal as always. We'll be back!
Food, as always, is excellent as well as the service. I have never been disappointed with the food or service at The Grille on Congress and it is a restaurant that I recommend highly to friends.
Food very good. Service great. Our server Kim was very accommodating. Made it easy to order since I have allergies. Be back soon
Fabulous as always! The food is delicious, the service is excellent. and Sue the owner is a gem.
Good food, neighborhood restaurant
We had an 8:15 P.M. reservation but weren't seated until 8:30 at, by far, the worst table in the restaurant. I ordered the salmon spinach salad while my wife ordered the quinoa and Kale salad. Both were underwhelming. My salad was a handful of spinach, some crumbled hard boiled egg, and overcooked salmon. Disappointing doesn't really describe it. Here's the kicker, 2 salads and a glass of wine for $52 before tip. We will not be returning.
Too noisy ,too close to tables
we have taken many people to Grille on Congress over the years and it becomes their favorite place as it has been ours for 7 years
Great place, mahi sandwich was fresh and perfectly cook.
Way behind in reservation seating times.... extremely noisy!
Service was not only slow but erratic. We received our entrees within a minute of our salads. We waited a very long time to receive them, obviously forgotten. One of our party didn't receive her entree until we asked about it. Someone had forgotten. Food was uninspired.
Never had a bad meal at Grille on Congress. I had the roasted duck this time and it was yummy. My husband had the meatloaf and loved it. Everyone at our table loved their meals. The service is always great.
Always dependable! Service was superb. The waitress was kind enough to split the main dish.
food was really good....I would go back anytime soon
Very good food and service, but noise level made for difficult conversation.
Always a good meal
We always enjoy dining at this restaurant. We have gone with several guests for different occasions. The service is excellent, as well as the food. I highly recommend The Grille on Congress.
