The Grille at Back Creek Ratings and Reviews
Food was OK, must not as good as usual. Crab cakes were pretty good, but not as good as in the summer. The French onion soup was not too good. It seemed to have some kind of Italian seasoning that was weird in French onion soup. Didn't eat the soup. The burgers were as good as always.
Service is usually relatively good. Food is hit or miss. It is good but not usually outstanding, with the exception of the Crab Cakes. The crab cakes are phenomenal. Often times the dishes are too salty or have way too much spice (this is coming from someone who loves salt)! The guacamole is always yucky brown if you order the Mexican dishes. Aside from the brown guacamole, the enchiladas are pretty good. Sometimes the brisket is really good, and other times they send it out burnt. If you have the diner's club card it is worth it, but if you don't, the prices are too high for the quality of the food. In the fall and winter, the restaurant is also way too cold. Whenever, I ask about it, they waiter or waitress usually tell me that everyone is complaining, but nobody ever does anything about it.
Date Night w/ Trish and Vernon & friends 10/25/17. A very busy night (always good to see) for the Grille, but wasn't quite up to their normal standards. We had soups (all delicious) served after about 20 minutes from order being placed, and then dinner was served in less than 5 minutes....that means "something" is going to get cold before it can be enjoyed! In this case, it was the soups.....nothing worse than eating a cold dinner, so the soups lost out. The Ahi Tuna Salad was nicely presented and very fresh and tasty. The Chicken Parmigiana entree's all showed the Chicken Breasts being overcooked, and were beaten down to a 1/4" thickness. Normally it is an excellent choice...not tonight. The other item that caught the eye was that one entrée had about 1/3 cup portion of spaghetti, another had a little of 2/3 cup portion and the other one had well over a cup..... Our server was relatively new, very pleasant, and very anxious to be sure we were all well cared for. Every establishment has a bad night, and this was the Grille's ! Having had several excellent experiences here in the past, I will return, but probably without friends next time..... Normally a great value , but tonight WE probably should have not paid
Very disappointing experience. We were there many years ago and is definitely a different place. The experience reminded me of an airport, transient dining. The tables were old and peeling, disgusting carpet and really loud. I think many like because of the "club" half price dining. Food was not really good, lots of sauce...food seemed of poor quality. Really disappointing....not sure how they get 4 and 5 star reviews.
I was disappointed that we had to wait an extra 30 min past our reservation to get seated. Poor planning of setting up the buffet for another event knocked out tables for the regular dining crowd. Waitstaff handled the stressful situation like pros and as always the good was great!
Took 20 min to receive our beers. (Waitress told us that one of the dogfish head beers was non alcoholic which should have been a sign to leave). We placed our order but after 50 minutes went to the manager to discover that our dinner order had never been placed. Manager offered to box it up for us? Restaurant was incredibly loud. Can't describe the food but service was worst we've ever had.
We both had the special of the day which was lasagna and it was good. Mine was lukewarm but my husband said his was hot. Restaurant was very busy and super loud, even annoying at times. Service was disorganized and very slow. They ran out of Stella draft ... again. Seems to be a recurring problem. The draft is either broken or they are out of it.
FOOD IS FANTASTIC, PRICING IS REASONABLE AND PORTIONS ARE HUGE! The Grille at Back Creek is fast becoming one of my favorite restaurants for casual dining. The menu selections provide a good deal of choices to suit everyone's preferences. From appetizers to entrees every item we've tasted thus far is 'over the top' delicious and presented in an appealing and artistic fashion. For this particular visit our food orders ranged from burgers to crab cake entrees. We ladies chose The Back Creek Burger which was so delicious not a crumb remained and the Brisket BBQ Burger that was unbelievably tender, tasty and cooked to perfection. This is NOT your typical BBQ burger soaking in sugary BBQ sauce. On the contrary, the sauce was creamy with a flavor that left you savoring every bite. And, as the name suggests you have melt in your mouth beef brisket on top of the burger. As yummy as it was there was no way I could eat the entire burger so I happily took half of it home. The men both ordered the Double Crab Cake entree, were pleased with the "zero filler" guarantee and would absolutely order this entree again. The selection of beer and wine was good and the pourings were quite generous. We haven't dined here on the weekends but I understand live music adds to the dining experience. One last tip, don't be discouraged if the indoor dining room and bar area are very noisy as you have an option of dining outdoors. Seating is available at umbrella covered tables or under their covered patio where you have a peaceful and scenic view to appreciate while enjoying your meal.
My husband and I went to have dinner with our 2 month old. The food and service were great. The band that was playing was awesome and we look forward to going back again when they play. It was quite loud with the band so if you are looking for a quiet restaurant you may want to go somewhere else.
Waited for 25 min after being seated to even get a glass of water and drink order. And had to ask hostess to send waitress to table. And noise level was extremely loud. But food after we got it was very good. Best crabs around and crab dip was awesome. But think they need to have more servers on a Friday and Saturday night
The Grille at Back Creek is one of our favorite restaurants for dinner. Only two criticisms for our last visit: the specialty beer that was advertised to be on-tap was not, and the meal that my wife ordered was missing two of the items advertised. When brought to the server's attention, she brought a side of the one and told us that the chef said we had the other, though we clearly did not. We probably should have asked for a visit with the chef and didn't, but I surely didn't expect that kind of arrogance from him without even a personal follow-up. Apparently, the customer is not always right at Back Creek.
Happily surprised with the Snow Crab dinner special...it was delicious and worth getting a little messy! Husband said his hamburger was delicious. Disappointed that the Stella draft was not operational, but I got over it. The house salad dressing (apple cider vinaigrette) is very good. I will definitely eat there again.
Group of 8, good service although crab dip came out quite a bit after other apps . Ahi tuna done just right, nice flavor. Everyone enjoyed their meals except my husband whose rib eye, although nice portion, was a little tough. Two people got chimachirri flank steak and loved it.
Hamburgers are not the recommended choice...on several occasions we ordered the burger the way we like them but every time they come out well done. If the only way they can cook them is well done then let the customer know before they order. Other food is good but that was my last hamburger.
Arrived and was seated immediately. I was told that the back room was closed, so only the tables in the bar were available. Found out there was a rehearsal dinner in the back room. This was also the Men's League night, so the men started arriving at the bar and it got quite loud. There were a million servers, but our server was quite busy. Our food arrived, and I had tried something new. I did not like it. The server, when she was able to get back to us, took it away immediately, and asked what I would like. I just ordered an appetizer, and it was good. Our server was top notch!! She was very attentive when she was able to get to us. The room was crowded and the men at the bar would not get out of the servers' way. We may think twice about going on Thursday nights!!!
