The food was outstanding along with the service! Our waitress knew the right times to come by and check on our table and she was kind enough to do a round of champagne on the house in celebration of my birthday!! Thank you for the great experience!

Service on the roof top was terrible, waited for menu, waited another 10 min for bottle menu, waited another 5 min had to flag a server to order, then waited another 5-10 min for the bottle served ourselves after he pour the first glass. Dinner service was much better, nothing good about the food $32 for lobster salad with 3 tiny bites of lobster, $38 for a small filet of trout? $52 for 6 or 8 oz of chewy sirloin. Salad and trout was ok overall can't see us coming back

We didn't like a sizable tip added to the bill for so-so service..bread was delivered lukewarm as was the coffee. For a first-class restaurant with prices to match, none of the "niceties" ex. folding your napkin when you get up from the meal--were observed.

We have been to The Grill Room several times before, as we also enjoy the hotel’s Rye Bar for a pre-dinner drink, but this restaurant seems to have gone steadily downhill since it first opened. Although the hostess was lovely and the wait staff nice enough, our waiter was not familiar with the menu or able to engage with us about the food and wine in any meaningful way. We thus received no introductory explanations about the menu (as you typically get at a nicer restaurant) or able to get decent answers to basic questions about the menu items. We felt like we were at Denny’s, versus The Grill Room of earlier visits. We enjoyed our appetizers, but the main dishes were disappointing. The chicken, once the star of the menu, was rather average. And the steak that I ordered, the most expensive item on the menu, was over cooked and very dry (I politely brought this to the waiters attention, but was left to deal with it). Maybe we got off to a bad start by the ants crawling over our outside table and then the rats that eventually chased us to an inside table, but our overall experience was quite disappointing. It’s a great venue, so hopefully this restaurant regains its footing.

The service was mediocre. Our server delivered our cocktails and wine way too slow along with having long wait time for food at each course. The restaurant was virtually empty yet the servers were none existent for most of our dining period. This restaurant is too expensive for this type of experience.

Very limited menu. Be prepared, it was pricey. That being said, the food we tried was very well-prepared. I had the lobster salad and at $32 it was small but was tasty with wonton wrapper, grapefruit and citrus vinaigrette. The peaches with mozerella buratta was also good. The Only steak option was a sirloin. It was a thick cut and cooked the way I liked it, but at $52, again, pricey for this cut. I would prefer a different cut to be honest. There were a few fish options bu I was not in the mood for trout etc. The chanterelle mushrooms were excellent. We got a side dish of crusty petite potatoes and they were good. The wine was an excellent choice by Silver Ghost at $15/glass. I would get that again. They serve it in balloon glasses that are over the top huge. The room is handsomely decorated and comfortable. The wait staff was always present and our service was very good.

The weather was cool so we asked to be seated outside, along the canal. However it wasn't long before the mosquitos and bugs made staying outside at the normally coveted table unbearable. We moved inside where the setting was more for business meals than anything else. The service and food was good but not worth the money. The only bubbly by the glass was sparkling wine from Oregon which was to heavy to be sparkly. The place is more for business meals if one happened to be in DC area for business and meeting clients.

We were visiting DC with 2 kids (10 and 13) and wanted to have one “fancy” night out with them. This spot has a great view and is in a perfect part of town. The service ended well but started a little slow. I recommend going later than 7 pm to have the right vibe. The servers did give us a free glass of wine so we could try something more pricey and apologized for slow early service. Food was amazing. Mushrooms are strong recommendation. Plan on a nice long relaxing and slow evening, and totally enjoyable.

Excellent, creative food in an elegant setting with very good service! We went with a Travelzoo voucher (cutting the menu price in half) and each tried one starter and one main coupled with an excellent Pinot Grigio and everything was delicious and well presented, Service was very attentive, maybe no surprise since only one further table was occupied in the fairly large space. We sat on the terrace and enjoyed the atmosphere. Only downside: Mosquitos, but they provided Off when we asked - great service. Extensive wine list with lots of elective bottles, lots of them sround $200 an up to $600 and $700, with Tuscan wines, such as Ornellaia, but also a few in the $40ies and several - good - open wines. We will be back, but only with a coupon, otherwise it’s ca $200 for 2 courses and a glass of wine plus coffee for 2. Very nice lounge on the rooftop too!

The food was awesome. We had a bunch of starters; the uni on toast, oysters and sweet breads. For dinner I had the lamb and it was cooked perfect. With morels on the side but those were a bit oily and soggy. The glasses of wine selection was great too. I tried three different glasses and all were delicious. While we weren’t in a rush and didn’t mind the wait dinner took almost three hours. But everyone was friendly and attentive for the most part. We sat outside along the canal which was lovely. I would definitely come back!

Beautiful setting, but my turbot was served cold, they were out of the filet mignon for my colleague, forgot our shared dessert until we reminded them, and served a different single malt scotch then we ordered. At this price point, these failings certainly do not impress. Not sure if we’d return. On the positive side, the asparagus soup was magnificent, and the Sancerre on the wine list was delicious and reasonably priced. Overall, it has promise but needs some greater attention to these types of details.

We were at the Grill Room for a Friday night dinner for the first time. The restaurant is nestled in the Rosewood Hotel, right by the canal in Georgetown. My pet peeve at restaurants is that they rush you from the moment they sit you and to my delight the wait staff was pleasant and understanding that we aren't rushing to eat. We started off with lobster/crab roll along with crispy potato with rosemary, we enjoyed both. For the main course, I ordered Rye crust Nova Scotia Halibut (braised if I recall?) on top of cooked escarole, soaked in lemon butter, it was a bit bland, though had a clean taste. The other entree was their Sirloin Steak, cooked med well, yet was a bit tough for me. The best part of the experience was the wait staff who very extremely pleasant and courteous.

Upscale Contemporary American food and pleasing, subdued decor. Dining alone, I chose the 4-course prix fixe with Tuscan-only wine pairings, evidently a special promotion in cooperation with a particular winery. The mushroom tortellini and salmon in a mild vegetable chowder were very good, though lamb medallions were only average. The third course was supposed to be squab, but I requested a substitution with hamachi, which I was happy with. The Grill Room’s clientele that night seemed to consist mostly of out-of-towners like myself, but I thought it was much better than some other Georgetown restaurants that seemed popular with locals.

Overall wonderful experience. Food was beautifully prepared (and presented) and was most delicious: apps, mains and desserts. Beautiful setting in Georgetown alongside the C&O canal. Valet parking though the Rosewood was easy to use - and much appreciated on a busy Saturday night in Georgetown. Service was friendly and attentive - although slightly off at times (for example, bottle of wine decanted before being offered a sample seemed off). Value-wise, prices were definitely on the high side.

We booked our table for Thanksgiving Dinner during a family trip to Washington, D.C. for the week. The location inside the Rosewood Hotel in Georgetown just off of M Street was lovely. The service was just right, and the food was top notch. We ordered from the special Thanksgiving Menu, although the regular menu was also available. The turkey was perfectly cooked, moist and tender with flavorful stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce. Pecan and apple pie with bourbon ice cream was the sweet end to the meal. Seasonal cocktails and an ample wine list kept us hydrated. ;)

A great meal with great service. Started with a couple excellent seasonal cocktails (the bourbon/pumpkin one and the vodka/apple one), followed by the grilled octopus and the Tuscan Kale soup. The octopus was fantastic - charred just the right amount, and exactly as grilled octopus should be (but rarely is). The soup was good, too, but a bit over salted. Entrees (salmon and the lobster tagliatelle) were both delicious and beautifully presented. Potion sizes perfect. Every single person on the server staff was fantastic. Attentive, thoughtful and yet not at all intrusive. I’m looking forward to going back (and sadly probably won’t try a new appetizer as I’m already thinking of the delicious grilled octopus...)!
