The Grill Room - Hauppauge Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was pretty dead--we were one of three tables seated. The food came out pretty quick, the braised short rib was delicious once you got past the salt.
The waiter was very nice and attentive (drinks served quickly and refilled just as quick, food brought out piping hot).
Went here on a Groupon... I probably won't make the ride back out to the Grill Room without another Groupon (it was a good 20-30 minutes from my home).
We were not greeted with even a smile upon entering, waited 10 minutes at least to see a waiter who never introduced himself and was not at all attentive. Food was pretty good except for a warm Caesar salad with minimal dressing on it. Service was slow and non-friendly. Room is noisy due to bar crowd.
The noise level was very high as there was a private party in the middle of the small dining room. The food was good, but the wine list was very limited with outrageous prices. We ordered 2 glasses of wine at $10 each. The serving of wine was very skimpy for a $10 glass of wine. This is yet another ordinary restaurant charging way too much for an average glass of wine and making a huge profit on it.
I ate on Valentines day. The food was very delicious. I had the Paella-seafood.I sprinkled lime juice over it, it was the best food I've had in a very
Long time. Scene is very romantic. And also a great spot for either groups of friends to hang out and get together for dinner.
I will be returning soon!
This restaurant is listed as fine dining . However, our experience was not fine. It felt like a Restaurant Impossible candidate. First, the parking lot and signage was dark, the decor was tacky and outdated, the bar and DJ were loud. Second, we ordered dessert items and they were definelty not fresh. I would say that they were store bought and put on a plate. The portions were small, plate was covered with whipped cream and ice cream, the coffee was terrible and everything was way overpriced. If you are looking to have drinks and eat mediocre food, then this place will work for you.
When we arrived for dinner at 7pm, we were surprised that there was an active bar scene but no one dining at any table. After we ordered, we had to wait a while for our appetizers to arrive which couldn't be because the kitchen was too busy. I asked the server for some fresh pepper for my soup and, by the time he returned, the soup had cooled off. Our entrees arrived piping hot, the way we like them, but they lacked seasoning. The portions were substantial, however. On balance, The Grill Room was a good neighborhood place to go but nothing special.
The hard wooden chairs in this upscale eatery surprised me! Unless the intent is to turn tables as quickly as possible, some redecorating is in order! Otherwise, the food is very good - both the meat dishes at our table came slightly over done, however both were still excellent! I had Paella, which was superb! The seafood was delectable and the rice fluffy and moist! The other dish at our table, the Seafood Risotto, looked good, but the diner felt the Gorgonzola was a step too far and would have been just as good if not better without it!The waiter asked if we wanted another "round" of drinks but didn't tell us that soda refills were not included. The desserts were tasty - Chocolate cake, Pecan Pie and Cheesecake were ordered and devoured!
The food and service was good and the place was beautiful. My only complaint is the bar area music was very loud and I had to keep asking my friend to repeat what was said during our conversation. I also noticed the female bartender to be a bit rude to the women customers but not the men.
It was restaurant week on Long Island this was on the list & a place we had never even heard of. Well, despite the fact that it is located in an industrial park &, in a mini strip mall, do not pass this place by. There is a bar well separated from the dining area. The acoustics are excellent, very quiet so you could actually hear the person across from you. The food, although a very limited menu because of restaurant week, was excellent. I had the lobster & crab spring roll which was out of this world my husband had the chicken quesadilla which he also very much enjoyed. My main was the skirt steak done to perfection; he had the hazelnut crusted tilapia. Both were superbly prepared. A definite keeper on my list of places to dine.
This restaurant is in an industrial park and is, I imagine, a good place to go to conduct a business meeting during the week. We went on a Saturday night and it seemed as though the wait staff, despite the place being practically empty, were totally disinterested in our being there. Fortunately, I was with old friends and we could make a good time out of just about any mediocre or even bad situation. The food was so-so. The ambience was poor. The place is really hard to find in the dark (poorly marked) and it was just a forgettable experience. We felt very rushed, I expected that we would be able to linger for cocktails and conversation after dinner. Instead, we were out by 10:30. Nah, we won't be back.
Group of six on Saturday night 7 pm. Table ready when we arrived, although we were at bar for 15 minutes. Food very good (short ribs excellent). Service very good. Last time we were here on a Saturday night the music was too loud, but this past Saturday the live music was perfect. Will return soon.
This was a good spot for lunch since the three of us were coming from different directions. We all ordered the lunch special for $14.95 with a side salad, cup of soup, half a sandwich (which in my case turned out to be a burger slider) and a beverage. The price was right. The food was ok; next time I will try something from the regular menu. The waitress was very attentive without bothering us. We were planning a trip and we never felt rushed. Worth a second visit.
We have frequented this restaurant quite a few times this year but Saturday night was a tremendous disappointment. We booked a 7:00pm reservation. A short while after our seating, a large party of approximately 40 people with arranged table set ups came in with babies and small children as well. The singer/soloist was playing music and singing very loudly, non-stop causing people to raise their voice volumes through our entire dining experience. The noise level was distressing, If I wanted this noise level, I would have dined at a fast food establishment. we didn't even stay for coffee and dessert due to the noise. The kitchen couldn't handle this volume of people as was reflected in our meal preparations. We feel reluctance to dine here .
I was looking for a nice restaurant in the area to take my clients to and that was close since we had a closing to attend. Did a Google search and voila, found The Grill Room. The Hostess was very nice. Our server was nice and accommodating and I was surprised we didn't wait long to get our food after we ordered it since it's made fresh. I highly recommend the meatloaf. I will certainly come back.
My husband and I came in on a Monday for a last-minute reservation. It was our first visit to the Grill Room. Besides us, there was a very large party at a table nearby but no other diners. Our dinners were delicious! But the kitchen was extremely slow. It took us 45 minutes to get our main course. This was surprising to us considering the place was pretty empty. We will give it another try in the future but not if we are really hungry or are limited on time.
We have been to the Grill Room before, and had to move closer together to hear each other. Last night was quite different. The food was still fabulous, as was the service. The only thing missing were the people. It was the evening of many graduations and it's summer (even if the thermometer doesn't want to cooperate), and this is what we attributed the lack of other diners to. We were extremely pleased with both our salads and entrees. Despite the fact that there was only one other table, we didn't feel rushed or hurried to leave. The city feel to the decor just doesn't have the same draw in June that it has in October.
Service was great and the food was good but it's not 'fine dining'. Doesn't resemble the website photos and there were no curtains between bar area and dining room as mentioned. Happy Hour was very popular, bar very busy so it was loud in the dining room even though there were only two tables occupied.
