The Grill Room at the Windsor Court Hotel Ratings and Reviews
We absolutely love going to the Grill Room. Miss Helen always greets us with a cheery smile and knows who I am before I give my name. She remembers that I like to sit in Mr Edgar's section and accommodates me if she can. Mr Edgar always gives 5 star service and remembers my drink order. The food is delicious, especially those biscuits that come in the bread basket! This is a favorite that we will continue to come back to.
One would think at $100 per person Prix Fix, you get Iced Tea &/or Coffee (If you asked for it),
but NO! $5 extra for each.
Then they add 22% "Gratuity" to the bill (After the tax). Why do you pay gratuity on tax? Why are you FORCED to pay 22% anyway?
$465 for 3 people for food that would be $150 if ordered from the regular menu????
Food was OK. One would expect the food to be OK for the price, anyway, so they are not doing anybody any favor by providing good food. The desert was ordinary, nothing exotic.
WAY TOO OVER-PRICED.
Adding insult to injury: charging separately for Iced tea and coffee.
Absolutely unacceptable: Adding 22% tip for a party of 3.
Why not just change the per person price to $125 and include the damned non-alcoholic drinks and the tip???? Because then it would be SO OBVIOUS how outrageous they are.
That is what they are charging you anyway.
22% tip on the TAX? Who are we kidding?
Grill room at the Windsor Court is fabulous experience. I prefer the older menu though verses the selection now. I still highly recommend. The food is very good and th service and ambience is the best, first class. Angela and Bill would just incredible wonderful. Wine selection was awesome. Angela made the evening though with her incredible wisdom and service. Just a beautiful hotel and awesome restaurant experience. The art, beauty, history, and comfort are truly special. Thanks very much!
This gem of a hotel restaurant is elegant but welcoming. Lovely staff and great New Orleans choices, especially the Plate lunch for about $20 with shrimp or crab or fish and three other choices, including a luscious gumbo or smooth soup, salads, asparagus, cauliflower (not like your mother used to make you eat, but with a little kick of chili), roasted veg, and many more. Great views from the glassed-in terrace. $2.00 martinis. All-in- all a super experience.
My friend and I came to the Grill Room to celebrate her birthday, but we wanted a gracious, quiet atmosphere where we could talk. Those things we got with the lovely setting.
The service was attentive, but the food was very average.
The $2 martini had an awful taste, but by that time I had had a Bloody Mary, and it didn't matter much.
I would recommend this location for the setting and service.
We went here for brunch to celebrate my wife and daughter's birthdays and it was great. We love the jazz band that was playing and everyone working here is so friendly and accommodating. The band played a happy birthday tune when the dessert was brought out, which my wife really enjoyed. It is an excellent place to go for a special occasion because they really go out of their way to make your experience special.
The food was excellent, highly recommend the french toast. My son said the steak and eggs was great also. The coffee is made fresh at the table with a french press and it tasted great (I ended up drinking way too much coffee because it was so good haha). We tried all the desserts and the bread pudding is the best, hands down. We can't wait to go back here again!!
Celebrating our sons admission to practice law in Louisiana, we enjoyed the "$19.84" lunch special. An amuse-bouche of crawfish was a delectable introduction to our "Windsor Court Plate Lunch." Seated in window table overlooking the courtyard, we enjoyed our "4 small plate lunch" which was anything but petite! Praline chicken and crab-cakes were our choices for main selection accompanied by our choices of 3 soup, gumbo, starches and/or vegetables. An assortment of coconut, berry and citrus sorbet with a personalized congratulations plate of pralines, chocolate covered strawberries and chocolates concluded our special lunch. The Grill Room has the most welcoming, attentive and accommodating staff in a setting that will make you feel like Royalty!
I had one of the best meals of my life there 20 years ago. Nothing has changed and that isn’t a good thing. The food was good, but the waiter was definitely not in the top of his class. That aside, the biggest issue is that it is just old and dated. Expect mostly empty tables and geriatrics at the very few tables that are occupied. For the price, there are literally dozens of better choices in New Orleans.
Superb lunch in the Grill Room upon our early arrival into NOLA and staying at the Windsor Court. Few people but the room is beautiful and service impeccable. $19.84 lunch might be the best deal in NOLA competing with Commander's lunch. Served differently from CP as all 4 choices (main plus 3 sides) show up on a quartered plate. Must do for a wonderful variety of meal choices, leisurely but attentive service and a great room.
Overall pretty good however where they sat us for lunch against the wall, that was splattered with all kind of food residue. I asked the hostess about it she said she would get somebody to clean it, then I told the actual waitress and she didn't do anything either. kind of disgusting. Also looked like the marble floor hadn't been cleaned. It's a shame cause it's a neat place with a good lunch deal.
My sister & I pretty much parked ourselves at The Grill Room for breakfast, lunch & dinner. You can't beat the value of the $19.84 lunch plate with $2 martinis & the $39 3-course tasting dinner. Gourmet food & impeccable service prevented us from exploring more of New Orleans during our week-long stay there.
The Grill Room (and the hotel) used to be a destination for us after a long drive in from Florida. Everything about the experience was a treasure. It seems that the current menu, pick one from column A, and one from column B, etc. is designed for the efficient operation of the kitchen. We were told that the movement from the "celebrity chef" strategy to the "anyone could do it" strategy was designed to avoid the disappointment over chef leaving and menu changing.
We will not be returning but will still remember the good days when GW came to town.
We had the pleasure of dining here during our most recent trip to New Orleans. We had been here in the past for a Birthday dinner when we were staying at the hotel and it was fabulous.
This time we went for lunch with friends. We were taking them around New Orleans, trying to show them the lovely parts of the city.
The restaurant is located in the Windsor Court Hotel, by my opinion, the loveliest hotel in the city.
Much to our surprise there was a $19.84 fall lunch special which came with an entree and 3 sides.
The food was fabulous! I had the Windsor Court salad, crab cake, asparagus, and mac/cheese.
Lovely biscuits were served with the meal. The men took part in the $2.00 Titos martinis and raved about them! It was all topped off with tasting of three homemade sherberts for the table.
Our server, Antonia was lovely, full of the Southern charm you go to NOLA to experience!
A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!!!!!!
Was surprised that I had to switch tables 3 times. The first had slivers of glass on the table top. The second was a dirty stained tablecloth. Didn't expect this from this prestigious hotel.
Had the $19.84 lunch special. Great selections from the menu. One entree and three sides & sorbet dessert. A very good value! Crab cake and asparagus were fine and the gumbo was very salty with little rice and ingredients. The truffle Mac/cheese was tasteless.
