Food was delicious. I had the John Dory. Yum 😋 it was my birthday celebration 🎉 drinks were very good as well. Soup of the day was potato leek, so delicious.Atmosphere was quaint not stuffy 5 stars 🌟
Outstanding food. The best bread. Had an excellent cobb salad and hamburger with french fries.
Very nice dinner with the family for our son’s birthday. We love Grill on the alley and always have nice service.
The server, Leia, was the best I have ever had there! After years of visiting, I can say that this visit was exceptional. My tea/water were refilled quickly; she offered options from the kitchen —I love the onion rings but the order is too large for 1 person—she got me a half order. No one else has ever checked with the kitchen & offered that option. My lobster salad was very good. Bread was too toasted & she agreed that it was variable! She was friendly, checking on all customers with a good attitude & smile, while being efficient. Try to not lose her!
Once again, Megan was an outstanding part of our meal with great service and a friendly attitude.
The Grill on the Alley- Westlake- is always absolutely wonderful. This time it was exceedingly good because of the courtesy and support of the restaurant manager. As it turned out, the steak my husband ordered - a bone-in fillet- was not as expected. The manager came over and took care of us.
We have always loved this place and will continue our romance with it.
Thanks so much
Solid back to mix things up from Mastros, which is our go to steakhouse in the area. Was ironic considering we got the burgers and shake shack is nextdoor, obviously different quality etc, they make a great old fashioned as well.
Great kids menu, delicious food, wonderful ambiance, and excellent service
Alway welcoming, Megan is a wonderful server. We always try to get her table, she is so knowledgeable about wine and food.
New ownership has changed the experience a bit. Chop House Burger is a tad smaller roll and patty, but its good. The salad is still really good, fresh lettuce. Service was just ok today. In past, servers would always ask when they served the salad if we wanted fresh ground pepper, today we had to track down the server to ask. Also had to track her down for silverware. Front desk hostess was aloof. May have to try other restaurants for a good burger as this one is expensive, and with size and service dwindling - Grill may no longer be our favorite lunch spot.
It is unfortunate, but this restaurant just can't seem to get it's act together. While it has no problem charging top dollar for virtually everything it serves, the service and frequently, the quality of what comes out of the kitchen, rarely match up to what one pays.
This last visit, we attended midweek, when half the restaurant was not filled, but apparently, a large party was in one of the private rooms. this threw the entire staff, including greeters, into a tizzy, servicing that group, at the expense of virtually everyone else in the restaurant.
We waited an hour, after speaking with the manager, for two items, both pre-cooked, (meatloaf and shortribs), that they couldn't find the time to put together despite the fact we had nothing coming prior to that.
We have experienced issues like this before, on a variety of occasions and we have decided that we are finished with this establishment. Maybe in the past, before many quality alternatives existed, but now, especially; when asked to spend the prices that this restaurant asks of its customers, they can get it from someone else.
Only reason I would not recommend is that the food was overpriced (could have gone to Mastros for the same money) and NONE of it arrived hot. Wasn’t cold .....simply warm
We had the most excellent b-day ever😀This was our first time at This Grilll! We usually go to the one in BH. The atmosphere is so nice .we started off in the bar. Since we were early ,
we took advantage of the Happy Hour!! Great drink and appetizer prices!! Sushi was to die for! Then we went to the dining room for dinner. Mike was our server! He was so great! We never had to ask for anything! We both got the special of the evening which was two beef medallion over mash potatoes and topped with fried onions and asparagus. My husband substrates fries and no prob at all. The dinner was excellent. We will definitely be back soon. I hope they have the special again and Mike is working👏😃Thanks for the great b-day dinner❤️
The Grill is a quiet, reserved, excellent classic style restaurant with good food, great service, and comfortable setting. A welcome return to a quiet, comfortable scene. Not overly expensive, yet certainly not cheap.
The food was good but the steak was not served piping hot. The server took about 10 minutes to acknowledge us at the beginning and she was not very attentive on her own initiative through the meal. It was a nice meal and we enjoyed sitting out on the patio with the live music but it was not great.
One of our very favorites. Consistently excellent. My wife swears by the Lobster Bisque. But everything is done right. Service is friendly without being overbearing. You can't go wrong.
My wife and I were dining with another couple (life-long friends who were in town house-hunting from the Bay Area) for our second time at The Grill. Before I tell you what we ordered and how much we liked it, I want to mention the best part of our wonderful dinner was our server, Mike, a professional who knows his craft. He took care of us like we were his only table and it was a busy Saturday night. Mike is smart, friendly, funny, quick-witted and great to talk with. He said he was recently engaged so someone else thinks Mike is pretty great too.
We had a lobster salad, crab cakes, New York strip, lobster tail, baked potato, Brussel sprouts and one a fish entree. The lobster salad was fantasticly fresh with big pieces of lobster. The crab cakes are a special creation and as good as any other restaurants in the Valley or Malibu. Yes, that good. The steak and lobster were split for my wife and I. The steak was perfectly cooked to our liking and the lobster was BIG and exquisitely prepared. My mouth is watering now thinking about how delicious it was. The vegetables were very tasty as well.
I highly recommend dining at The Grill and strongly suggest you ask for Mike as your server. Thanks for the great evening!
Delightful lunch. Excellent service. Our server's graciousness added to a lovely dining experience.
Always outstanding service and food. Always feel at home at The Grill. Our server, Meagan, was great. Thank You!!!
It was really good. It’s definitely an upscale meal, as is reflected in the pricing and the service. All the servers are very nice and treat you well. Husband had steak and I had salmon, both were very good. Highly recommend the calamari appetizer. Tasted really fresh! They even gave us a small slice of cake for my husbands birthday. Very nice evening.
Beautiful place w excellent food. Enjoyed it very much.
Great to n every way!!
We like to come here form lunch, it' quiet, the service is top notch and the prices are a little less than dinner menu. The chicken pot pie is quite a dish, very large and very good. The braised short ribs had a very nice presentation and is a full meal with mashed potatoes and some veggies but I was a little disappointed in the taste of the ribs. Next time I will order something else. They have a full bar and out door patio seating is available as is a private room for small gatherings. I like the salt crystals added to the butter when they serve the bread.
Food and ambiance were terrific. The three of us enjoyed it.
We don’t know how we missed this place. What a pleasant surprise from drinks to dessert. We’ll be back.
This is a nice restaurant with great service. There were four of us. Two of us thought the food was very good. One of us ordered the lamb chops medium rare. Of the 3 chops, 2 were medium and 1 was well done. It was sent back. The replacement came about 20 minutes later and was very rare. One of us ordered the brownie dessert. It was burned. It was sent back and replaced. The replacement was wonderful. Through all this the server was excellent. So overall the food is good but there are some misses. The menu is very limited. The service is the best.
Loved the outdoor section! We shared appetizers for the table and they were all great. Recommend the tuna poke, spinach artichoke dip, and sliders.
It was a wonderful dining experience. Holiday weekend, so the restaurant was pretty empty. Our server was charming and very efficient. Wonderful cocktails, and salad, followed by delicious fish entres. I was concerned about calories, and asked how "heavy" the sauce for the fish was. The server offered to bring it on the side. This was the perfect solution for me. All in all, it was a lovely evening.
In an era of noisy restaurants with over-rated menues, The Grill reminds me of a great New York City restaurant with great ambiance, excellent service, and delicious food. My husband and I love going there as often as we can and bringing friends.
Last date night before baby!
Amazing food in the most delightful environment. Beautiful porch outdoor dining is especially inviting. Service and food spectacular.
Service was pleasant however we were charged for baked potato toppings when we didn’t directly ask for or need them in a tricky way- then charged to sub our side without being told - side of this and side of that and it adds up and feels cheap and like we were cheated when it might have been fine if your are just upfront and warn your customers so they can make that call. The 2 baked potatoes we had tasted old like they were from the previous day and the food was cold. We had hoped this place had turned around but it’s the same. It’s also empty at prime time dinner time which doesn’t bode well for what was once a great restaurant- we left highly disappointed as this also reaffirms our loyalty to Mastros - they just know how to be consistent and offer great service with detail unlike the Grill on the Alley.
One of the prettiest of the Grill restaurants. The acoustics were excellent, at a perfect level for conversation. However, the COBB salad seemed to have less chicken, tomatoes, and cheese, used shredded lettuce, and the dressing wasn’t as tasty as the Grills in Studio City, Beverly Hills, or Burbank. I will stick with the extraordinary French Onion Soup and Burgers.
Then after we finished lunch, we realized that our otherwise attentive server forgot the birthday dessert that when we had requested when we mad our reservation on Open Table. But, for sure, we will all be back, as there still seems to be a shortage of fine dining in the Westlake Village/TO area.
Although the restaurant was very slow during our late lunch (3pm), our server remained attentive throughout. A nice sized starter salad with oil and vinegar was my chosen healthy option, although the oysters here are usually my favorite starter. ts the best lunchtime Chophouse Burger around. Always prepared to order, not overly salted and quality beef is flavorful. We did the BYOB and paid for corkage, our server is among those that actually do take time to stop by and pour for us. Kudo's on that. So many times restaurants charge corkage but neglect that..so we acknowledge when a server takes care of us.
Service was not good. Slow and inattentive.
Been there before so decided to give it another try. Nope place was empty except the bar area. The food was just ok.... Better places to eat. Sorry been there many times......still can't recommend it.
Always enjoy our evening at The Grill :)
Our server was AMAZING. I wish i could remember his name, but he was fantastic. Made our Father's Day brunch very special. Thank you for training your staff to be so enjoyable.
Great service, great food, great experience. Always consistent.
I made reservations for a business lunch, requesting a quiet table. All was GREAT - could not have been better. The table location, the service, the food. Really appreciate the fact that it is quiet , so that business can be conducted.
