The food was terrible, especially for the price. If I am paying over $30 for shrimp pasta , at least make sure the shrimp isn’t over cooked. The shrimp was chewy, just disgusting. The oysters were extremely questionable, I didn’t eat them- I was literally terrified. And the lamp chops were so dry a side of dressing was necessary. Would never go back..... literally. They are charging High end prices on Low end quality food. It’s ridiculous.
We enjoyed being outside with a front row view of people enjoying the area.
Our server wouldn't wear his mask in a way that covered his nose. All of the other servers and staff did, but not him. It was just a really uneasy experience and we were shocked that no one else working there, including his manager, said anything to him about wearing it correctly. He stood away from the table when taking our order, but couldn't do that when dropping something off. We didn't really want to say anything if it wasn't being made into an issue by management that clearly saw him.
Taking that out of the equation and just judging the restaurant, it was just ok. Steak was salty and closer to medium than medium rare. Not enough to send back and wait for another one, but a steak that expensive that's touted as their "signature" should be done right. Sides and appetizer weren't anything special. Just a real lack of attention to detail you'd expect at that price point. Would I go back? Probably not. There are dozens of other steakhouses in the Bay Area to try out first.

Service was horrible! My steak ordered was over done the first time and undercooked the second time. Fries were cold and soggy and the experience was overall awful! Will not return!

We had a superb lunch on the patio, We had their ahi tuna appetizer. We then enjoyed their salmon burger. We also enjoyed dessert. Service was very good. This is a fun place to go for lunch.

It was disappointing when I requested a specific table to not be in the sun due to medication that I was taking, I was told that she had a Big party coming and had to keep it reserve since it was a big party. There was another couple that was leaving and suggested that we sit there. She said no because she was explicating a party of six there. I had reserve my reservations at 2:00 for a 4:30 reservation for two. I believe the color of my skin caused us to sit in high chairs and the hosted pushed a umbrella over us. It was very uncomfortable. No one ever came the two hours we were there to the table I had requested. We paid over $200.00 for our meal. Our waiter was good. The book is never like the cover. I have stayed at the Fairmont several times and have eaten at the Grill several times. Others were shaking their heads, they could not believe that the hottest would not let us sit in the empty table that was completely by itself and not next to any other table.
Wonderful and friendly service and amazing food. Don’t miss the lobster Mac and cheese.

I love this place. Alfresco dining on a beautiful summer night was wonderful. I'll be glad when open for inside dining and drinking.

We love The Grill and have been coming here for years. We love Evie, she is always so warm and welcoming at the bar. We were served by Dylan for the first time and he made our anniversary dinner one to remember. He offered to take a photo of my boyfriend and I and was very energetic and courteous. We cannot wait to go back!
This used to be one of our favorite nice restaurants in San Jose. This time the service was terrible and the food was inconsistent- what was good was not worth the price.
Waited 30min to get a drink. Waited again for appetizers. And again for wine with dinner. Entrees and sides came out with a 10 minute gap, and some were lukewarm.
Mary was our server. She was fantastic. Very attentive to our needs.

My steak was excellent, the cocktail was average, but the young hostess was put-offish, not at all welcoming. Add to her incompetence was that she marked me as a no show on Open Table. Management should take care that the host/hostess is the face of your establishment. Check out the hosts at the Palm or Morton’s.
Lunch on a weekday is a perfect time to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and receive undivided attention from the staff.
Great service and the food was good. A bit overpriced but overall a nice place for dinner!
Everything was great but the lobster tails. They tasted bland and the bottom of it connected to the shell was tuff to cut and eat. Lemon and Butter barely added any flavour. I would like a complimentary sauce to go with it and some caviar. I didn't get the chance to try the steak but if I do come back I would like to try it.

It took awhile to get our first order placed but the food was worth the wait and then we ordered dessert to go and it was a 45 minute wait to get it! I’ll be back for the food, not the service.
The Valentine’s lunch menu was limited, with no real vegetarian offerings. My husband had the steak, which he only ate half of. The other half was fat and gristle, very bad steak. My crab cake was mediocre, and the wedge salad was tasteless. We were sat at the table closest to the entrance, even though there were no other diners. It was drafty and cold. All in all, a very poor dining experience. And a very expensive one.

Unbelievably slow service. Took 10 min before anyone even came to the table to offer us water and menus. The waitress didn’t know what the soup of the day was. After we ordered it took 45 min before we got our food. So almost an hour from the tine we sat down until we got our food! And we had tickets to a show (which we were late for). Several other tables walked out. We should have, but the waitress kept apologizing and saying we were 3rd in line. But after being told we were “3rd in line” for the fourth time we figured they really didn’t have their act together. BTW, we had reservations so it’s not like we walked in off the street. The only consolation was the food was pretty good
I hope just an off night for the kitchen staff. Waited an hour for food after we ordered and we still did not make it to the top of the queue. We had a show to see and could wait any longer. Our server was SUPER professional throughout and tried to accommodate. The restaurant picked up our drinks for the inconvenience. Very nice.

We arrived for our 6:30 reservation and the hostess was very polite and seated us immediately and provided us with a wine menu. She informed us that a waiter would be with us shortly . We waited 15 minutes and no one ever accknowledged that we were present even though tables around us were being taken care of. We received no menus and no water. After 15 minutes we gathered our coats and left to go across the street for dinner but noticed the bar had available room . We were greeted immediately by Evie who took great care of us and provided us with a good meal. We thank her for her great service . We doubt we will ever try making a reservation and sitting in the dining room again.
Dinner was AMAZING. The wagyu ribeye was the best steak I've ever had, you must order this if you come for dinner, it's worth every penny. Our server was outstanding, and the manager, Paul, was so helpful in picking wine and steak, and so friendly. My husband and I had a great date night and can't wait to go back for more steak. Thank you for a great night!

Good lunch today! Excellent grill men here. They always nail their temperatures! Usual excellent selection of wines by the glass.
Too expensive for quality of food. Decor is great but doesn’t justify prices.
