The Grill on the Alley, Dallas, opened in July 2006 in the Galleria Dallas. Our famous signature dishes of prime steaks and chops, fresh seafood, pasta and freshly prepared salads are complemented by an extensive wine list, featuring unique selections from California’s boutique wineries, as well as a high energy, full service bar introducing hand crafted classic cocktails.Modeled after the great big city grills of the 30s and 40s, The Grill on the Alley serves traditional American fare. There are two private rooms available for private events: The Board Room accommodates up to 10 guests and The Grill Roomaccommodates up to 32 guests.
The Grill on the Alley can meet all of your special event needs. The space is perfect for rehearsal dinners, cocktail receptions, or high end business meetings. Every event is assigned a Special Events Manager who will assist in planning everything from conception to execution.

Excellent food. Atmosphere was very tasteful. Dark woods and a nice bar area. We sat at a booth which I requested for quiet so we could talk. The wine list is very nice and decent prices. W shared the filet and the trout filled with a crab cake. Both were excellently prepared. It gave us a sort of surf and turf. The Brussels sprouts side was also very tasty. I will go back on a future trip to Dallas.
I have had mixed experiences with The Grill on the Alley. This time was no different. I was there with my wife on Valentine's Day. We requested a booth in our reservation and the hostess seated us in a booth in a great location, not near a lot of traffic. We were seated for almost 10 minutes and had yet to see a waitperson at the table (we noticed that people seated near us had wait staff at their table almost immediately after they were seated). I went to the hostess station and spoke to someone who might have been the manager. He was very polite and apologetic and after that, our waiter promptly arrived and also apologized. After that, the service was excellent, out waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive (but not bothersome), and the person who might have been the manager gave us a free appetizer and I was not charged for my glass of wine. The food was excellent. I will go back to The Grill on the Alley.
Service slow initially til the waiter who was going to take care of us was figured out. Restaurant didn’t read my open table seat preference request. Didn’t have a Pinot noir wine by glass less than $18 and I should have been offered the lower price!
Overall - food was excellent. Pricey!
Walking to our table Saturday night Tanya slipped and fell. The waiter turned around, stared at us and didn't offer to assist.
We were there at least 5 minutes before the waiter arrived on a night when the restaurant was half full. Asked if we had any questions about the menu. Told him we hadn't received a menu. You would think he would have noticed that there wasn't any menus at our table.
Brought us dinner and bar menus. Familiar with both by browsing online. We both decided we would have martinis. Nowhere on the printed bar menu were martini's listed. Was shocked that a restaurant would have something online but not in print. Brought the bartender to our table. Bartender using his cell phone brought up the martini menu. Sidecar martini's are great!
Now we order. Tanya ordered a Caesar salad. Asked for pepper. Never came. I ordered the Crab cake. For the main course Tanya ordered Filet Mignon medium medium rare with blue cheese dressing. I ordered rib eye medium. Filet comes out without the blue cheese and I'm brought the crab cake entree. It wasn't even our waiter who brought the entries to our table. Had the server call our waiter over who apologized profusely. Several minutes later they returned with the corrected steaks. Tanya cut into her filet discovering it was well done. My rib eye was hardly cooked. Both were inedible.
Again asked a nearby waiter to bring our waiter to the table. To his credit he was mortified. He left and returned with the manager. At this point our dinner celebrating Tanya's birthday was ruined told him we just wanted to leave. We expected to pay for our martinis and appetizers. The bill came with zero due.
Would have considered giving them another opportunity except for the fact that their carelessness extended to not cleaning the empty tables surrounding ours during the entire time we were there.
While it still has some of its original charm ( of the Rodeo Drive ) original, too many chef changes and menu changes have made the dining experience just average. But prices are very expensive. I miss the days of Chef Daniel and his personal touches to both the menu and staff
If you are going to the grill, just order steak. My daughter and I ordered chicken picatta which was undercooked, rubbery, and tasted like a frozen entree'. The three guys in our party all ordered steak and they were delicious. I'm not a steak eater, I don't have an appetite for a meal that substantial so I count on steak houses to have good options for lighter eaters. She and I both felt ill the next day from the chicken and were disappointed that a $400 meal wasn't simply amazing. Service was very nice but disorganized, entree's came before we had finished the appetizers, we felt rushed.
So bizarre how my reservation couldnt have been found yet I had a confirmation.. It was suppose to be a private dinner and we were sitted at this huge table with about 6 other seats not romantic at all... The waiter was not personable didn’t even introduce himself.. I saw a gentleman I’m assuming Manager or owner go around asking other customers if they were enjoying themselves.. He never came to us and asked us.. So much for first impressions.
Very Dissapointing. Sent back the first entree because the beef on the French Dip was dry and over cooked. Waitress said it would be medium rare. Not sure Vern close. Roll was also very hard. Reordered the beef salad. Meat was same again and salad was covered in way to much dressing.
This is one of those places that doesn’t get enough attention and credit for how well it is run. The staff and bartender were the stars of the night. This is one of those restaurants that you should rediscover for a good night out. When you finally make it around to going there, you will see what I mean.
My husband and I dined here to celebrate our anniversary. We enjoyed the food and drinks and our server was awesome. He was very attentive and could answer any question we had in regards to the menu. There was another server working that night as well and if our server didn't see our drinks getting low, he did. They were a great team! The only problem we had was when we walked in, there were two people working in the front and it took a while for them to acknowledge us standing there, and the restaurant was relatively dead save for a bridal party that was trickling in. When I made my reservation I stated that we were celebrating our anniversary and we'd like a cozy booth, neither of those requests were acknowledged. We were placed at the first available booth, and no one ever mentioned anything in regards to the celebration.
My meal was very good. My wife ordered the chicken pot pie however and it was so salty she couldn't eat it. We told the waitress who told the manager and he came to our table. We let him taste it and he agreed. Soon the chef was at our table apologizing for the dish. They removed the charge from the bill. This is the mark of good serve: how mistakes are handled. All restaurants and chefs make mistakes, what separates the good the from the bad is how they handle them. Bravo to the Grill on the Alley for how they handled this.
