What a major let down for this restaurant. I attended the 'silent opening' of the Dallas location when it first opened. I knew of, and really enjoyed, the Grill on the Alley in Beverly Hills. I was hoping for the same excellent quality in Dallas. Over the years, and as the chefs left, the menu has become much smaller, more expensive, and the quality of the food has gone down. I'm very disappointed in the changes and will not be using this location any more. I will make a special effort to visit the Rodeo Drive location and hope their quality and reputation has not gone down. This used to be a special restaurant with great staff, creative foods, and all reasonably priced.
Way over priced for what what you get. Food did not come out hot. Stay away from the french fries as a side dish, the fries are not as good as a fast food restaurant and the portion is smaller. Will not be back.
We had an amazing time. The service was great and the food was just amazing. We will definitely be returning in the future. Our waiter was so attentive and just made the experience that much better.
Our server was personable and attentive. My NY strip prepared medium was cooked to the right temperature and was a 6.5 on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best steak I've ever had. My wife's seafood pasta was mostly without flavor, with the exception of her pan-seared scallops. They were only made better with the addition of the bone marrow butter I got for my steak.
Valentines Day dinner.
Server was excellent. Very nice atmosphere. The food and menu continue to decline - we ordered 2 lobster salads which tasted terrible. Just awful! Wrong type of lettuce and skimpy on the lobster and nuts. Disappointing and I want to find another restaurant for my many business lunches.
Hannah was our server. She is excellent. Very pleasant and professional. I will ask for her table when I return to the restaurant.
Very expensive for what you get. $4 per shrimp!!!!
Food wasn’t good
I have eaten here for years and do not recall a more poor experience. It was a Friday night and not very crowded at all. The first thing we noticed is our waiter seemed stoned or drunk. It was clear he was on something. The food started out fine and the lobster bisque was amazing as always. The Peppered Ahi Tuna was amazing as well. After this, things went down hill. They brought the entrees about 25 minutes after our bisque. My date ordered the seafood pasta but substitute veggies instead of pasta because she does low carb. They brought a bunch of veggies with a few pieces of shrimp, a scallop that they had cut into 4 very thin pieces, and served no crawfish (even though the menu said their would be some) and no cream sauce. We also ordered a side of Brussel sprouts that did not show up until about 20 minutes after we were done eating. The manager came out an apologized for the delay and offered us complimentary dessert and dessert coffees. We ordered key lime pie to go (we later discovered once we got home they gave us coconut cream pie) and my date ordered a Baileys cappuccino. The stoned waiter brought her a cup of black coffee and a shot glass of Baileys which he poured in the coffee in front of her and gave it to her. We told him this was not a cappuccino and could we actually get one with frothed milk. He did not seem to know the difference. We likely won’t be going back. The waiter has no business working in this level of restaurant.

This was a business lunch. It was quiet and easy to talk and hear. The servers were good but not too pushy but very responsive.

The only issue I had was open table did not get the confirmation I was there for my reservation. I need to make sure I get credit for it.

Eh... this place has a lot of potential. The service to start at the bar was less than adequate. Very slow to greet and even slower to return to fulfill our drink orders. The service began to get slightly better throughout the evening, but not stellar for the “high-end” type restaurant they are “selling”. The soup was “ok” lobster bisque. The filet... for a close to $50 entree, the cut should be very lean and mine had some fatty pieces. The creamed spinach was a disaster! Some butter, salt and garlic could have revived their attempt of decent creamed spinach, but what was served was very flavorless to say the least. The béarnaise sauce was a good attempt, but was broken and did not have an ample amount of tarragon reduction to make it a winner sauce.
On to dessert. The cheese cake and specialty coffee/latte was very good.
Overall I give this establishment a 3 out of 5 or 6 out of 10. Lots of work to be done to become a winner in my book. Won’t be returning for a while.
The food quality over the past 2-3 years continues to fall in my opinion.
Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. We had a business meeting and he managed to get all of our orders and food delivered with little interruption. He also had lots of support from staff that were very respectful of our need to discuss business.

Our waiter was the perfect mix of friendly and hands off. Very knowledgeable. He was able to adjust my meal to accommodate my food allergies. Food was fantastic! Cozy warm place for a quiet intimate meal.
My dining companions thought the artichoke dip was some of the best they'd ever eaten. One friend had the fried calamari and said it was exceptional. We shared dessert and all loved one of the selections-- key lime pie. It was tart and sweet and just perfect. I had the glazed salmon which was in no way glazed. There was glaze decorating the plate, but the salmon looked and tasted as though it was boiled in unsalted water. The service was wonderful, attentive, and pleasant.
Took my wife there to simply celebrate her. Could not have been a better experience. Our waiter was excellent and most attentive. Food was also excellent. We had a great conversation and felt like we had ample privacy even though life was fully moving around us. We will go back!

We were slightly disappointed with our dinner. We ordered Oysters Rockefeller and it came out cold, like it had been made previously in the day and they forgot to warm it back up. Also ordered Brussel Sprouts as a side, but never received them. When the check came, it still included the dish. The restaurant did end up taking them off the ticket. Also, no prime beef was available.

Attended brunch and we were one of maybe 5or 6 other customers in place at 11:30 am. Ordered food and coffee and both came luke warm. After brunch we ordered apple cobbler and it took at least 15- 20 minutes to receive one order. This too was luke warm and rather dry. We have eaten at the Grill many times before when we lived in Dallas and never had this level of food and beverage before. Very disappointing to see this establishment fall to this level of food quality and service. Probably won’t come back again knowing this is what passes for service and food prep. We drove from Weatherford, Tx for brunch because we remembered our many great dining experiences in the past.
We were there on a Sunday evening, so the restaurant was very quiet. I had oysters as a starter, and they were ok but not notable. Nicely presented, however. My wife had their lobster bisque which was as excellent as advertised. My entree, the sea bass, was perfect, and spouse's salmon was cooked just to her liking, not overdone. We will certainly go there again when we return to Dallas.

Attentive staff. Our server was very pleasant and accommodating. Noticing we weren’t eating the butter with our bread - which is fabulous, by the way - she asked if we would like olive oil and balsamic and brought it quickly. That was thoughtful.
Went for our Anniversary. Valet was a mess on arrival, host barely greeted us. Server was great. We did have to tell him we were celebrating our anniversary as no one acknowledged it. Food was not nearly as good as in the past. We will most likely not return. Very disappointing evening
This was once a great place food quality has gone way down and service is getting very bad I will be seeking a new spot for lunch I had to wait 20 minutes for a waiter and it was not that busy
Chef and staff were definitely off their game today.
Two of four guests waited over 20 minutes and were only shown the table when we went and got them.
Chicken pot pie had a chicken bone in it.
Beans in the bean & ham soup were very undercooked.
Restaurant reported me as a no-show.
Overall disappointing day at The Grill on the Alley.
Excellent house Old Fashioned. We tried the Oysters Rockefeller. They were awesome. The filet was cooked exactly to order. We shared the chocolate brownie dessert. Absolutely delicious! We'll be back.
