The Grill on the Alley - Dallas

It's a great place to take anyone that needs a first class dining experience on a budget. The staff is always attentive. My waiter was the best I always have his area when I come to dine .
Thank you Taylor! We look forward to seeing you very soon! We have live music on Thursday's starting at 5 in the bar Come check us out!
Great food and attentive service
For an expensive dinner, one expects good service, especially when the restaurant is not very busy. This was very poor service and the food was just okay, not exceptional (steak was over-done, other food was charred more than should have been). Dessert, however, was exceptionally good. Too many other great places in Dallas to make me want to return to The Grill.
It was ehh. An over inflation of prices because of the area. But the experience did the job.
Simply amazing! I came in, was immediately greeted by Kat, seated with fresh ice water in the seat of my choosing(booth), and presented with a menu. I selected the Chilean Sea Bass. It was so fresh and flaky. The miso sauce was tasty along with the ginger rice and sauteed spinach. I ordered the coconut cake to go. I'm sure it had about 2000 calories, but it did not taste like it! ;-) It was not overly sweet or creamy, but very mild. Kat was very attentive, service was fast, and I was satisfied! I would love to return to The Grill!
The Grill on The Alley was wonderful way to enjoy a delicious, fresh, suculant meal...Great People...
We were excited to try this restaurant for Mother’s Day after reading the great reviews. That was not our experience today. The restaurant did seem to be staffed for the event of Mothers Day with one hostess and one bartender and no bar area wait staff.
Even though we had reservations, the hostess recommended we sit in the bar area due to a backlog of tables not turning quickly.
The raw oysters on the half shell were delicious but it was disappointing From there. My boyfriend had to get up and ask for everything we needed including drinks, appetizers and lunch plus salt and pepper and other condiments. My entree of crab stuffed shrimp included 3 shrimp and a few Brussel sprout leaves for $30. My boyfriend ordered off the Mother’s Day menu for eggs Benedict and a drive through McDonalds would have been better. We called the manager over and he did do the right thing to comp a lot of stuff. We were baffled that such a lovely restaurant in a prime location could have so many gaffes. We are not sure whether to try this restaurant again.
Went to celebrate Mother's Day. The hostess was a bit overwhelmed. Stated that they were behind by 15 minutes. Once we were seated, we asked for a highchair. It took 10 minutes and we had to ask twice before finally getting one. The waitress was great. The bar had difficulty keeping up with the unlimited mimosa's - which it took 15 minutes to get the first one. The menu was limited due to Mother's Day. My wife ordered a salad and it was apparent they were running out of lettuce. It was wilted and yellow. Did not look very appetizing. Usually this is a great place, but it looked like they had more patrons and not enough staff throughout the house.
The Grill on the Alley is an excellent place for a 1x1 business discussion without interruption and in a calming atmosphere. Food and service are always great!
Food was inedible. Cobb salad has cold frozen chicken and French Onion soup tasted like a bowl of soi sauce. Fish was great. Service great. Recovery great - manager gave 20% discount. But wonder what happened back in kitchen to salad and soup
Good place for a cozy drink, or a filling lunch/dinner steak. Classic American steakhouse ambiance, excellent service, delicious lobster bisque! The fish options were really good too.. perfectly cooked.
Crab cakes were doughy/mushy.
Meatloaf was dry.
Steak was good.
Salmon was good.
Drinks were great.
Overall pretty forgettable food.
Looks like restaurant is dying a little
Nice to go to a place with white linen and have professional waiters. Every steakhouse I go to gets compared to Morton's as a reference. I would rank it very close in service and food quality. TGOA just doesn't custom make a salad next to your table or offer a souffle. I make a point of eating here every time we eat at the Westin Galleria hotel since it's just down the sidewalk too.
The service was friendly but the server got the order wrong for someone at the table. I ordered the cobb salad and it was boring and not very good. I use this restaurant for business meetings but not sure if I will go back for a while.

Wonderful server, great experience!
Four for a late lunch. Three of us had the special Crab Louie salad which was superb. One had another special swordfish which was also good. Service was top quality. Selection of tap beer was interesting. We will be back
The fillet steak was not as flavorful as it should be for dry aging and the price. The sides were good but broccoli needed to be cooked a little more. No baked potato is worth $12. Good but not top notch food. Service was excellent.
The food was horrible. My fish was inedible. The side dishes had zero flavor. The staff was not knowledgeable about the food or wine on their menu. I would never eat here again.
Amazing restaurant. It’s perfect for celebrating any special occasion.
Salmon entree was incredible!
Mike, Thank you for your review! We hope to see you very soon!
First time I enjoyed n will definitely be back
Thank you for your review! We offer Happy Hour all day on Saturday's and Sunday's at the bar as well as $5 martinis Cheers! Melissa Segura
Steak dried out table was not set up no menus. No explanation on Valentine’s Day menu or regular menu. Drinks never refilled always had to ask. Waste of money
Several years ago, we hosted a private dinner at The Grill on the Alley. The service and food were amazing so this is a special place for us. This year, we decided to visit on Valentine's Day. The food and service did not disappoint. I had Ahi Poke as an appetizer. It was good but lacking in presentation. My sea bass was great and the mango sorbet was a perfect end to the meal. The only flaw to the evening was the independently run valet service was under staffed and had a line so long that people were leaving their cars so the restaurant would know they were going to keep their reservation.
First time diners. Would not go back. Never asked if we wanted a second glass of wine; glass sat there empty until we left. Steak was rare; sent back; returned rare; sent back. Brought back rare again.
I will give it another chance because it has been good in the past . We had a reservation at 6:00, arrived on time and walked through a completely empty restaurant to a very small table in the middle. We asked if there was any chance to get a booth and hostess said no they were all reserved. I said I guess our reservation didn’t count. That set the mood for the dinner. Our server was sweet. The food was mediocre and has been better. My date said he owed me a do over. On a night like Valentine’s , I expect Over the top quality and impeccable planning. Valentine’s is not an unexpected evening.
The meal started out fine. Our server too ill and we were never passed off to a new server. And while the collective group of servers checked for for empty dishes and water refill we felt a bit abandoned. We ordered Salmon and it was a bit over cooked and portion size and presentation for the cost was less than wonderful.
Thank you for your review, We certainly apologize, that you noticed the curve ball that was thrown our way, We were trying not to let that impact our level of service. However it did... We would love it if you gave us another chance. I would be more than happy to make a reservation for you and ensure that you get the dining experience you deserve. 214.459.1601 We look forward to hearing from you very soon Melissa Segura General Manager
Amazingly attentive staff with the patience of angels. My date and I were treated like royalty from arrival to departure.
As usual, The Grill on the Alley proved to be the perfect place for a special lunch. Our server was great and our lunches were delicious. I love the fact that we can make reservations through OpenTable at The Grill on the Alley which assures us that we will have a no-waiting, hassle-free lunch. Love The Grill!
Ellen, Thank you for your review! We agree Kat is great, next time you join us you can ask for her! We hope to see you soon! Best, Melissa Segura General Manager
Beautiful restaurant. Most of our party was disappointed with their meal. Nothing special.
Food and service were both great. I will definitely be returning.
Disappointing. Did not enjoy like I did their Beverly Hills location. Won’t return.
Picked a spot near Galleria for a business lunch and was pleasantly surprised by this one.
Very attentive service, but food slipped a notch since prior visits. Nothing awful, but a bit disappointing.
Exceptional food and service
We were from out of town and just wanted a nice steak dinner before leaving Dallas. The people were so very friendly, the food was delicious. They catered to our every need. The Coconut Cake was spectacular and allowed us to laugh with the table across from us - it is enough for 4 people! Thank you so much for the delightful evening.
I had a business lunch at the Grill. I had reserved a table and the table was ready and in a good location in the restaurant for a business conversation. The service was excellent but did not interrupt the conversation. The waiter was patient and professional. A great place for a business lunch.
At my visit yesterday, things seem to be a bit off-key, e.g. :
- One employee seemed angry, banging chairs, scowling & generally being unpleasant
- Initial service seemed slow, viz. it took ~10-15 minutes to be greeted @ our table & asked for our drink order
I had a bad experience regarding service for a 9 people dinner. The waiter was busy serving other small parties. She lacked service due to amount of waiters. I was expecting better quality of service.
