The Grill on the Alley - Beverly Hills Ratings and Reviews
Service was terrible, restaurant not busy on Monday night, our waiter came over 3 times in first 10 minutes to order, we felt rushed, then couldn’t find him, finally ordered a drink and he disappeared for 15 minutes. Food was good although not hot.
He then was NOT around after we finished dinner for dessert and we couldn’t get the check. Dessert was packed up in kitchen as we requested and one was left out by “accident”?
The check had extra $10.00 charge for dessert which came with dine LA dinner.
We felt we can’t go back to this restaurant. Two parties next to us also complained about the service. Are there managers watching what’s going on?? Maybe they are busy socializing with guests
I guess we’re firtunate this isn’t the only restaurant in town.
You sent me this survey, this is how we felt about our experience
Was the best pre-New Year's dinner ever! We took my cousin for dinner. The special of the night was filet oscar! He opted to step it up to whole filet instead of just the petite. OMG the thing was a roast and he enjoyed every bite :) I chose the petite it melted like butter crab and sauce was the bomb. My husband enjoyed the surf and turf. The lobster was cooked perfect and was very sweet. They enjoyed an excellent cab from their big wine list and we were too full to have dessert, but finished the night with an expresso! Perfect evening. Great way to end 2017! Big thank you to the wait staff and chefs! Bravo The Grill on the Alley. Much love!
We booked the Grill on the Alley for dinner during a mini vacation to attend the Rose Bowl game. I enjoyed the Parmesan Crusted Sea Bass. My wife enjoyed the pork chop with blackberry sauce. We also ordered a bottle of wine. The total cost of our meal was about $200. Portions were generous. The food was generally excellent, as expected. However, the Parmesan crust on the sea bass was a bit over cooked and hard. Service was superior - attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. We dined early (5:45), the restaurant was uncrowded and the clientele was older (65+). The dining area is very “live” acoustically and as more diners arrived, the noise level rose significantly. If one is looking for a candlelight, intimate, romantic dinner, this is not the spot. But, if the goal is excellent food and superior service, we recommend it highly,
Our service was slow and very fragmented. No drinks order or bread. It seemed like we were forgotten. If this was my first visit I would have not come back again. The food was of course delicious hot and I like the atmosphere. The woman’s bathroom door was broken.
Service here used to be par excellence. Waiter was inattentive, kept forgetting things (like opening the wine bottle), never checked on us/asked if everything was alright, had to ask for bread three times, etc. Very poor.
Food used to be excellent also. This time, cream spinach came cold (never could get waiter's attention to send it back). Sea bass special--for $48--had no taste except for the topping which was only moderately good. Business partners did not get meat the way they asked. Will not bother going back.
We met our friends of many years. We go so we can talk with each other and be heard. PLUS--the food is top tier. None of us has had a bad dinner in 20 years!! So now you know our ages! The Grill is a wonderful place whenever you wish to go for lunch or dinner.
We were out celebrating so we ordered the surf and turf, what a mistake! Everything was covered in old bay seasoning. Additionally, I asked if they were using Maine lobster and the server said absolutely, so you can imagine how disappointed I was when they brought out a warm water lobster. At a place like this I would have expected the server to notice before it was brought to the table. I had to inform the server and the assistant waiter that they brought the wrong thing and the waiter barely apologized for the mix up. We were given one drink for the ordeal, obviously a way to keep the Maitre'd from knowing about the lobster mix up. The server claimed it was a change the kitchen had made a few days earlier and they hadn't been informed, which was very obviously just a cover up. We will not return. For this price point there are plenty of better options in the area.
Class All the Way!
As you walk into the front door of this unique facility, you immediately sense the ambiance and coziness of the dinng room and know that you’re in for something special...
Our waiter was exceptional in his service to our group blending in his professionalism and personality too.
The food was nothing less than superb!
Did I say this restaurant oozes Class...?
Hostess Pamela was very helpful when my colleagues and I were late on our reservation. You know how it is with traffic and parking when there are 3-4 meetings all over L.A....also there's free 2 hour parking one block away...and that block is Rodeo Drive so it's a nice surprise. Food is yummy, service quick and attentive.
We are not from the area. We were in town celebrating our anniversary and wanted an upscale dinner experience. We read the reviews for this place and thought it would be perfect. We were greeted with rudeness from the host because we were 15 minutes late for our reservation. We left when our Gps said to. He said we could have called. I felt like I was being scolded. The mood for our special dinner was ruined. The wait staff did a good job and they were awesome. The food was ok. Not the best or worst. I will never go back to this place again.
The food is good is good but expensive. The room is attractive, but when busy, the noise level is deafening. It is unfortunate- it makes it impossible to have a conversation. The booths on the sides are probably a little quieter than sitting in the middle of the room.
