The Grill on the Alley - Aventura Ratings and Reviews
We love the Grill, and go there very often to sit and eat at the bar with the warm and friendly staff. When we walk in, it always feels like home.
That being said, we had out of town company that we wanted to impress, and they weren't. They pointed out banquets where the leather was held together by tape, the chairs wobbled. Not what they are used to. We had planned to have pre dinner drinks at the bar, but they couldn't find a stool that felt steady enough. They mentioned that for the food prices, they don't expect distressed seating.
Thank goodness for the warmth and special treatment of the fantastic people who work there.
We'll continue to go there no matter what, but will hold off bringing guests. It's important to point out that Management goes out of their way to attempt to please, and they truly represent The Grill in an extraordinary way, and couldn't do more. But when you see deterioration that is out of their control, first time customers might not return.
PLEASE bring it back to it's previous inviting and high end ambiance. It has so much potential.
We didn't actually eat here. We went there as walk ins and were told it was a 45min wait. We had a baby with us and decided to leave and make a reservation on OpenTable. When we came back the girls told us that the system didn't show same-day reservations and that there was a huge waiting list that we would have to get on like everyone else. There were empty tables on the patio both times we tried to eat there. They told us that even if we had a reservation we made earlier, we would STILL have to wait. Not sure why they even take reservations.
The restaurant was beautiful the bartender Matt was exceptional, very friendly receptionist, we are seated at our appointment time and our food was phenomenal and our waiter was great . I would recommend this restaurant highly then gradients for fresh tasty and we were not hurried or rushed what so ever👍💥
Our server name I think was Paul very professional and friendly
We had a reservation made but when we showed up, we stood by the reception desk and nobody even acknowledged our presence. The bartender was serving people at the bar, and the waiters were serving people at their tables. All of them saw us but none said a word. If they would have told us to wait to be seated or anything at all, we would have done so, but instead we turned around and went to eat at the restaurant next door.
Went for lunch. Service was terrible. Burgers and fries used to be delicious. Was my friends burrhday. They used to have a brownie with roasted pecans on top and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The brownie was warm. No more roasted pecans and thdbroenue was hard. Very disappointed.
The service here was deplorable. We sat at the bar for 15 minutes waiting for the bartender who told us once he'd be right with us. Eventually he sent what I think was a bar.back over to take our drink order. He had to come back twice to confirm the order as he had no idea about drinks. So we only got one drink at the bar before we sat down (probably would have had more and at $17/drink you would think they would want to sell more). We went to our table, order drinks and dinner at same time. We did not get the drinks until about 2 minutes before the food came out!! Waiter didn't seem phased we were waiting and his service was just ok. I do admit the good was good but the service was awful and they don't care.
Went to happy hour and ate also. We were there from 510 till after 7pm. The bar tender was also in charge of all the tables at the bar. Service was definitely delayed and lacking. Never received waters, had to always get the attention of the waiters. Had to ask for salt and pepper had to ask for ketchup never got mayo. I come here often and first time at the bar. For two people we spent almost 100usd definitely service could've be better. Lots of other waiters were standing around. They had only one table inside so I'm not sure why we were neglected.
Manager handled our many disappointments well and returned our bill. Very poor experience overall. Lackadaisical attitude from waiter who seemed not to be concerned with the experience we were having. Steak undercooked and chewy despite being returned twice. Salad took 45 minutes to arrive. Waiters eager to clear plates in an empty restaurant. Manager did the right thing and I commend him for that.
I took my wife and mother-in-law are out for dinner to have steaks. Valet parking for $10 at the mall to eat dinner made me flinch a little bit. I ordered a bourbon and they didn't have it but the manager came over and apologized as it was on the menu. Very nice. The steaks were prepared perfectly – absolutely delicious. However, the side dishes were a different story. The creamed corn was watery and so salty none of us could eat it. The brussels sprouts were delicious but the portion was really small. The dessert was horrible. Small pieces of cold dry brownie with a scoop of ice cream . I come here often for the happy hour which I will continue to do, but dinner seems to be disappointing unless you just want a main course and nothing else. The service was excellent.
We hadn't been to Grill on the Alley in a good while and were happy to return. The bar service was terrific with the best lychee martini ever...crisp and crystal clear and not too sweet! The menu had changed dramatically with far fewer options but dinner was good and we enjoyed it. My short ribs were fairly priced but we thought the hamburger was over-priced. Dessert was good but the brownies a tad dry. The best part was our server, a fabulous professional named "Borka." Ask for him...he was attentive and gracious!
