The Grill - Iron City Ratings and Reviews
I've been to several concerts here, but this was the first time I actually had the food. Everything was SO GOOD. I was pleased by the selection, there was such a variety of foods to choose from. My favorites were the broccoli casserole and grits. The selection of fruits and vegetables was great too - everything was so fresh! I would definitely attend another Sunday Brunch. My only suggestions would be to have some spoon rests out so the serving utensils can be put aside and the food containers can be closed & to have the volume for the live music lowered a bit (he was so talented and I enjoyed his performance).
Have been to this restaurant before and loved it. Responded to several ads on my Facebook feed for special "Sunday Brunch Jam". Clicked on ad which took me to Open Table for reservations which I made. We show up for our reservation and the place is closed. Checked my app to make sure it was the right date and time. I called the restaurant and got their voicemail with their hours, which did not include Sunday... Not sure why this happened. Maybe they planned the event and changed their minds and forgot to remove the FACEBOOK ads? I left a voicemail that day about our disappointment but they have not returned the call.
I have been fortunate to eat in some very nice places. Frankly, Iron City was great. Cuban was outstanding. The Alabama Dram was a " I will remember this drink" forever. Great place for casual Business dinner, date night or what ever. Will be back when in town.
We had dinner prior to the concert we were attending at Iron City for the sake of convenience. Turns out we really enjoyed it and will likely do the same thing the next time we have a show there! Our server was very attentive and had great recommendations. We had the buffalo cauliflower as a starter and the shrimp and grits and ramen for our entrees. I highly recommend all of them! My shrimp and grits was some of the best I've had. The beer selection isn't huge, but it's a wide enough variety of some great local and state breweries.
It was also very nice to enter the concert venue directly from the restaurant, which may save you some line-waiting time. We'll definitely be back!
My husband, small dog and I were passing thru Alabama from Miami as evacuees from hurricane Irma. We wanted something healthy that fit our dietary needs. They accommodated us and our dog with no problems. The food we ordered was delicious and the server was very attentive. We left satisfied and grateful for kind people on our journey
At UAB Kirklin Clinic for the day. Had a fabulous lunch & only 2 blocks away! Fried oysters, tomato soup, prime rib sandwich w/ au jus was to die for! Nathan, our server, was polite, friendly and helped us make our choices for lunch. This place is now on my fav list for Birmingham & we'll definite be back!
The food was disappointing. We were one of the first customers of the day and the potato casserole was not cooked through. Later in the day it might have been delicious, but I'll never know. Rather than point it out to the waiter, I ate the half cooked potato slices and went on with my day.
Visited on a Friday night as a post graduation dinner party. Everything in Tuscaloosa was booked, however, I'm glad it was or we would not have discovered this gem. This place was spotless, and the food was spot on. Nice craft been selection and the service was top notch. I HIGHLY recommend the noodle pork bowl with the Brown Rye on draft! One of the best food/beer pairings I've ever selected. And I've selected a lot!
My husband and I went for a dinner date. I had tasted the catering side of Iron City but neither of us had eaten in The Grill. It was fabulous! My husband couldn't believe we'd never been and asked when we could return before we even finished our meal.
We split the Spring Salad which was great! He had the Coulotte Steak and I had the Shrimp & Grits. I do not like my food too spicy and our server suggested that I order the shrimp grilled versus blackened. They were wonderfully seasoned and not spicy. My husband loved the steak which was enough for him to finish the next day.
Desserts sounded wonderful too but we were too full to try one :(
went there prior to a concert. Was so very happy we made the choice to go there and grab a bite. My husband had the Cuban sandwich and he said it was the best one he has ever had. I had a small side salad and the red potato stuff....I do not know the exact name of it but I could easily make a meal off of two bowls of it. A little thinner and it would be a wonderful fully loaded potato soup. As it was, it was great. I am so glad we went and will be back and visit, and it will not be only when there is a concert.
We came to town for a dance competition and soccer tournament. The Iron City Grill had ONE last reservation...5:30. We took it! Wow...great music...exceptional service...amazing food!!! Truly impressed. We travel all over America for work and sports, and loved every second and every bite. We'll be back! The pork belly sandwich (ordered without bread) was incredible!!!!!!! I want more...
The hostess was rude. Our server was very nice. Only two tables were taken when we arrived. We wanted to sit at a table by the window. She stated that we could not sit there because it was reserved for parties. It only seated five people at most. We told her that it was my birthday and she had no response. She seated us, and our server let us move. He was excellent, but we would not return.
Met some friends for dinner and the food tasted great. We had a great waiter who was able to answer all of our questions pertaining to the menu. Only complaint was food portion size but the prices were not that bad so I guess you get what you pay for. If you're in the area give the fried green tomatoes a try.
We were pleased with the good selection on the menu and both enjoyed our meal. The entres were had crafted and delicious (steak, beef tacos) and portioned just right for dinner. We were well served by friendly and helpful staff. We will be back and have already recommended to friends. Follow them on Instagram and when you see their food presentations, just know that yes, it's really like that.
