About The Grill - Forest Hills
The concept for The Grill originated back in 1980s, when the owner Oleg Kaz settled in Forest Hills. Oleg’s passion for delicious homemade food grilled on sticks was influenced by his father Alec, who built a Kebab Grill made of stone in the backyard of their house.“We were grilling everything on sticks” said Oleg. “Having a garden in the yard made everything taste even better by growing our own vegetables, herbs and spices". Working in the food industry for over 15 years, Oleg always dreamed of opening a Mediterranean Restaurant in the Forest Hills' famous restaurant row, in the vicinity of Austin St. The dream became reality for Oleg, and now he is inviting you to enjoy the ultimate Mediterranean dining experience in the heart of Forest Hills.

The Grill - Forest Hills Ratings and Reviews
Happy Hour Oysters $1.00 each brings us there. Not only are they inexpensive but very delicious Blue Points. Then we had dinner and we all ordered lambchops which were very delicous! The owner was amicable to our requests and quite personable. We have been there for oysters before and will return for happy hour and dinner.
I gave the customer service the lowest rating because I think they can do better with being more attentive and at least a little excited to have you dine and/or cocktail with them. I think the guy behind the bar when I initially got there is the manager- he seemed very apathetic about what was going on. Not very engaging and took a while for him to come over- although at the time I was the only person at the bar. The waitress was very average as well. She was nice. However, not very attentive didn't come over to see if we needed anything else or refill our "unlimited" brunch drinks. Odd. The food was very good so kudos to the chef! The infused vodkas also extremely good and great happy hour price. The Ambiance is cool with out door and indoor cozy seating. Nothing to brag about in terms of the decor. Overall a C+ for service and B+ for food and ambiance.
The service was great. Seated right away without confirming reservation, drinks and appetizers were out quickly. Calamari was nice and crispy. Entres took quite some time. Ordered the lamb and asked for medium well and it seemed rare. Had to eat around it. If your going here for lamb, might as well go to Outback. Other than that the other options on the menu were great.
Terrible service, we kept being rushed, even though the restaurant was almost empty. They are not properly trained to wait for all diners at the tale to finish their appetizers before crowding the table with the entree.
Also, bringing the bill without asking for it is rude as well...as is getting orders mixed up between the 3 occupied tables...quite laughable.
I was seated before my friend arrived, which was nice. Some places won't do that. the service was above average and the brunch selections were a little different than the normal fare. My friend and I were left to sit and chat for quite a while. I would definitly go back for happy hour oysters
I used a Groupon on this visit to the Grill, the experience was fantastic and with every penny. We order from the grill frequently. I love the seafood pilaf. It wasn't on the Groupon menu but one of my faves the buratta is. The pappardale pasta is fresh. Dessert options are great. I really love the Grill Groupon or not.
I will start with why I rated them 2 stars; they played games with the check. I took my family of 5 to dinner at the Grill. We ordered appetizers, drinks and desert and the bill was significant. When I went over the check it had the "suggested tip" chart below the total, but on closer inspection it also had the tip included in the total. I understand they include tips on large parties, but 5 is not a large party and I can only believe they were being deceptive, so for that I was not happy with my experience.
The Food; was very good
The Drinks: were decent
The staff: friendly
The experience: unhappy with the dishonesty
Competent grilled food; competent service. A little pricey, but if I lived in the neighborhood I'd probably be a regular.
We had grilled octopus and a dip sampler with hummus, baba ganoush and tzatziki. Octopus was tender, but heavy on the olive/capers with very little grilled flavor or texture. Dips were average.
Mains we had Sea Bass Kebobs, lamb chops, grilled shrimp and whole grilled fish. All quite good. Service was friendly and efficient. Ambiance is a bit hurry-up-and-eat contempo/muzak.
I'd go back and try the lamb kebobs which looked very good.
The food was good, my girlfriend had some hot water spilled on her when the waiter was pouring it for our tea and the only thing they did was give us a complimentary flan, they didn't even say the meal was on us, as a way of making reparations. I will eat here again, but will pour my own hot water. Also, the corn muffins are complimentary and we never got them...hmm. Will address this the next time I brunch
Seated at the bar. Place was dead but likely due to incredible heat wave. Place is dimly lite- intimate. Happy hr very convenient 7 days a wk! Bartender attentive to out requests and refilling drinks & water.
Even let us know when happy hour was ending so we could order more drinks & tapas. Would return to try main lunch/ brunch/ dinner menu. Bottomless drinks w Brunch seems enticing.
Food was good and drinks were strong but the wait staff didn't speak and they began packing up while we were eating. They literally put up chairs around us and removed table settings. We had only been there 20 minutes. The last call for drinks happened before our entrees even arrived! In the future, they should not take reservations if they intend on closing early. The atmosphere- which included getting boxed in and having the lights turned up on the patrons- left a lot to be desired.
The cooking is par. The thick pork chop was well seasoned but there was an underlying taste of rot. The calamari appetizer is battered well and not greasy.
Bartender need to be less condescending. I was asking for the house drink and he assumed that I was looking for happy hour rates during a 9:00 dinner.
we made our reservation last Sunday the 31st and when we arrived to the restaurant we were notified that due to the rain, the restaurant got floated. We were told that unfortunately they wont be able to accommodate us. We understand the fact that thing like that could happened due to the bad weather but what we dont understand is why we did not get notify in advance so we could have avoided the unnecessary ride that we paid for Uber and the waste of time. Its evident the lack of management and the poor customer service.
