Spectacular for connecting with friends and family
Had a pre-golf breakfast. Food was hot and well-prepared and presented. Heaters were on to make dining on the patio comfortable. View was great - next to the putting green and overlooking the first tee on the South Course.
Nice apres golf spot
The sandwich menu looked interesting. Not much else. I ordered the Monte Cristo and it was just so so. My friends had the Vietnamese sandwichs which they liked. We asked for water and a set up. I had to go to the Hostess and ask what happened to our server. She disappeared.
Service was terrible.
Fantastic Golf day on the South Course topped off with a terrific dinner great country club ambience. Love this place.
Amazing views, good service, good food. House Potato Chips appetizer is great.
Everyone liked their food. We get together regularly there. We like the hamburgers a lot.
My wife chose this restaurant for my birthday, because of its location and the reviews. She was a bit hesitant due to some of the reviews mentioned the poor service they received.
We arrived at the time of our reservation, and after we were seated we reviewed the menu and placed our order for drinks and an appetizer when the waiter introduced himself 10 minutes later. The appetizer arrived within 10 minutes and after another 5 minutes the drinks arrived... then we waited for over 45 minutes and never had our order taken before my wife flagged down another waiter and asked if he could locate our waiter. When he showed up several minutes later, his excuse for not coming back to take our order or see how we were doing was that he thought we wanted to take our time. We said no we came here for dinner, but now we just want our check and wanted to leave. After the disappointing service at The Grill we decided to go to the PrepKitchen in Del Mar, because like other always great go to restaurants we know that their food, service and ambiance never disappoints. The Prepkitchen was exceptionally awesome and saved the night and made my birthday great again!
Was disappointed with limited menu for lunch...the idea that one couldn't get a steak at lunch is laughable. $80 for a Ceasar Salad and a Reuben sandwich is not any kind of value.
The setting is very nice and it is Torrey Pines after all but the Grill is not aptly named....
Love the view of course ! In the course. BLAT sandwich is the BEST!
We always enjoy dining at the Lodge at Torrey Pines! The Grille has a delicious menu of appetizers and entrees. We definitely liked our choices of the Italian wedding soup and the winter greens salad, along with swordfish entree. Delicious preparations for all three, along with some nice wine to pair with the food. The scenic view of the sunset over the Pacific ocean and the Torrey Pines golf course is really special and just adds to the ambiance!
Couldn’t select a better day before Valentines substitute (business travel forced it) site for incredible ambiance, superb dinners, and service transcending expectations. Cozy by the fireplace after with the staff adding firewood with warm hospitality.
Thought this evening might be a little chilly outside. However, the (many) heat lamps provide warmth. If the heaters are not enough for you, shawls are provided. The fires were lit for an after (or before) dinner drink. Beautiful spot.
Absolutely the best burger in town and that is continually a unanimous decision. Fresh, local ingredients used for most item and consistent quality. Nice view of the golf course and sunsets from the outdoor dining area.
Appetizers and drinks were good, entrees came out luke-warm
Overall it was nice. I'd go back.
One person on crutches had to walk a long way. Table was by the door to the bar and was very drafty, cold, and noisy. Home made potato chips and dip were excellent but my tri tips were tough and potatoes were cold. Service was great.
I have been before and based on the service and food it was an easy choice to go back. Atmosphere was awesome as the PGA was getting ready for the tournament. So close to the putting green it was a great to have a cold beer and take in the atmosphere. The staff even moved my reservation for me so I could enjoy the view. I will be back the next time I will be in the area.
We enjoyed the fixed menu offered for Restaurant Week. The salmon appetizer was very good. This was followed tri-tip or baked salmon or some vegetable dish. Both the trip-tip and the salmon were excellent. Topped off with a pumpkin creme brulee. All of this during Restaurant Week for only $40. Wow, what a deal. If you have not been there before, the Grill is actually a little hard to find and is quite a walk from the Lodge's restaurant.
Lovely sunset dinner overlooking the fairway out to the ocean for the start of restaurant week. Service and value was excellent. We'll be back for a birthday dinner!
The hamburgers were outstanding and the service was fantastic! They were able to accomodate our child's peanut and egg allergy. We enjoyed sitting outside on the patio overlooking the beautiful golf course. Can't wait to go back!
The Lodge is one of our favs and never disappoints!
We ate lunch and dinner. The lunch was much better. The food was hit or miss, and while the majority of the waitstaff (host and busman in particular) were very good, there was a mix up that left us sitting for nearly 30-minutes before we were waited on. The waitress seemed completely disinterested in serving our table, even after leaving us waiting.
Overall good, not great, experience. Very good service. Very good venue that would be even better during the day when you can see the course. Food for most was really good but tri-tip was really undercooked. Perhaps order a temperature higher than you’d expect. I ordered medium rare and most of it was very rare. Starters all very good.
Lunch at The Grill: Nice ambience and a way-below-average dining experience. Chewy dry chicken made my $16 "Rotisserie Chicken Sandwich" practically uneatable. My wife's fish tacos were subpar. Slow service and a missing-in-action waitress didn't help. Two of our group of five were served the wrong items. I'm a local but I won't be back.
I had forgotten about this hidden gem. We enjoyed our dining experience immensely. Desiree our server was attentive and intuitive about our group who spent more time talking than ordering or eating. She was patient and professional. Hats off to you, Desiree.
We had the best Cobb Salads ever. (Biggest too; we could have split, but I really didn’t want to share.) Delicious moist chicken, crisp romaine. We will definitely be back
Hot smoked salmon was fantastic. A reasonably quiet place with great food
the Lodge was decorated so beautifully...which is why we went there.
The ambiance was beautiful, but service painfully slow.
I had the most delicious swordfish ever--moist, tasty, beautifully prepared! Swordfish is so often dry and overdone--not this! The Grill also has homemade potato chips which are an earthly delight!
Breakfast was good but does have minimal options especially for vegetarians
Clean, delicious, awesome view and fast service. The bread rolls were the best.
We love the Grill. Casually elegant, good food, lovely atmosphere and the service is warm and friendly w/o being annoying. And the homemade chips are divine.
We so enjoy the Lodge! They make the La Jolla Country Day concert a fabulous holiday event and so special every year! and then we top it off with a spectacular dinner in the grill! It has been a tradition for the last several years and more to come.
The food in this place was amazing. One of the best cooked steaks I've eaten in a while. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. The whole ambiance is incredible: the view, the candles in the tables and the guitarist. Great place!
always a good spot for a business lunch - great view & service
Birthday lunch pre-play at La Jolla playhouse
We are frequent visitors to this restaurant as we are big fans of their very special drugstore burger. The best burger in town for us.
Service, ambiance, location are also top notch. Highly recommend.
